My Crazy Boys - a layout with Lisa J

Good morning,

Hope you are having a wonderful week and you are getting some crafty time this weekend.

Today I am sharing a layout using one on my go to designs for 6x6 paper pads. I loved the gorgeous navy and lime green patterns in the Heidi Swapp September Skies Collection paper pad so I pulled out a selection of my scraps ready to create a block of pattern across the centre of the page.

Before I adhered my papers I added some Dina Wakley lime green paint and added some stamping in black archival ink.

I used a Heidi Swapp file folder pocket to back my photographs that I had framed with Mini Insta Frames. The pocket allows plenty of room to add the story of this day and the crazy photos of two of my boys at the beach.

I have also added some acrylic stars and enamel dots plus a fabric diecut from Pink Fresh Studios.

My title came from the Heidi Swapp Color Magic letters that I chose to leave white for some contrast.

Hi there scrappy friends,

Today I am sharing a layout with Heidi Swapp's September Skies papers. I received the 6x6 paper pad in my DT kit and I have been amazed at the versatility of this range. My last share here was a very girly layout and today's share features my hubby and one of my boys.

I was lucky enough to finally get a Silhouette Cameo and I have had a great time downloading and using some of the many free cut files available. The sunburst pattern I have used in this layout is one of those. Backing cut files is a great way to use 6x6 papers to create a 12x12 layout.

I have also used Heidi Swapp's Acetate stars and Color Magic die-cuts.

There are so many versatile pieces in the die-cuts, flowers, stars, and title pieces. I love being able to add any colour I choose to personalise my layouts.

The die-cut fabric pieces from Pink Fresh Studio Escape the Ordinary were a great match too.

I love the navy, lime green, grey, and white colour combination. It's so bright and fresh.

Layering Without Bulk.

Good Morning Arty peeps!

Peg here again, with a more complex page today.

Lots of layering but very little bulk, easy to fit in an album.

My eldest boy is a hippy child, he loves bright colours, music, and the bush,

so I made a multi-coloured page to reflect his passions.

On a background of heavyweight card, I began by flicking various colours of Distress Oxide inks, drying between colours. Then I used a foam applicator to add archival inks through stencils.

I framed the feature photo with a gorgeous

Kinder Kreations chippy frame painted black.

My title is an acetate word from Heidi Swapp, and chipboard alpha stickers

from Teresa Collins' Something Wonderful range,

and some Dymo which I also used for journalling.

Here you can see the Distress Oxides a bit better. I have also stamped with

some heart shaped bubble wrap.

Gundagai at Night, and my Sketch Interpretation - FUN

Good Morning Arty Peeps!

Welcome to the Scrapping Clearly blog.

I'm sharing a layout today based on the November Sketch Challenge.

I used patterned paper for my background!

But I added ink because it looked a little boring to me.

I started by using a border punch on this one from the Pink Paislee Fancy Free collection, then cut this one (from the same collection) using a TCW starburst stencil as a guide.

I added extra colour with a splatter brush and Tim's Distress Oxides. A fan brush will also work for this technique.

I applied black Archival ink through a coffee stain stencil with a foam applicator, on the corners like the sketch.

I used an off cut of this paper to mat my pic, sandwiched between bits of black card, then mounted on a Heidi Swapp ghost frame. Some tiny staples add a nice feature to my mat.

That's a Heidi Swapp acetate word too, for my title.

I typed my jornalling on white card and stuck it to a tag coloured with the Distress Oxides.

Another go-to embellishment for me are these cute paper clips, teamed here with a newsprint chippy heart.

Some baker's twine and enamel shapes add some nice detail to my journal tag.

And just to finish off, a couple more photos from our amazing weekend in Gundagai at the beginning of the month.

We took a nighttime jaunt down the deserted main street with my camera on a tripod.

Here with Dad, Dave, Mum, and Mabel, under the full moon.

Jason was such a good sport, Lisa and I laughed so much!

Creative Gift by Lauren Hender

Hello everyone and welcome back to the Scrapping Clearly blog.

Do you have a friend that is ready to make to mixed media jump? Who has dabbled a bit but is still not sure? Well I do. She is an amazing scrapper but it was only recently that she made the jump and has added a touch of mixed media to her layouts. A little excited about this I want to give her a gift of a ranger art journal. As I was sitting at my desk I thought I would create her a mixed media tag that she could keep to accompany the gift and maybe inspire her to be brave and add some of the elements I use into her new art journal.

So what do you think? Would you like a scrappy gift like this?

Ok, so as you can see I have a used a few goodies featured above to make this tag but there have also been a few things you don't know I have used.

I started by using the distress oxides and some gesso on the tag. I then applied some texture using a stencil and the whipped spackle.

I then hand cut a couple of tags and added the hole reinforcers in coordinating cardstock. I just love this punch and know it will be used many times especially in my planner.

 I found this cute acetate 'thankful' wreath and new it would be perfect to place on top of the tags.

I layered the cork behind the 'thankful' to make it pop and give it some dimension.

I hope my little gift tag has inspired you to make a creative gift for someone special.

Good Morning Arty Peeps!

Welcome again to the Scrapping Clearly Blog.

Today is my birthday and I have just spent the weekend

hanging out with my two favourite girls

who live a day's drive away.

If I ever win lotto I'm moving closer!

I did this layout to celebrate our friendship.

Here are the details.

I had these two backgrounds already made.

My art room works like a production line when I have new products, this time it was a Gel Press

and my Distress Oxide ink pads on heavy weight card. I made about a dozen of these

so thought I might use up two on the one page by cutting one into circles.

After inking the edges of the circles I stuck them down around my page,

trimmed the edges by 1/4" on each side and matted the whole thing

on black card (being sure to cut out the middle first to mat my photo).

I wanted to use the dreamcatcher sticker from this sheet but it was a little clean,

so I added some matching Distress Oxide colours to it too. I love these acetate words from Heidi Swapp,

I inked the edges with an alcohol marker to make them stand out a bit more,

and used 2 on my page, attaching them with staples coloured with Stazon ink.

Dymo filled in the gaps, of course.

 The only other things I added were the super cute banner,

and some black splats of Dylusions spray ink.

It's all held together with double-sided tape and staples.

So quick and easy with ready-made backgrounds!

Celebrating National Scrapbooking Day, Clearly

 Hello Scrappy Peeps, Peg here.

As you might know, last weekend was (Inter-)National Scrapbooking day and Scrapping Clearly FB hosted a mini cyber crop with six fabulous challenges and a Heidi Swapp 12" Minc as a prize!

I had hoped to get most of the challenges done over the weekend but, alas, all I managed was one. Challenge 4, use stencils, here it is.....

First this stencil with Colour Blast paste Dusty Charcoal,

then this stencil with Dylusions spray Bubblegum Pink.

I matted my photo, with some black card and pretty paper,

on top of a Heidi Swapp ghost frame.

Then I cut a strip of Hambly graph transparency and

slid it under the bottom edge of the frame using some

washi tape to hold it in place.

I love how the transparent layers work together.

For my title I inked up some Pink Paislee Bella Rouge

transparent letters and added Dymo journalling strips. 

Finished, it looks like this

The acrylic flowers were made years ago by Queen & Co, and I found the acetate butterflies online here.

It was fun to play with everyone last weekend, very social and lots of inspiration from other scrappers. Must do it again!

Counting Sheep Acrylic Mini Album

Hi All, Peg here.

So.... I was challenged to step outside my 12 x 12 box this month and create a mini album, not just any mini, a clear one! Not my thing at all, it sat on my desk for quite some time until I had the wherewithal to tackle it. I put many hours of thought into how I would go about it until it occurred to me that I should treat it like a photoshop file and work in layers starting from the back. That way I could easily see what the next layer would add to the stack.

So I began by sticking all the pages to a Hambly overlay (the printed side) using binder medium which was the glue I had to hand. I left it for a couple of days with books on top but it made no difference, the acetate of the overlay didn't stick. Happily though, when I peeled it off some of the Hambly print stuck to my album pages, especially around the edges.

This was a great kicking off point. I chose a different Stazon ink colour for each page with the light colours first and the dark colours at the back of the album and stamped some swirls and rubbed the ink around the edges of the pages.

The story is about a particular very late night at retreat with some fantastic and mischievous friends. We laughed and laughed, even after going to bed.

My cover title and embellishments are Simple Stories 'Heart' cardstock stickers and some very old Queen & Co plastic flowers from my stash. Journalling done with a Motex labeller and Dymo tape. I used a little bit of Cocoa Vanilla patterned paper and some black cardstock for matting.

I did it! I scrapped a clear album and I like it. I especially love that this one stands up so I can put it on display!

Maybe I'll do it again some time too since there are so many other cool album designs in the Scrapping Clearly shop.

My Moodboard take by Tania

Hi everyone, I'm back here again with a cute little card set I made using the very sweet Heidi Swapp Hello Gorgeous papers! I've also been playing with the amazing Colour Blast Colour Pastes which I see are a bit of a favourite at the moment!!!

So my inspiration came from the moodboard this month: It's a beauty and I hope you will play along!

I used one sheet of patterned paper and also the cut off tab from the same sheet, (which is the striped orange strip!) I am not a fan of wastage in my creating!!! I also cut some gold strips from a gorgeous piece of We R Memory Clearly Posh Acetate

I gave each piece of paper a coat of Gesso in the middle as a base for my next layer which was Dylusions spray ink in Squeezed Orange. When that was dry I dabbed some more bright orange over the top with Dylusions paint. I did a very faint layer of stamping with this Kaisercraft honeycomb stamp.

Then I had lots of fun with one of my favourite stencils, Dylusions Leaf flourish and this amazing Colour Blast colour paste.

The moodboard called for a deep blue and purple, but I only had pink and blue paste, so I mixed the two together to get a gorgeous purple colour. When the paste drys, the shimmer is awesome, I honestly love them!

In my kit this month, I also have some very pretty Prima flowers, which I used to embellish, along with these really cute little Prima alphabet stickers!

The 'happy' die cut is made using one of my favourite Heidi Swapp Wanderlust word dies! 

I hope I've inspired you to give the Moodboard a go this month, and to have a look at the beautiful papers in the Heidi Swapp Collections!! (I've also used them as my backdrop for these photos!!!) I will be back next time to showcase some more of these gorgeous papers!
