Wander and Take It In with Melinda

Hello scrappy friends!! Melinda here with you today sharing my latest DT make for ScrappingClearly!

For today's post I was really inspired by this months sketch challenge, once again created by the very talented Peg! If you have yet to see it here it is

And here is my creation

I have used the very fun Citrus Bliss collection available ON SALE in store now and I will provide links at the end of my post!

I really stuck to the sketch as much as possible for this one - I really loved all those layers behind and next to the photo's.

It took me a while to find the "right" photos for this page but after a bit of digging I found these 2 from our Honeymoon back in 2008 - a good size and the "right" orientation for the sketch!

I was busting to get these Thickers out and used so after some struggle getting the wording correct for the story I wanted to tell I got the Wander and the Take It In phrase on the page!

Paired, of course with some gorgeous Colour Blast Sienna in both the Colour Paste and Colour Shimmer Spray.

If you would like to see my whole process just click on the play button below and you can watch my process video on the ScrappingClearly YT channel - and make sure you hit the subscribe button so you never miss a DT share on the channel!

I hope I have given you some last minute inspiration to play along with the sketch this month, make sure if you do you add it to the correct album over on the ScrappingClearly FB group to be in the draw to win a voucher to the ScrappingClearly store!!

That's it for me for today, thanks so much for stopping by!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

Melinda

August sketch - by Chloe

Hello scrappers!  Who needs some sketch inspiration today?

I simplified the sketch quite a bit, only used one photo, and added a cluster to suit my style.  Instead of the splattering, I used patterned paper as my background.

You'll see I kept the main elements the same, the strip up the top of the page and down the bottom ...

And I moved the title to the place of the 2nd photo ...

I hope you'll play along with our challenges this month!  It's a fun sketch to use!

Pool Side Fun - Layout by Tania

Hi lovely people!! Today I have my take on this month's Sketch!! (Which is here if you haven't already seen it!)

I loved the simplicity of this sketch, although, because of the size of my photos, I had to change the photo placement slightly, but that's ok. A sketch is designed to get our creative juices flowing! If you want to change it around slightly, you can!

I am using up more left over bits from my DT kits! (Teresa Collins, Something Wonderful & Pink Paislee Atlas ranges.)

The papers are from the Atlas collection!
The embellishments, washi tape and tag are from the Something Wonderful Collection, and there are some cute little wood veneer arrows from Studio Calico. (I painted these black!)

The cute little star stamps are from Heidi Swapp, these are great for your dates, and the tiny stars, added just a little more to my white space and helped highlight my embellishment clusters.

I cut one of the tags from the Teresa Collins, Something Wonderful ephemera and tag pack, into two pieces and used in different spots under my photos. Then I embellished with stickerschipboard stickers, stamps and patterned paper. The small alpha stickers are also Teresa Collins.

Some of these Teresa Collins products are on special in the Scrappingclearly store! head on over if you see anything here that catches your eye!!!

Hope you enjoyed my layout today! Have fun playing along with this month's challengs!

August sketch inspiration- My Girl

Hi ScrappingClearly fans,

Its my turn to share some scrappy inspiration to get us started in August. Here is my take on the great sketch challenge for this month. I have used lots of Heidi Swapp goodies to do this page, some from the Magnolia Jane collection.
There were so many lovely papers I couldn't decide which to use to document these gorgeous photos of my little Miss. But I went with the watercolor paper to give the splattered paint look that is in the background of the sketch. I matted the paper onto the black and white geometric patterned paper to give the pink paper a subtle lift.

It took a little (maybe a lot) of fussing around to get the key elements of the sketch just right, but once I did then it was a matter of embellishing the page and done.
I think this is a beautiful and elegant girl layout, thanks to the lovely Magnolia Jane collection which is available in the ScrappingClearly store.

Also pop over to the ScrappingClearly YouTube channel to see a process video.

3, 2, 1, Cheese - With Karyn!

Hi Scrapping Clearly Lovelies!!!

It's Karyn here and today I have a scrapbook page to share with you based on my interpretation of the August sketch challenge over on the Scrapping Clearly Blog. There are some awesome prizes to be won and you have all month to enter either via the linky or on the Scrapping Clearly facebook group.
Here is the sketch I followed.
I started with a white sheet of cardstock and had some mixed media fun with it. I used a bubble pattern stencil and teal and navy Colorshine on a piece of cardstock, then I turned the stencil over and stamped it on another piece of cardstock (I couldn't waste the spray could I!!). Then I took another stencil and appplied a Heidi Swapp metallic texture paste randomly across both pages.
I chose the "stamped stencil" pattern to use for todays scrapbook page - the other page is saved for next time! I then chose a selection of papers (Shemille Starshine) and Color Magic Notes (also sprayed with teal and Navy ColorShine) to use on my page. Using Colour Magic papers and notes and ColorShine is a perfect way to coordinate papers and patterns with the rest of your page.
Here is my finished page. These colours coordinate perfectly with the photo of my 2 "posers" on a family day outing!
I've pretty much stuck with the sketch - I find that following a sketch takes a lots of the placement thinking away and makes scrapbooking quicker and fun!
I've added a cluster of wood veneer, flowers and some words cut from one of the strips of patterned papers.
Instead of adding the journalling directly on my page I've added to the back of this Color Magic Note card.

Here you can see more of the detail of the reverse stencil and the metallic texture paste.
Scrapping Clearly products I've used include

Heidi Swapp Teal metallic texture paste

This is Family with Melinda

Hi there and welcome to the blog today! Melinda here with you sharing my take on the August sketch challenge!

Remember, Kylie has some AWESOME prizes up for grabs so you have until the end of the month to link your entries or share over in the FB group here.

Now, onto the good stuff!

First up, the sketch!

How fun is it? I really love working with sketches and the longer I scrap the more confident I become with using them and making them more my own :)

And here is my take

I have used some papers from the awesome Heidi Swapp September Skies range (Aspen and Stargazing) as my background and decided to start the page doing a cut in the background of a scattering of stars rather than the circles in the sketch and LOVE how this turned out!

Before I added any of my layers I decided that it needed some fun mixed media mess in the background (I had originally thought I would not use any!!) so started with a thin coat of clear gesso and then grabbed out my jar of fabulous Colour Blast Mica Powder in watermelon, added some water and used my water brush to add some colour around the stars. I ended up going back over some areas with a 2nd coat to deepen the colour up and am really happy with how it came out!

I added a couple of paper layers behind my photo using both sides of the Beautiful Bouquet patterned paper (not before cutting off that floral to use on another page another day!). I went to follow the sketch more closely but realised that with extra paper layers I would cover up all of those stars and mixed media so stuck to just a couple of simple layers. As the sketch called for an embellishment cluster on the bottom left of the photo I grabbed some of the gorgeous florals from the ephemera pack and layered those up. In my DT kit Kylie also sent me this awesome pack of banners from the September Skies range which also have the extra detail of the sewing to hold them all together -swoon, which worked perfectly with the sketch!

I added a few embellishments and that awesome wood veneer word to the right hand side and used the Made Of Awesome alphas that Kylie also sent me for my title.

Here are a few close ups

Also I have a process video here for this layout if you would like to see how this page came together!

Thanks so much for stopping by and make sure you link up your sketch to the right hand side or FB page sketch challenge album to win some awesome prizes!!

Fun and Fancy

Good Morning, Michelle here with a new month and new challenges!!  I am excited to share the August Sketch and I loved the circle design. Here are some beautiful products that I was able to create with.

Maggie Holmes Flea Market 12 inch vellum is so beautiful and can be sewn through quite easily. I have never used a whole sheet of vellum as a background and I was happy with the result.

Close up of the machine stitching around the doily and through the chipboard shapes.
I am loving the gold trend at the moment and if you are after Gold Albums take a look at the Scrapping Clearly store as they have some very pretty gold ones.

These tags were cut from Teresa Collins Studio Gold  journal cards.

Can't wait to see your interpretation of the August sketch. Have a lovely day creating!
