Tis the Season by Tracey B

 Hi everyone

Although my go to base is white card stock I couldn't go past this sweet Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss Bloom  for this layout based on this month's mood board.

Love the addition of aqua to the traditional Christmas colours.

I added some impasto paste through a circle-ish large floral stencil and when dry drew around the shapes with a couple of stabilo pencils and then added water with my water brush.   I added a bit more colour with Prima water color Confections.

I matted my photo with WRMK patterned paper Crush (Best Friends & Twittered pated)

I used the elastic from a Jane Davenport charm set (couldn't find the charm!).   Initially I braided it but didn't like it so unpulled it and stapled it on in a rough circle using my longarm stapler.

I added some Heidi Swapp chipboard and some Kaisercraft Pocket stickers.

Be your beautiful self

Hi everyone,

Don't you just love this beautiful, delicate, moody mood board this month?

It reminded me of days gone by so I decided to scrap a photo of my great great grandmother.

I started by roughly tearing a couple of different scrap papers and making a collage, sticking them down with TCW gel medium. (Any gel medium would work just as well)

When dry I covered my page with gesso and then lightly removed some with a baby wipe.

I traced on some circles using a stencil and grey lead pencil and then used a combination of Dina Wakley Scribble sticks and Silver Ice gelato to colour them in. I then gave the top of my LO a spray with Lindy's Stamp Gang spray and then dribbled some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Milled Lavender from the top, misting with a little water to assist the drips.

I fussy cut my photo and inked the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Black Soot using a foam blending tool.

I diecut a few wings (one of which I coloured with Milled Lavender Distress Ink) and a flower.  I used a strip from Tim Holtz Idea-ology small talk stickers as my title with a little Stabilo to highlight and a little patterned paper to ground my photo.

I finished by tracing roughly around my circles using a waterproof pen and then added my journaling around one of the circles.

Leonie here and I have a page today to share that was based on a moodboard over at Scrap The Girls but I never got around to uploading.  But I was so happy with how it turned out that I decided to share it with all our Scrapping Clearly family instead.

The background was quite easily put together.  I used Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylics in Ruby, Fuchsia and Blushing to create random squares and rectangles on heavy weight Marshmallow cardstock.  

I then used a stabilo pencil to draw a border around each of the rectangles and used a wet paintbrush to smudge out the black line.

Once it was dry I painted the circular shapes in Turquoise and Ocean. Adding some highlights with White Acrylic and repeated the stabilo pencil outline.

Three strips of the gorgeous Dina Wakley Washi Tape down the length of the page added a border and feed into the white space I created on the Left of the page.

I embellished my page with a Heidi Swapp Glitter title.

I also added some Tim Holtz Ideology rubons to the background just to break up the bright reds slightly.
Some gauze to ground my photo, a small cluster of flowers and Tim Holtz Small Talk Stickers 
and my page was complete.

I can hear the gasp of shock from some, but really, it doesn't have to be a scary prospect,

 rather a personal challenge just to do something everyday.

It is an Instagram challenge, 

but one doesn't have to be on Instagram to partake in the fun, 

of course you could just start creating for yourself.

  This challenge started on April 3rd.

Wild And Free Canvas Panel by Leonie Neal-Dawson

Hello, I hope you all are relaxing and enjoying this Easter Weekend.

Our family generally goes camping this weekend but this Easter we are staying home so have no particular plans. I am thinking maybe fitting in some crafting will be an option..? What do you do over Easter Weekend?

Today I have this canvas panel to share with you. 

"She was life itself, wild and free. Wonderfully chaotic, a perfectly put together mess."

9x12" Canvas Panel 

I used this paper 'Bright and Beautiful 1' by Paper Arts. I liked the pastel tones to this paper and thought they looked a little 'Easter-ish' and that's probably where my Easter theme ends!

I cut the paper into lots of different sized squares and rectangles and collaged them onto 

a 9x12" canvas panel using Liquitex Matte Medium.

Next up I used a black Stabilo Aquarellable pencil to define each rectangle and smudged out the lines with a wet paint brush. Some stamping and splashes of watered down Gesso finished of the base of my canvas panel. 

My Chipboard title piece Wild and Free is by Memory Maze. I incorporated this into my quote

"She was life itself, wild and free. Wonderfully chaotic, a perfectly put together mess."

Can I let you know, 'Mess' is how I was feeling about my title chipboard after adding layer after layer to it

before I finally settled on something I was happy with. 

Liquitex Gesso came first but looked too plain, then it was black ink but I didn't like that either. Texture Paste and Dylusions sprays next - that blended in with the background too much! I was really beginning to think it was going to end up in the bin until I added a couple of coats of  Dylusions White Linen Spray. This last layer covered the bright dylusions pinks, purples and teal...but still left a faint tinge of them showing through, that and the earlier layer of texture paste finally made me happy. Phew, I was getting worried there for a bit. 

I accentuated my panel with these lovely Prima flowers, I like that they also had some feathers and so  tied in with the Wild and Free theme.

Happiness on my mind- Details of an Art Journal Page

Howdy Folks , Lisa here with a Friday Mixed media update , 

Today I am sharing with you how I bring a little more detail and fine tuning to an art journal piece.

For this example I'm using a piece that I started at my friend's place last week, and I didn't get too far with it on the day, so yesterday I got to revisit and pimp my page.

I'm using a small Dylusions journal, I do have to say, that I used to see people using the smaller journal

and question, why exactly one would want a smaller journal rather than a bigger one. Now, truth be told, I am slightly addicted to this size atm, I can take it anywhere and less size means using less, and quicker results.

 The Background is really just a few rubbed through stencils to create some easy marks in black and then I added scallops and circles of pink neon Golden paint, a Dina Wakley scribbly face stencil as the focal point,
some Jade Prima Impasto, and a paintbrush from the new Kinder Kreations Art Stash stencil,
(ask Kylie to order it if you want it - I am addicted to mine atm

 I have used the Dina face stencil as a guide line, and cut the face shorter (so it wasn't as long) by adding extra jade impasto. I then added a little more detail and colour into the face with white Liquitex gesso, and a magic pencil-(Stabilo black Aquarelle), a blue posca for the eye, and a white sharpie for the catch light,
also a little pink paint for the lips.

 I added a little more detail around the page by imposing more marks on freshly painted Prima apple green impasto, and then detailed it with a black Fude Ball pen when it was dry.

 I also added an extra row of scallops, a little detail on and down the side of the brush, and a touch on her lips, in impasto pumpkin, to bring more colour and layering into the piece.

At this point, I added the journaling down the side and the title "Happiness on my mind".

 A little more pen detail around the face and eyes, eyelashes etc... and I am happy with the results.

I've been creatively inspired,by the amazing Rae Missingman and with the help of my new 

Vicki Boutin Junk Journal ,its made the flow even more fun and accessible for the charged artist on a mission .Today I am sharing some of the pages from my VB-Junk Journal.

Nothing Perfect , Just Art Therapy

Big love and thanks to Peg for filling in for me last week.

Back this week with my only creative venture in that last 2 weeks, due to work responsibilities.

Those times, when you just need to get paint on a brush and do something to release some creative energy and flow for your own sanity and stress relief. -------Yeah That. 

Nothing perfect , just a little art therapy.

Here is what I did.

Starting with a wet liquitex gesso'd canvas,using a skewer I scratched in some simple words about releasing creativity and flow , to get myself into the mindset of enjoying the process and just having fun.

  I then added some tissue paper using Liquitex Matt Medium, and took to the piece with a Moroccan print stencil and Dinas paints  a few stabilo circle drawn on loosely.

 time to add some striking contrast to shake it up and punch in some colour.

 a little scratched in words while the paint is wet, a few more stencils , working around my piece, always turning it and adding some juxtaposed detail.

 A little fluid movement with some Liquitex acrylic ink and

 a water sprtizer to get the ink moving on the canvas 

I love using the liquitex acrylic inks,because they set and don't reactive like other inks.

 Pumping up the colour with a little more acrylic paint and time to step away and evaluate .

 This is where it is atm, I 'll go back to this piece when I have time and add a little more,

or negative paint into the piece to find something a little more interesting.

Inspired by the Master

Howdy bloggers , Lisa here with a Dina Wakley inspired Mixed Media update..

For me, Dina inspires me like no one else. Her lose flow and colour choices,

Her messy approach and design ideas.

I'm a believer that "Art reflects the individual" in so many ways,

 and if you get a chance to meet Dina you really get to see that colour and happy life flow,

 when she teaches and gives her heART to the class.

Her inspiration has given life to my own creative journey, her products enhance my love for colour and her work allows me the freedom to add that "arty'' feel to my own pieces.

This week,with limited time,I just needed to create something to make me happy.

 Recently I purchased these Dina Wakley Media Art Satchels and had them laying out on the table.

Taking inspiration from the largest satchel I put together this quick art journal page as a warm up.

I'm having a little arty love affair with Dinas Scribble Sticks and Flower Stamps at the moment.

For me , creative time is about play and experimenting to see if it falls together or dies, 

so down time is sometimes putting together simple lines , colour and elements, 

just to actually get something on the page that makes me happy .
