Melodies from Down Under - With Karyn Schultz!

Hi Scrapping Clearly Lovelies,

It's Karyn here, and today I have an art journal page to share with you made using lots of goodies available in the Scrapping Clearly Store.

This page is inspired by the Scrapping Clearly Australia Day Cybercrop Challenge 7 - Melodies from Down Under! We would love for you to join the cybercrop and be in the running to win fabulous prizes - you have until Friday February 1 and you enter by uploading your photo to the album in the facebook group here.

I've chose the band INXS (which I remember fondly from my teenage years) and the song "Don't Change" which is all about remaining true to yourself!

I'm using a Small Dylusions journal. I apply Dylusions paints in Black Marble, White Linen and Post Box Red using a mini blending foam. I chose these colours to match with the classic INXS title. 

 

Next I did some stencilling using the Dylusions small staggered brickwork, small triangles and TCW mini tile texture stencil. 

 

I finished the pages with some pics printed from the internet, some cotton thread, tags and Tim Holtz Idea-ology Small Talk word stickers.

Lastly I wrote the words to the song around the edges of my pages with a Fude Ball pen.

Summer Fun - Scrapbook page with DT Katie Howard

Wow, December already, can you believe it?! For us that means hot and often sticky summer heat and lots of water play. So I thought it was only fitting to make my first share for December a fun in the summer sun kind of page, and I thought that the Crate Paper Good Vibes collection was perfect to reflect the summer fun.

So let's check out the page first:

The photos that I picked were some action "jumping in the pool" shots of my nieces. Bright, summer and fun photos and perfect with the Good Vibes papers. I started with the paper Passion which is one of my favourites as it has multi-coloured free-hand style stripes, and I am a sucker for a good stripey paper!

I started with two blocks of this paper and created two areas of interest on each side of the page. I used the reverse of the Passion paper to mat the photos so they would stand out. The revers is a gorgeous shade of blue with black dots, also a sucker for a good spotty paper!

I also layered some of the neutral kraft spotty paper All Good on both blocks, and finished each block with a hand made tag using the Hashtag paper, which is a great pink grid with geometric type lines in heavier pink, so there is design but a subtlety as well.

Here you can see the tag a little closer, and also part of the title which was using the co-ordinating puffy sticker words. Can you see the subtle stencilling I added on the background as well? I decided the small shutters stencil from Dylusions would be perfect because it reminded me of the free-hand stripey paper and I used it with some Tattered Rose distress oxide ink because this was a pretty could match to the peachy pinks in the collection and it was also nice and subtle. I also added some splatters using the Picked Raspberry to match the brighter pinks in the papers.

I cut one of the pom-pom frames in half and used it like a photo corner for the top right and bottom left photos, adding some dimension and texture to the photo cluster. I also added a cactus from the ephemera pack, I decided due to the landscaping around the pool this was probably as good a time as any to add in cactus embellishments!

The right hand side focused on a card cut from the So Chill paper, which has lots of great cut-apart cards on one side and a very usable pattern on the other. Add in some chipboard from the Chipboard sticker sheet with foil accents, again more cactus, and a ticket from the ephemera and this side was a wrap. The last thing to do was add a little journaling which I did using a black paint pen, I love how black these pens are for journaling, even if it is only on plain cardstock. And there you have it, page done!

Fun Page with DT Katie Howard

Good Morning! Welcome to another Scrapping Clearly blog post. Today I thought I would share with you just how versatile the Fancy Pants Take Note collection really is, especially since it is a school themed collection!

I decided that I wanted to try and create a more feminine page using this collection, and guess what?! It was really easy to do, especially as there was some pink tones and even a floral in the collection. Here is the page that I created:

The corkboard paper is so perfect for the background, so that is where I started. You get two of each paper in the collection kit, plus some die-cuts and cards so you have lots to use with one kit! I created some paper layers behind my photos after first backing them using some of the pretty gold tissue paper that my Scrapping Clearly order comes wrapped in! Don't forget to keep that in your stash and use it, what a bonus!

I decided I needed some soft detail on the background so I decided to grab my distress oxide ink in Faded Jeans because it worked with the darker blue in the paper. I started with a stencil and added some background detail, I used the Dyan Reaveley alphabet border stencil. After I added to the background I decided I wanted a border as well, so I masked off the alphabet part of the stencil and used the dashed lines with my ink to create a border all the way around my page, I just love how it looks!

One thing that I love to do with my paper scraps is create tags, they are so easy to make and are perfect for tucking into layers, you can then add buttons or enamel dots or ribbons or bows to them as well.

I created a little cluster with some of the tags using some die-cuts from the kit and also some chipboard from the Maggie Holmes Gather thicker set. Some of the colours in here are a perfect match! And it is nice to mix and match collections and manufacturers too.

I decided to print my journaling and stick it on, but used a sweet heart from the Gather thicker set and also one of the flowers from the Heidi Swapp Vintage Chic trimmings pack. These flowers are just made to crinkle and distress. I cut mine in half and layered slightly offset before tucking under my journal block. I also tucked one under the tags at the top. These were just the right shade of pink, and added a girly touch too.

I used the word "Today" from the Gather thicker set for my title, as this was an every day moment and nothing in particular, and it is an easy way to add a title, and let's face it, I am all about easy!

Last of all I added some splatters using some Heidi Swapp color shine, there are so many pretty colours to choose from, I used navy and gold.

#Smile - a layout with Crate Paper Good Vibes

Good morning Scrapping Clearly friends,

Lisa here today to share a scrapbooking layout featuring loads of Crate Paper Good Vibes collection.

How adorable are these Embossed Puffy Stickers. They were the inspiration for this layout.

I started with a base of white cardstock and swiped on some Dylusions Paint in Rose Quartz. I got out one of my favourite Dylusions stencils and added some dots with Dylusions Paint in Peony Blush . My last step was some circles stamped with yellow paint and a lid and some extra pink with this stencil from Dusty Attic.

I cut tags and other embellishments from the Crate Paper Good Vibes 6 x 6 paper pad. I cut a Pom Pom frame in half to highlight my photo, added in some of those sweet embossed puffy stickers and a flair badge from Heidi Swapp's Hello Today Flair badges and buttons. The funky black and white stripe paper is a strip from a plaid paper from Dear Lizzy Happy Place called Top Notch (on sale at the moment - bargain). 

I also added some teeny gold glitter hearts and letter stickers from Heidi Swapp's Memory Planner line. The alphas are such a great size for project life and subtitles. A cute little Geo Tag from these stickers, a date stamp and some typed strips of journalling finished off my layout.

Playdate with New Dylusions goodies

Howdy Bloggers , Lisa here with a Friday Mixed media update .

Today I am sharing a quick layout using the super fun new Dylusions stamp/stencil set ,

 the new Dylusions mushy peas paint and 

a new Dina Wakley Scribbly Bird Cousins stamp set.

 oh ,I have been blessed by incredible Ranger goodness.

I started with a piece of Marshmellow cardstock and

 these new set of Dylusions Stamp /Stencil Borders 

 Starting with the stencil and the mushy peas , zesty lime and teal paint.

 When dry I stamped the corresponding stamp over the image .

* try to ease the stamp off the plastic carefully.

 I just hastly pulled mine off and have seemed to have stretched the longer one -which I used 1st.

 I used the Dylusions Journal Block to mount my stamps.

 I selected a strip of flowers from the new Dina Wakley Media 

Scribbly Birds Cousins stamp pack above.

 Spritzed a piece of Marshmellow cardstock with New Dylusions Ink in Peony Blush - love this colour and Rose Quartz and stamped some flowers , which I fussy cut from the page.

 A few strips of various Washi Tape - Dina & Jane D , a little muslin , prima journal cards and the matted photos of my eldest daughter , taken 8 yrs apart were ready to stick down . 

Just a  simple title ,journaling around the border, chipboard and sequins to finish off .

Circle Journal page by Tania

Hi again, I'm back today, filling in for one of our other DT members, and I want to share my latest Circle Journal page with you, inspired by this month's moodboard! I love this moodboard, the colours are totally me! Here it is:

For those of you who don't know, we here at Scrappingclearly are involved in a 12 month Circle Journal swap. We have each created our own Journals out of paper bags, created a cover and title page, and then we pop them in the mail and send on to the next person in our group. At the end of 12 months, we will have them returned to us, with 12 amazing entries from other crafty peeps! I cannot wait to get mine back at the end of the year!

So I am working in another member's journal this month. This is what they look like before you begin!

And then after the first few layers of Gesso, acrylic paint and some stencil work.....

I swiped my paint on using an old credit card, I really like the effects you can achieve!  The next layer was using more acrylic paint and bubble wrap as a stamp!

I then wanted to add a layer of stamping, which I did with a coffee stain stamp and some Archival ink in black!

On the next image you can see a little more of the texture leaf pattern which was achieved using one of my favourite, Dylusion's stencils, the Leafy flourish.

I mixed a little of the powder from a Lindy's Starburst Colour shot , into some texture paste to get a shade of green!

After all the colour mediums went on, I stamped some of the cute birds from the 

Dylusions, Put a bird on it, stamp set, onto a piece of Maggie Holmes, Open Book paper, PAGES. I coloured them in with markers and stuck them on the page. The strip of patterned paper is from the Shimelle Starshine scraps I had left over and the quote is also fussy cut from the Shimelle, ASTRO, paper!

You can see here, I added some detail to my stamped black circles, using a few different paint pens. I have the fine, Dylusions paint pens and a thick Posca paint pen. Just love them!!!

To finish it off, I added some journal lines with a marker, and journaled to the theme of this person's book, which is: PIECES OF ME! You will see, I couldn't help myself and added more black circles, this time using the lid from one of my paint dabbers, and some Archival ink!!! (Love getting the most out of all my stash!)

And here is the end result, all ready to pop in a bag and send it on to the next happy crafter!!!!
