Using Up Remnants - And a Funny Story

Hello Arty Peeps,

Hope the Summer is treating you well and you have access to a cool creative space.

My art room is the only space at our home that has air con, being in the roof of the shed it needs it,

as it's generally about 10-15 degrees hotter up there than outside.

With the current heat wave I have the perfect excuse to get crafty.

However, as you know from this recent post, I am in 'purge & clean' mode.

It is happening, albeit slowly. You see, as I find stuff I want to use rather than discard,

I get distracted.

Case in point.....

I found remnants of this old range - Life Emporium, by Teresa Collins (all on special right now!)

There was not enough to create a giveaway kit, all the packs were half used.

And with the soft pinks and rich egg-yolk yellows teamed with wood grain, well it was just too pretty to toss.

I loved the addition of the natural cork and wood elements too. It seriously was/is a gorgeous range!

So I played. I used up all the papers and most of the packs.

It was a perfect range for these photos, taken inside in front of the timber blind.

Subtle in colour, some busy patterns for interest and movement, but none of it competes with my pics
and the stickers help tell the story.

I used the sticky-back wood dots to anchor everything.

I had enough leftovers to do 2 pages so this story was told too.
This makes me laugh!

The colours in Life Emporium are just so perfect used on kraft cardstock.

To ground my layout I scraped some gesso on the kraft first.

See how well the wood grain matches the kraft? I love it.

My story and pics really are the feature of the page 

because the colours of this range are just so soft.

In my album these pages are a rest for the eyes.

I have plenty more half-used ranges I'm sure.

I see distraction in my imminent future.

Maybe next time I'll put them aside and make up page-kits to take to retreat,

an easy packing solution, although I still have to find storage for them.

My favourite look - Mixed media page by Tania

Hi all, I'm back with you again this week with a little mixed media scrapbook page. I've been in a painty, mixed media mood this week and have had a few arty projects to catch up on. For this post, I'm playing along with our sketch this month, which I love:

I decided to play a little more with my Vicki Boutin mixed media products from the Scrappingclearly store! I have the Art Crayons and Acrylic paints. I found a great new video by Vicki herself, (in two parts), showing many ways of using the Art Crayons, this helped me with some inspiration for my background! Here are the videos here:

So I decided to go with the acrylic block method, and scribbled some colour on there and spritzed with water. I used 3 colours. I added a bit more water and spread with a brush once it was on my background page. I love the subtle look of the colour.

Then I swiped some paint on to the centre of my page using an old credit card. The colour was a bit too stark, so I went over the top with some of the white acrylic paint. 

I then added some texture paste through a TCW stencil and some squirts directly from the black paint bottle!!!

I added another touch of colour using the spray wand from some Dylusions, Melted Chocolate! Take note: if you are using paint in the way I have done here with the squirt method, it takes quite a long time to dry. So use the heat gun or leave overnight. Of course, i am not patient, so have a few finger marks in mine, but hey it's mixed media after all!

I added another layer, with some stamping and I have this cute little paw print stencil in my stash I just had to use for this page.

My papers and embellishments are from my very first DT kit from Scrappingclearly. Teresa Collins Life Emporium. The papers and matching embellishments went perfect with my background and photo. Embellishments used were:

TC LE Label Stickers

TC cork pieces

There's also a Studio Calico wood veneer, which I painted black & some Ranger enamel accents, which you can see on the images below!

And here is the end result!!

You are the reason I smile...Moodboard inspired layout by Tania

Hello again Scrappingclearly members, hope you are all flying along with your entries for our sketch and moodboard this month!!! How cool is that, 2 challenges per month now. It certainly helps having a challenge or two to inspire us DT girls each month. So here's the fab mood board again, in case you haven't seen it yet....

And here's my take on the board. No guesses here for which colour jumped out at me the most. But, if you look carefully, you will see that I was inspired by many elements of the board. The gold is obvious, the woodgrain,  you can see a hint of in my embellishments:

Once again I'm using a mix of Maggie Homes, Bloom and Dear Lizzy Happy Place collections. The gorgeous gold, foil vellum is Maggie Holmes, as is the washi tape sticker love heart. (I've mounted that onto some patterned paper to lift it off the page.)

The cute little wood dots and chipboard stickers are from the Teresa Collins, Life Emporium range! (Which are on special in the shop right now...yay!)

I am a fan of the American Crafts gold, foil thickers, love them! The little glitter dots are from my own stash, a great little $2 shop find.

For my background, I had run out of white cardstock, which is just not cool!! I go through it so fast, can't keep up. Here's me sitting in my chair thinking, what can I do. Well, hello, I have more patterned paper than you can poke a stick at, so I turned to a 12x12 pad of Heidi Swapp paper, which is only one sided, and chose a pattern that I have used before, and even though I cringed a little, I had a perfectly white background on the other side to work on! I'm sure I'm not the first person to do it!!!

So, I backed this onto a perfectly coloured piece of Maggie Holmes...My dear paper.

There's a Heidi Swapp tag on there, some twine from my stash and a doily, which you can never have enough of! I really wanted to keep this layout of my beautiful boy, clean and simple, so I typed my journaling on the computer and printed on copy paper, giving the edges a swipe with Distress ink for definition.

I hope I have inspired you to give the moodboard a whirl and come up with something. Don't forget, it doesn't have to be a scrapbook layout, you can make a card, or OTP project, Art Journal page, or even a tag, good practice for our new tag swap maybe!!! Hello Gorgeous Cards with Cork by Tania

Hi everyone! Today I've made a cute set of cards with the Heidi Swapp HELLO GORGEOUS papers. These have been such a pleasure to work with, so versatile!!! For something a little different, I thought I would incorporate these cute Cork pieces from Teresa Collins' Life Emporium range. (There are over 20 pieces in the pack!)

I'm being very frugal with these papers and using every last morsel! The black floral strip is the cut off strip from one of the papers. I made it stretch to all 3 cards, even made a tab out of it with my tab punch.

On this card, I used a yellow Gelato crayon & a water brush to add some colour to the flowers. I've backed the cork embellishment with some of the patterned paper scraps to highlight it!

My sentiments all came from a cute Alphabet Sticker pack from Prima. The ribbon you see is cut from those lovely Kaisercraft Ribbon Roses, which I am getting very good mileage out of!!

To finish off the cards, I added a few gold sequins!!! Hope you like them and I have inspired you to make some cards today!!! Happy Crafting!!!

Teresa Collins, Life Emporium Mini Album by Tania

Hi everyone,

It's my turn here today, lucky last post for the month!!! Hope you all had a lovely Easter!

I had so many pages left in my Teresa Collins Life Emporium paper pack, that I decided to make a cute little mini album and scrap a day spent with my parents while they visited over the Christmas & New Year break. 

I surfed my Pinterest boards for a little tutorial and came up with this one from Paper Vine!

You start with 8 pieces of patterned paper, each cut to 4" x 8".

Next, you fold all the pieces in half, with the side of the paper you want to show, on the inside, then glue the pieces together, back to back to create the pages! (Make sure your folds are always aligned.)

When all pieces are dry, round the corners with a corner rounder punch!

Cut another piece of paper to 8.5" x 4" for the cover, & round the outside corners.

Make two score lines, at 4" & 4.25", to create the spine for your book!

Glue your cover to the front of book 1st, then glue the back, do not glue the spine!

That's pretty much it!!! You now have a mini book ready to decorate, and you will find the quality of these Teresa Collins papers is beautiful, and when doubled up, they make very sturdy pages.

I used the Life Emporium Decorative Stickers, label stickers, cork/wood dots and the cork pieces to decorate my album! Here's a few of the inside pages!

I hope I've inspired you to create your own little mini album. So quick and easy, and when you have a few pics you want to scrap, for a special occasion, it's a great little keepsake! Using a kit or a paper pack means you will have all of your papers and pages coordinated for a cohesive look!

Life Emporium Card & Tag by Tania Ballestrin

Hi everyone, Tania here again to share a couple of projects I made using my Teresa Collins Life Emporium kit.

The first one is an Anniversary card I made, using a few of the different papers from the 12x12" paper pack & a pretty chipboard topper from the Chipboard Elements pack. Other embellishments used, all from my kit were the rub ons, cardstock stickers, brads & the very pretty Kaisercraft, ribbon roses. (These are so versatile, I cut one down to make it slightly smaller than the first one.

My 2nd project is a tag! I love tags BTW!!! 

I started with the cork paper from the 12 x 12" paper pack as my base, to match the card and cut my tag shape from a template! I always make my own re-enforcement rings from patterned paper to match, using a single hole punch and small circle punch.

I then painted a rough layer of Gesso in the middle of my tag! While that was drying, I carefully cut apart one of the ribbon roses, (they are rolled and attatched to some cute netting, & if you are careful enough to cut them away from the netting, you end up with a long ribbon!) To build the layers, I used a scrap of patterned paper, attatched the ribbon to the top and bottom of the paper before sticking down, then inked the edges of whole tag with Distress ink. I wrapped a length of ribbon around the middle and made a knot, popped another length in the top and made a bow and finished off tag with these embellishments, all from my kit. Chipboard elements, brads, rub ons & some of the gorgeous little cork pieces. (These are so cute, check out this closer view below!)

Celebrate '13' layout by Tania Ballestrin

Hi everyone, Tania here, sharing my very first post as part of this amazing Design Team at Scrappingclearly!!! (So very thankful to be here among some very talented ladies!!!)

I was lucky enough to be given this gorgeous Teresa Collins Paper kit- LIFE EMPORIUM, & accessories to play with! 

I used this month's sketch & chose to scrap about my daughter turning 13 years old recently. There were a few celebrations, but her favourite was spending the night in a Hotel room with myself and a couple of her friends. They drank pretend champagne with strawberries, it was very cute!!!

 I love woodgrain anything, so used that as my base pages, with a layer of Gesso & some splatters! I then layered with the sketch as a guide, using nearly every paper in the collection! I made my own tags & re-enforcement rings from the papers, rounded off the corners & popped some household string in them. 

There were so many gorgeous embellishments to compliment the range, including rub ons, chipboard & die cut stickers & brads! ( I especially love the wooden dots!!!) 

The alphas by We R Memory Keepers were pretty cool, with a kind of reptile leather look!!! 

I used a tab punch & made another tag for my hidden journaling, with a little flower rub on to embellish!

There is still so much of the kit left to play with, so I will have fun seeing what else I can create with it! Don't forget to check out the march sketch and play along! Till next time, happy scrapping!!!

Welcome to my share today on the Scrapping Clearly blog today I am sharing my take on the sketch I have made my take a fraction more masculine. The sketch is an awesome sketch for using multiple photos.

i ahve used the awesome Life's Emporium range from Teresa Collins to complete my layout and don't you just love how the buttons work so well the range is so well thought out and has such an earthy feel to it it just works so well with many different photos.

 

now this is the sketch I would so love to see what you make with it.

 Hello everyone welcome to my moodboard challenge post today i am sharing a layout I have created using some amazing products from Scrapping Clearly's amazing shop using the beautiful Life Emporium range from Teresa Collins, chipboard from Your Creative Wings and Dylusions Paint.

I have used the colours in the moodboard to create my layout.

I just love the Your creative wings chipboard and it accepts the colour so well and remains firm

I have used the amazing pack for cork embellishments to make my title this product from the Lifes emporium range is just amazing
