October Moodboard Inspiration

Hello and welcome, Leonie here today with my take on our fresh October Moodboard.

For this moodboard I went about collecting some green papers from the Dear Lizzy Happy Place 6x6" Paper Pad and the Heidi Swapp September Skies 6x6" Paper Pad.  I layered these under my photos 

The chipboard title is from the Bohemian Dreams Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection.

I also added some clear stickers from the Boys Rule Cocoa Vanilla Studio Collection

Making a statement with the central photo in this lot by using a 

Heidi Swapp Favorite Things - Glitter Frame.  

I've also raised the photo and frame with foam tape to further highlight it.

Scrapping a Sunset Photograph

Hello Leonie back with you today.  I have a page to share with you today featuring a Sunset.
I tend to take quite a few photo's of Sunrises and Sunsets especially when we're on holidays.
However I often find the intense colours in sunsets and sunrises are hard to
transfer onto a scrapbook page.
I know orange isn't everyone's favourite colour so this can also add to the dilemma of scrapping a sunset photograph.
I think I managed to find a harmonious compromise here by adding some
neutral tones and just a few pops of orange by using the
Heidi Swapp No Limits papers.

I received the Heidi Swapp No Limits 6x6" patterned papers in my latest Scrapping Clearly DT package and most of the papers are neutral colours like navy blue, kraft, white and just a few contained pops of orange.
I thought these would make a good match for this photo of my daughter and her cousin I captured while we were holidaying together last December. I found the papers were a great match for the strong silhouetted image in the photo neither detracting nor competing with the photo.

Typically on a scrapbook page about a sunset or sunrise I would add orange and yellows to my base page but for this page I added some stencilling with Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide and an older Prima Stencil in my stash.
I love how the colours all came together on this page.

I added a flower cluster of the fun to play with Heidi Swapp September Skies Color Magic Die cuts.
I used Distress inks and Distress Oxides to colour these and reveal the resist images.

Lastly I added some wood veneer from my stash and my title also from alpha stickers in my stash. 

The enamel Dots are from the Cocoa Vanilla Studios Wild at Heart Collection

September Skies - Cocktails & Cruisin'

Hello, hello Leonie with you today on this Thursday 23rd August.  I'm off on a Scrapbooking retreat this weekend and I'm so looking forward with catching up with people I only see once I year or so but we all have that common interest in scrapbooking and 'arty stuff' so it's going to be fabulous. 

Today I'm sharing a page I recently created and perhaps it would be more appropriate if I posted it next month given that the collection I used is Heidi Swapps' September Skies!

Cocktails & Cruisin'

My page today highlights another Scrapbooking adventure I had in November last year when I taught scrapbooking classes on a cruise ship.  What a blast that was so I've created this fun page of some pictures with fellow teacher Nat May.

I used a stencil by Gabrielle Pollacco for The Crafters Workshop

to add some fun patterns and colour to my background with Distress inks.

My photos are backed with papers from the September Skies 6" paper pad.

I embellished my design with Stitched cardstock banners from the September Skies Collection.
My Journalling followed the lines of the stencil I had used on the background and created a wavy demention in keeping with the Ocean Cruise theme.

The title Alpha Stickers are from the Heidi Swapp Project Life range as are the Puffy Stickers also used to embellish my page.

August Moodboard Inspiration using a Grid Design

Hello, Leonie with you and today I'm talking about grid designs in your scrapbooking. 

Do you ever use them? I like working with grids I find it helps to break a page down to 6 or 9 squares and then go about filling each square with little bits and pieces.  

It can be a great way to utilise lots of embellishments.  Hands up who has loads of those?

My page today is also based on our August Moodboard - join in our challenge for a chance to win a store voucher. You can load your entry HERE.

My page is a based on a loose 9 square grid. Some elements overlap and take up two grids, I like how there's lots for the eyes to see. You can wander round the page and pick out all the little interesting elements added to each grid. 

My main grid featuring the photo of my twins is lifted slightly with a chipboard window frame from Heidi Swapp's Color Pop range.

Other elements I've used are September Skies Color Magic Die Cuts.

I coloured these with Distress Ink Stormy Sky and Distress Oxide Cracked Pistachio.

The Die Cut words were coloured with a grey ink. 

Heidi Swapp WanderLust Window Slides and Color Pop Tags were also used in some of the grids on 

this page.  I placed some sequins behind this Window slide to create a little shaker pocket.

Lastly I used a Heidi Swapp Outline Sticker in the centre square..

I Love My Job with Melinda Sweetman

Hey, hey scrappers! It's Melinda here with you today sharing my latest creation!

I started this page by diving into my ScrappingClearly stash and found these awesome Heidi Swapp September Skies papers that really spoke to me. I had fussy cut that big floral piece from Beautiful Bouquet quiet some time ago and it sat and sat and sat and now it is stuck!!

I also had partial sheets of both the Mountain Trail (B side) and Light Spectrum and thought they worked really well together with the floral so there was my base!

I have added in some mixed media, of course and started with some Scribble Sticks and the packaging technique and then I grabbed my Distress Oxide Ink in Carved Pumpkin and got more of the colour I was after.

I have used a couple of strips of washi from the Teresa Collins Urban market washi pack to break up the patterns and work as my neutral.

I added in some splatters using the Scribble Sticks in Tangerine and I made a mix of Night, Umber and Black for the darker blue splatters.

A couple of paper layers behind my photo using more of the Heidi Swapp papers and also the Teresa Collins Something Wonderful "Printed Paper".

My title was built with these Heidi Swapp Black Glitter chippy alphas and these Teresa Collins Something Wonderful Word Stickers.

I finished off with one of the Heidi Swapp puffy stickers from this pack and a few word strips from my box of goodies.

Lots of journalling and my page was done! I love the bright colours of this collection and love how all those bold and bright patterns still worked together to create a page I am happy with!

Remember, documenting us and our stories, both big and small, are just as important in our albums as everyone else's story so when an idea jumps into your head, run with it ;)

Together - Lisa J Made a Girly Page!

Hi all,

As a mum to four boys you can probably guess it is pretty rare for me to make a girly page. At a scrap retreat last weekend I decided to challenge myself and I embraced my girly side to scrap a photo of my sister and niece. 

I fussy cut a tonne of flowers from this stunning floral paper from the Heidi Swapp September Skies 6x6 paper pad.

I stencilled my white cardstock background with modelling paste using a floral stencil.

I used some Color Shine in Georgia Peach and brushed on some gorgeous shimmery colour. 

Next step was to add some layers around my photo using co-ordinating papers from September Skies and some tissue paper. A similar tissue paper can be found here.

I added some colour to the Heidi Swapp Color Magic die-cuts using Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio and Faded Jeans. I swiped the inks on to my messy mat added a spritz of water then used my blending tool to combine the inks to create the perfect shade and add colour to my chosen pieces. These are so fun to play with and so easy to alter to suit any project.

This was a fun layout to create and it is always good to try something out of your usual style.

Dude - A Scrapbook Layout with Lisa J

Hi scrappy friends,

Hope you are enjoying the weekend.

Today I am sharing a layout featuring some gorgeous Heidi Swapp products: Color Magic alphabets and embellishments, acrylic stars and the September Skies 6x6 paper pad.

My background started with some Colour Blast Paste in Steel through a Heidi Swapp stencil on Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock. Being heavyweight, this cardstock is perfect for taking mixed media without warping.

I added some colour with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks in Faded Jeans and Spiced Marmalade and some Colour Blast Colour Spray in Sunset. I also splattered some Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Navy.

I love how the Heidi Swapp Color Magic products can be customised to suit your project. I have used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Cracked Pistachio.

I have added some stamping in jet black Archival Ink with a Darkroom Door Arty circles and a splatter stamp. I have also added some extra stamping with a Kaisercraft mesh stamp.

I layered some September Skies papers under my photos, trimmed down my white cardstock, and mounted it onto a piece of Pink Fresh Studios Escape the Ordinary "Dare" paper (I cut out the inside first of course). I cut my chevrons from the mint side of this paper and also layered some of the navy underneath all my other paper layers.

I attached the acrylic stars with my Tim Holtz tiny attacher - love this tool for adding acetate and vellum elements.

Cute Kid - Emma's Version of the January Sketch

Hi everone,

Today on the ScrappingClearly blog I'm sharing my take on this months sketch

and showing some fun products and colours.

To start my page I used modelling paste, and then had a play with a Colour Blast Shimmer pot in Envy,

these are sooooo fun. I also painted the wood veneer with this.

I added my favourite medium a Distress Oxide in Fossilized Amber over the top of the shimmer and paste.

Then, using a very cool new stamp, I added a few interesting layers with this,

and a couple of other stamps in my stash.

I painted my Heidi Swapp veneer and chipboard with the same mediums I used on my base.

Choosing some very awesome sheets from the Heidi Swapp September skies 6x6 range,

I created layers to follow the sketch of this month.

I have some of the Heidi Swapp Banners and was really unsure how to use them,

as I don't often use banners, so I decided to cut them up and use them like tags under my paper layers.

I also used a couple of the Heidi Swapp Star embellishments under my veneer to add more interest.

Finishing it all off like I usually do with my Liquitex ink in black flicked across my layout.
