August Moodboard Inspiration using a Grid Design

Hello, Leonie with you and today I'm talking about grid designs in your scrapbooking. 

Do you ever use them? I like working with grids I find it helps to break a page down to 6 or 9 squares and then go about filling each square with little bits and pieces.  

It can be a great way to utilise lots of embellishments.  Hands up who has loads of those?

My page today is also based on our August Moodboard - join in our challenge for a chance to win a store voucher. You can load your entry HERE.

My page is a based on a loose 9 square grid. Some elements overlap and take up two grids, I like how there's lots for the eyes to see. You can wander round the page and pick out all the little interesting elements added to each grid. 

My main grid featuring the photo of my twins is lifted slightly with a chipboard window frame from Heidi Swapp's Color Pop range.

Other elements I've used are September Skies Color Magic Die Cuts.

I coloured these with Distress Ink Stormy Sky and Distress Oxide Cracked Pistachio.

The Die Cut words were coloured with a grey ink. 

Heidi Swapp WanderLust Window Slides and Color Pop Tags were also used in some of the grids on 

this page.  I placed some sequins behind this Window slide to create a little shaker pocket.

Lastly I used a Heidi Swapp Outline Sticker in the centre square..

History - Inspiration Board Layout by DT Katie

Good Morning and welcome to Saturday! Are you scrapping this weekend? I wish I was, I am working all day today, but at least I have Sunday off!

Today I am sharing a page that I have created inspired by the August Inspiration Board challenge. Have you given it a go yet? It is an awesome board, let's have a look at it first:

What inspired me first of all was the colours, aren't they gorgeous? Then I was inspired by the paint strokes of the colours, so I decided to create a background using my distress oxide inks and take it from there. Here is what I finished with:

My background was so easy to create, I simply swiped the ink pad across the page! The colours that I thought matched the colour palette best were: Faded Jeans, Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Mermaid Lagoon and Tea Dye.

With a background so vibrant I didn't feel that I needed to do too much more, so I created some layers using so Crate Paper scraps (Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams and Gather) that I had laying around:  Delicate, Moments and Kindred. I also used some Heidi Swapp Color Magic banners that I swiped through some distress oxide ink to colour.

I used some of the Maggie Holmes Gather Thicker accents for some of my embellishments to create a small cluster above my journaling. I love using the Posca Paint Pens for writing on mixed media backgrounds too.

My title uses a simple grey thicker, these ones are Maggie Holmes Stylist in Charcoal, they are perfect because they don't compete with any of the other colours but still stand out.

I used some more Gather thicker accents as well as some ephemera from the Gather collection and a cute wood epoxy in just the right shade of blue! And to finish it all off I used some Distress Spray in antiqued bronze to splatter around my page, the perfect touch of metallic!

Starstruck - a layout by Lisa J

Hiya Scrapping Clearly friends,

I have a layout to share today using all things Heidi Swapp.

I had a photo of my littlest guy with musician 8 Ball Aitken at the Tamworth Country Music Festival that I had been wanting to scrap so the idea of using lots of stars to create a "starstruck" layout was born.

I started by lightly tracing a circle on some white cardstock. I used Color Shine in Navy and Citron to sprinkle around the circle and then placed my acrylic stars down with a spot of glue. I stitched (very roughly) over these with black thread.

I created some layers around my photo with the 6x6 paper pad.

Now I have used a whole lotta cool Heidi Swapp stuff on this page. Here are the links for the store:

Opportunity to Shine - by Emma

Well hello there, 

Nice to see you all again.

Today I’m sharing a layout with oh so many flowers! 

Well for me this feels like oh so many flowers cos I don’t usually use this many nor do I fussy cut! hehe! 

But I love it! 

 I have loved the quirky feel of this photo I found on Pinterest ages ago, and have been saving for just the right time. So when I received all these pretty Heidi Swapp flowers in my DT pack I knew it was time. 

I also fussy cut flowers from a sheet in the Heidi Swapp 6x8 pad. 

But before I did all that I chose my base sheet by Paper Arts and used the mixed media fun 3 sheet. 

It’s so artsy! 

I spread some gesso under where my design was going to be and then added Dylusions paint in Pomegranate to add more colour. Plus it matched the colour in the base paper. 

Then I flicked some Liquitex Titanium White ink around as well as doodling with a liquid paper pen. 

I rubbed Distress Oxides over the gorgeous resist flowers and then rubbed back using a baby wipe to reveal the outline of the resist. I chose Wild Honey,  Abandoned Coral, and Iced Spruce to colour these. Then I found some leaves in the pack and coloured them using Peeled Paint. 

I painted my chippy with the Art Alchemy acrylic paints. 

But before I put them on I inked them with complimentary inks,

and then I just layered. 

For a few of my embellishments, I used Heidi Swapp glass buttons and some Teresa Collins Daily Stories sequins.

A couple of quotes, and this pretty little thing was complete. 

I really enjoyed playing with flowers.
I think it’s something I might try more of.....

Good Times Layout with Lisa J

Hi there scrappy friends,

Today I am sharing a layout with Heidi Swapp's September Skies papers. I received the 6x6 paper pad in my DT kit and I have been amazed at the versatility of this range. My last share here was a very girly layout and today's share features my hubby and one of my boys.

I was lucky enough to finally get a Silhouette Cameo and I have had a great time downloading and using some of the many free cut files available. The sunburst pattern I have used in this layout is one of those. Backing cut files is a great way to use 6x6 papers to create a 12x12 layout.

I have also used Heidi Swapp's Acetate stars and Color Magic die-cuts.

There are so many versatile pieces in the die-cuts, flowers, stars, and title pieces. I love being able to add any colour I choose to personalise my layouts.

The die-cut fabric pieces from Pink Fresh Studio Escape the Ordinary were a great match too.

I love the navy, lime green, grey, and white colour combination. It's so bright and fresh.

Unforgettable - With Karyn Schultz!

Hi Scrapping Clearly Lovelies!

It's Karyn here, 

and today I have a scrapbook page to share with you made with papers from the Bella Blvd Illustrated Faith Bright and Brave collection and Heidi Swapp Embellishments - all available in the Scrapping Clearly Store. I love how bright and vibrant these papers are and love love love the designs!

I started with a sheet of Jesus is my Jam paper (music notes) and I used a 'painting with plastic' technique to apply watercolours across the page. I chose yellow, orange and pink colours to go with the sunrise in my photo. 

Then I selected a heap of flower shapes and a title from the Heidi Swapp September skies color magic die cut pkt and painted them the same colours as my background. This is a great way to use lots of the die cuts in a pack - often I seem to try and save them lol. 

Next, I added some puffy stickers .

Finally, I added some Tim Holtz word stickers These stickers are my absolute fave!!

New Background Technique with Emma.

Hi! 

What have you lovely peeps been creating lately?

I’m really excited to share with you this layout I created using a new technique I’ve been playing around with.
I’m in awe of, and a little stalky when it comes to, abstract acrylic painting at the moment
and so I’ve been trying and practicing this out and adapting it to scrapbook layouts.

In my video at the end of this post, you can see it come to life. 

My background consists of mostly acrylic paint, Dylusions to be exact.
I chose the rose quartz and mushy peas, not 2 colors I usually put together but I loved the feel they gave. 

For my black lines, I used Liquitex artist ink in carbon black. 

I used a Colour Blast shimmer pot in envy to add contrast splashes as well. 

Then using a Kaisercraft texture stamp, layered this over the now dry paint. 

Yes, I only used one stamp this time, so hard for me cos I love using 4 or 5,
but I really wanted the ‘art’ to shine this time. 

Then, keeping it sweet and simple, only used a strip of paper from a Heidi Swapp paper pad
and 2 tags from Heidi Swapp's Color Magic notes which I painted over
using the same paints (but on a baby wipe) to show the pattern. 

A little bit of twine, some sequins, and some ink splashes, and this little beauty was done.
So quick so simple, and so much fun!

Dude - A Scrapbook Layout with Lisa J

Hi scrappy friends,

Hope you are enjoying the weekend.

Today I am sharing a layout featuring some gorgeous Heidi Swapp products: Color Magic alphabets and embellishments, acrylic stars and the September Skies 6x6 paper pad.

My background started with some Colour Blast Paste in Steel through a Heidi Swapp stencil on Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock. Being heavyweight, this cardstock is perfect for taking mixed media without warping.

I added some colour with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks in Faded Jeans and Spiced Marmalade and some Colour Blast Colour Spray in Sunset. I also splattered some Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Navy.

I love how the Heidi Swapp Color Magic products can be customised to suit your project. I have used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Cracked Pistachio.

I have added some stamping in jet black Archival Ink with a Darkroom Door Arty circles and a splatter stamp. I have also added some extra stamping with a Kaisercraft mesh stamp.

I layered some September Skies papers under my photos, trimmed down my white cardstock, and mounted it onto a piece of Pink Fresh Studios Escape the Ordinary "Dare" paper (I cut out the inside first of course). I cut my chevrons from the mint side of this paper and also layered some of the navy underneath all my other paper layers.

I attached the acrylic stars with my Tim Holtz tiny attacher - love this tool for adding acetate and vellum elements.

My Travellers Notebook - With Karyn Schultz!

Hi Scrapping Clearly Lovelies!!! 

It's Karyn here and today I have some pages in my Websters Pages Color Crush Travellers Notebook Inserts to share with you made using lots of fun products available in the Scrapping Clearly Store.

I started by cutting out some Polaroids from the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Gather collection patterned paper and attaching Heidi Swapp ghost alphabet (acetate) alphas to form a title. These were used on the RHS with some photos from our beach holiday.

For the LHS I added some Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Gather collection paper strips and gold acetate then sprayed some of the Heidi Swapp Color Magic Paper Goods ephemera with Heidi Swapp Color Shine Patina and added to the page with a Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Gather collection deer embellishment. 

For the next layout I added some Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Gather collection paper strips to my pages. I added a Teresa Collins Something Wonderful photo overlay over the photo. I sprayed (painted actually) Heidi Swapp Color Shine - teal over the Heidi Swapp Color Magic Paper Goods ephemera. I added some splatters of the Color Shine as well. Lastly I added some journalling. 

I love these beachy colours - and those Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams collection puffy stickers!!

White on White layout with Karyn Schultz

Hi Scrapping Clearly Lovelies!!! 

It's Karyn here and today I have a scrapbook page to share with you made using lots of fun products available in the  Scrapping Clearly Store.

For this project I've kept with a white-on-white theme. I just love these types of pages -

but they are a bit hard to photograph. 

 

I started my background by applying Faber Castell glass beads glitter gel through a stencil (KaiserCraft Floral Lace stencil) onto white cardstock (under the photo and in the bottom right corner). 

  

Once this was dry I added a number of layers of white cardstock under my photo (torn edge, straight edge, punched edge) as well as a Teresa Collins Something Wonderful photo overlay.

 

I then added lots of the Heidi Swapp Color Magic Paper Goods ephemera as embellishments. Usually, you would colour these with sprays but I left them all white.

I used some of the Heidi Swapp ghost alphabet (acetate) for my title and attached using a Tim Holtz tiny attacher.
