happy Saturday....
why is it sad... because I only have my ATC for this week to share....
this week's prompt: Sci-fi Fantasies - design an ATC inspired by Science Fiction
'Captured'
how did it happen...
well, I am NOT into sci-fi at all.
What does sci-fi mean:
Science fiction, popularly shortened as sci-fi, is a genre of fiction that creatively depicts real or imaginary science and technology as part of its plot, setting, or theme.
The fiction part of science fiction means, of course, that it’s a fictional story—not a real-life account.
The word science refers to the fact that the story in some way involves science or technology that—no matter how advanced—is depicted as being based on real scientific principles, as opposed to involving magic or the supernatural. Science fiction isn’t always ultrafuturistic. Sometimes, it depicts technology just beyond or slightly different than our own.
So, there's the definition.
so, I went looking for inspiration from the stash.
I found 2 magazine images - one that reminded me of a heap of metal coils and the other fantasy or futuristic.
So, I did an image transfer of this metal type image first up...
Worked well....
then I decided to image transfer a section of this picture over the top of the metal.
That did NOT work...
Options, throw it out and start again or rethink...
I re-thought...
what do I think of when I hear Sci-fi - Movies
Star Wars etc (yep, never watched any of them. I think I tried once and went NOPE).
Because the prompt is just that a prompt. I went with movie theme.
I found these really old Tim Holtz tiny film strips.
Covered the whole background in layers of the strips. I used some Helmar 450 glue to they were stuck down well, and you could still see the images below.
I like how you have to look to see the metal image.
What else is sci-fi = computers. This washi tape reminds me of computers and the types of imagery that you see when watching movies about conspiracies and out there computer themes..
My brain said - yep that will work.
and then another bigger film frame to highlight the washi.
and to continue with the theme a movie type reference with the title: Captured.
oh and Sewing, because that is a pre-requisite that I set myself.
The end result and I love it. Quite simple but quite fun at the same time.
and Yes the contrast between it and last weeks prompt in the ATC album....
FUN...
