{introducing the talented Skai Mitchell as a Guest Designer here @ Scrappingclearly}

My name is Skai and Im from Boolaroo, which is in central Lake Macquarie.
Im a mum to two (Zane 14 and Trinity-Jewel 9) and collect black cats (Currently at 4)
Ive been an artist since I could remember, and have been making pretty things in all mediums whenever my brain has an idea. I paint, draw, sew, weave, plant and potter, and used mixed media and my fingers on all surfaces of my house and life.
I currently have been a family day care mumma for the best part of a decade and have had the opportunity to love, care, nuture and create with over 50 different souls in my home. Its been and accidental calling that has lead me to be able to work from home, be a full time mum and full time worker and just play, paint and create everyday.
My sometimes husband and I have an addiction to renovations, which in itself if a form of art. We have built, designed and created our home from a rundown 2 bedroom cottage, and plan to keep making mess as long as there are walls that can be torn down and made better.

Layout 1- 'Mrs Clark'

I used this months mood board with the pink/blue wooden background and utilised this as my base planning for this work. The background paper is out of my 'old' stash and has some brayered gesso over it. I layered some white papers with words and used Dylusion sprays watered down and applyies with a paintbrush to create this washed out effect. There are some Colour blast hearts from a stencil in there, and lots of mixed media goodness layered up (Gauze,Green Tara flowers, Flutterby lare, Charms creations heart, washi tape, cotton) and good ol' Dymo hand pressed lettering.

Layout 2 - 'Everyday remember'

I started this layout in a crappy mood, and for some reason bits of blue stash were all over the studio. I pulled them together onto this black card stock, and used random house paint samples for the drizzly background. Again, lots of mixed media goodness, with gauze, Amy Tangerine ephemera, Flutterby flare and chipboard word, sari silk, cotton, and Tim Holtz tiny words. Chipboard frame was in the stash, most probably a WOW creation.... I wasn't to fussed on using a sepia photo, black and white would have been perfect, but you use what you have in times of need, and Im happy with the overall ending....

Remember this, layout by Tania

Hi again, here I am with my 3rd and final post for the month! Can't believe August is almost over, where did that go???? I am loving working with the Shimelle, Starshine, and Crate Paper, Open Book collections this month. They truly are such versatile papers, great for male, female, family, project life, cards, all types of projects!!
My layout was inspired by Nicole Nowosad, over at Big Picture Classes! Her Color mixology class was about using Tertiary colours from the colour wheel on your layout. I was also inspired to break out the sewing machine and dust the cobwebs off, and add a bit of stitching to my layout!!!

This layout is a bit brave for me, as I don't think I would normally use such a busy mix of coloured papers on a layout all at the same time, but just having a few tips about colour, really helped! I also added a piece of vellum behind my photo to soften the layers a little!
From the Starshine collection, I used these papers: HUBBLE, SPITZER, VOYAGER & ORION. From the Open Book collection, I used: PAGES, LITTLE NOTES & MEMENTO.
Some of my embellishments were cut from the patterned paper, & I also used a handful of the totally gorgeous wood veneers from Studio Calico!! They are so cute!!!

The push bike die cut is from Kaisercraft, and I added a little Heidi Swapp Colorshine in Navy, (just a few flicks from the stem in the bottle.) (Have I mentioned that I must have some Heidi on almost everything I make!!!!!!)

So that's it from me here this month, stay tuned for some more inspiration from the other DT girls!!!
And don't forget you still have a few days left to play along with either or both of our cool challenges this month!!!!

Celebrating Friendship - by Lisa Oxley

Howdy Folks ,Lisa here.
I'm a few hours late with this blog post ,grrrr to the ADSL/NBN change over.
but I'm here and online again,a new phone as well -technology- come at me .
This piece today I am sharing with you is a celebration of friendship and connection made through this fabulous craft and spending time with people you totally get and relate too.
"Oh Peg, You know how much I love spending time with you.x"
This piece is created by water misting the page, always Bazzill Marshmellow ,and using either powdered coloured dusts or like me with the unscrewed lid of the Dylusions Ink Spray bottle ,where, one flicks random colours over a water misted page, and lets the colours mix.
*Drying time
 * next I attack the page with a fude ball pen, and pen some journaling to my creative muse.
Lets  Talk about Journaling right now.....
One Must have the essentials
who is in the photo?
what is happening in the photo?
when was the photo taken?
where was this photo taken?
Then ,if you really want to give ,to those who actually take time to look at your pieces, add some heartfelt language and a slice of your own character by using colloquialisms ,and language usinque to you.... oh Journaling , it seems like a dying Art.
Big love to Peg and Ruby and all the other journalists for their love of the written word and for sharing the story with words as well as pictures.
________________________________
*Back to the layout ... some doodling and stamping ,
then a little Colour Blast white coloured textured paste, more drying time ..
and while I'm waiting its a simple blocking of my photo and added journaling on the the journal card then finding a few embellies ,thickers and trinkets to add to the end look and this baby is finished.
Thanks for dropping by , See you next week

Project Life Week 12 - With Karyn!

Hi Scrapping Clearly Lovelies!!!

It's Karyn here and today I'm showing you Week 12 for my "Schultz Family 2016" Project Life Album. I've mainly used the Heidi Swapp "Sparkle" project life kit which is available at Scrapping Clearly. I love using kits - they provide a variety of coordinated cards and embellishments which can quickly be incorporated into a variety of layouts.
I start by laying items from the kit onto my workspace along with my photos for the week. I also added a selection of coordinating sequins from my stash.
I decided to "fuse" the sequins into part of the pocket, as is shown here. The Fuse tool is perfect for customising your pocket pages. I use it to alter pages to styles I use more regularly, or to add sequins or other embellishments permanently into the page. It is important to let the tool warm up for at least 10-15 mins before use and I move the tool very slowly across the sheet (usually 2 times). Then check to see if it has properly stuck and if not re-do it.
Here is my finished pages. The weather has been aweful here lately and opportunities to take photos in good light is rare - so sorry for the quality.
Here is a close up of the LHS. This week we got 2 new furry members for our family - Coco and Hugo.
You could leave the cards as is or add some extra embellishments as I have done here.
Here is a close up of the RHS. I've included some photos of Easter.
The colours in this card are some of my favourites and I love the extra glitter sparkle!
Wood veneer are also a favourite quick embellishment for my pages.
Scrapping Clearly products I've used include

Becky Higgins - white project life cards
Becky Higgins - grid project life cards
Studio Calico wood veneer hearts and arrows
Heidi Swapp "Sparkle" project life kit
Becky Higgins project life pocket pages design a
WRMK Fuse tool

All of my photos have been printed on an Epson XP-600

Thanks so much for stopping by

Top Nine with Melinda

Hello there fellow ScrappingClearly fans, Melinda here with you today sharing another page I have made using my most favourite collection of all time. EVER. The Starshine collection designed by Shimelle.

This layout started as a little idea that popped into my head one night while I was trying to sleep (does that happen to anyone else?!) and involved the stitching and a BIG title. My idea kinda evolved and changed during the making but I am super happy with how it all came together in the end!!

If you would like to watch my process you can find my process video here and read on for more details and close ups!

You can see the stitching I have done on the background (I used this paper and mounted on this paper) using a needle and thread and I have actually not stitched behind where the photo is. I used this tutorial to get my cameo to do all the hard work of making the holes for me and it made the process a) quicker and b) the holes were that tiny bit bigger and easier to sew through!

After the stitching was done I went in with some similar colours of Colour Blast sprays (bubblegum, sunset, saffron and lagoon) and did droplets all across the area where I knew I wanted most of the embellishments.

The photograph I decided to scrap was one that Instagram shared with me early this year and it is my Top 9 photos of 2015. I have included a little pull out card from this cut apart sheet behind the photo with matching number stickers from the accent and phrase stickers from the collection and a little blurb about each photo.

I have used the awesomely cool thickers in this collection for the title, I love all the different colours in it and I love that font, it's so fun!

That floral paper is one of my most fave from the collection and I HAD to fussy cut some of the flowers to use as embellishments and love how it looks!

I have secretly been hoarding those gorgeous acrylic shapes but figured it was time to get them on a page so I have used the butterfly, the word shine and both hearts.

At the very end I did a few little sprinkles using the Colour Blast Colour Spray in Roadbase (flat black colour).

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave a comment and I will get back to you ASAP!! Thanks again so much for taking the time to stop by and I hope you have found some inspiration to get out some product and PLAY!!

Colour Blast Goodness

Hi Scrappy peeps
I'm here to share some Colour Blast goodness with you today.
This page is of my #1 son's 21st birthday. It was a low key affair as per his request, no cake, a bbq at home with a few friends and a bonfire. The photos weren't particularly good because of the low light so I hid them in a folder on the page. I started with Bazzill black Marshmallow cardstock and through a Crafter's Workshop stencil put a few complementary Colour Blast colours. I also used my finger to apply Colour Blast 'Bling' paste over the distress paint around the edge as the paint wasn't shiny enough.

I used these gold foil 'Thickers' for the number, 'Celebrate' from this sticker pack, and other gold alpha stickers for inside the folder. I journalled on the photo white a white pen and added some Dymo.

Thanks for coming by today.
Are you joining in with our challenges this month?
You can find them on the side bar or Facebook here...
There are 2 great prizes up for grabs.

Til next time

{introducing GUEST DESIGNER - Amy Prior}

Hi there! My name is Amy Prior and I am a 30 year old wife and a mum, living in Kincumber, Australia. I have lived here on the Central Coast of NSW Australia most of my life and could not imagine living anywhere else. I have always been a creative soul and I find it hard to live without my paintbrush in hand or covered in some kind of medium.

My 2 daughters Mia & Chloe are usually the focus of my creations because I just love to scrapbook and preserve precious moments for them. My dear mother has a box full of lost memories I call them. My entire collection of childhood photos, is stored inside a shoe box randomly mixed up and if I ever ask my mum when a photo was taken or what occasion has been captured, she is always blank. No record and her memory failing, I was always destined to scrapbook and I started journaling at a very young age, including photos, magazine cuttings etc.

I hope to share my love for this beautiful Mixed Media world that I live in, with all of you. If I ever post something that has not been explained properly, PLEASE comment and ask me questions. I am always happy to answer and add more steps to make your creative journey easier.
