The Great Indoors - Australian - Inspired Mixed-Media Scrapbook Layout

Another month (where is this year going?) and another colour 

Hello creative friends! Today I’m sharing “The Great Indoors,” a humorous mixed-media scrapbook layout inspired by the colours and textures of the Australian bush. I used eucalyptus green, natural stone, copper and rusty finishes to complement the wildlife photograph and create plenty of earthy texture.

Here's a layout inspired by the great outdoors - just wish the wildlife would stay out there!

I began with the gum leaf stencil and Bundled Sage and Pumice Stone Distress Inks to establish the soft botanical background. Limestone Stone Effects Paste added raised texture, while 13@rts Rusty Powder and Simon Hurley Lunar Paste introduced the aged copper details.

Film strip, chipboard, a jumbo tag and a fabric bow completed the layered design. The combination of natural colours, metallic highlights and playful embellishments makes this a fun interpretation of an Australian-inspired scrapbook page.

 Hi everyone

This layout was inspired by the cute puppy on this month's mood sketch.

We have a new puppy in our household, officially called Willow but also known as Destructo & Hoover. (The last thing she chewed was a metal watering can which can hardly have been palatable!)

   I started with some white cad stock as a base then blended through a Vicki Boutin Color Study Bubbles stencil, some Distress ink in Cracked Pistachio, Twisted Citron and Kitsch Flamingo.

I added some Colour Blast paste (Punch) through another stencil and then some Radient Gel mixed with Impasto through an old Dots Fade stencil.   

I added a Dear Lizzy die cut phrase as my tile and then some embellishments from my stash including

chipboard frames, enamel dots and shapes, a flair, bow, pins, twine and an Ideaology Small Talk Occasions sticker..

 Hi everyone and happy crafting Tuesday (that's a thing right?!)

You know when you start with only a vague idea where you're going?

Well, this is what happens.   

I got lost in the weeds but eventually made it out the other side!

I started with my go-to white card stock and added some Art Philosophy water color and some Lindy's powders.

I then ripped up some Prima tissue paper and stuck it down with gel medium.

I then added some paint using a brayer but finished up with way too much green

so wiped some off with a baby wipe through a stencil.   I still wasn't happy so I went over entire page with gesso.   In the weeds, right?

 

While the gesso was drying I went back in with a baby wipe and took off some of the gesso being careful not to take too much or I'd be back where I started.

I then added some more Lindy's powders and some distress inks.   I gave my chippies a light coat of gesso and then sponged on some Distress Ink to the edges and added a little glitter with a glitter Posca pen. 

I had everything stuck down then decided my background needed something else so I carefully pulled everything up and added some stamping.

 And this is what I finished up with

Buckle Up Buttercup

Welcome to another fantastic weekend of creativity. I hope you are enjoying creating with the August moodboard. A couple of weekends ago I created a layout using a car like the one in moodboard and have found another photo similar to create with. I take a lot of similar photos at different angles when the kids were little - they each have a different story. In this one my little boy was so proud that he got to drive the car at Dreamworld. If we could only keep them this young and cute.

For this layout I chose some 12x12 Vicki Boutin paper from the Let'sWander range - Beach Vibe & Chasing Stars. I used the Chasing stars paper as the base and used a strip of the Beach Vibe as a layer.

I have added a little of the Ranger Distress Ink - speckled egg to the background. I did this by adding it to plastic & spraying a little water before tipping it and dabbing it on the cardstock in a few places.

After the ink had dried I then stamped in a few places the Stampers Anonymous stamp - Grunged  . I used Liquitex Modelling paste with a Dina Wakley stencil - Wheels. Once all of this was dry I marked out with a pencil where my photo and layering cardstock would go and then took them away and used my sewing machine to add some black borders.

As I added all the layers I found some grey loose cardstock on my desk to add under the photo also. I built up the photo using foam tape. I have then stamped a few small dots using Ranger Ink and a Viva Las Vegas stamp. The title was created in the Silhouette and coloured using an Artline black marker and raised on the layout using foam tape. I have used some yellow stickers and stars from the Heidi Swapp Stationary set and used a good amount of the Studio Calico timber embellishments that came in the pack. To add to the boy theme I added some chipboard cogs coloured with Staz On - midnight. I finished off the layout by adding a flair & some older rub-ons I had in my stash and Vicki Boutin heart stickers - because they are super cute.

Epic food

Hi everyone, I'm back in the land of creating!

Can't tell you how much I've missed it.

This LO was inspired by this months fabulous mood board.

I started my background by using the shaving foam technique.    Anyone remember doing this as a kid? I sprayed some shaving cream onto a tray and added some dots of acrylic paint then swirled them around using a skewer.   I then lightly dragged some Bazzil Marshmallow card stock through the shaving cream.   So random and such fun.   Definitely will be doing this again.   The cardstock held up really well too to all the moisture.

I used some Art Anthology Velvet dimensional paint (Reef) through a star stencil, some Distress Ink (Mustard Seed) with a Colour Blast stamp  and a little spray of Dylusions (Squeezed Orange).

I finished off with Heidi Swapp stars, Pink Paislee sticker and more Heidi Swapp word stickers and alphas.   Check out the shop for a fabulous range of all things Heidi Swapp!
