BLOOM by Tracey Thorne

 Welcome to November my friends and a new Moodboard has gone live over on the Scrapping Clearly Share and Inspire Facebook Page and it is a cracker... full of colour and life. I hope you enjoy what I have put together to kick your Saturday of creativity off!

I started by splodging some Izink Dye Ink by Seth Apter in flamingo on to the page. I then worked out placement for my photo and worked around that by adding black stitching. To this I have used the AALL & Create stencil #49 by Olga Helidwein and some Tim Holtz distress Texture Paste. I dried this using my heat tool. I have then added colour to the mandalas by using Vicki Boutin crayons and a little water. At this stage I have also added the stitched black border and added a little more water colour to the edges of the layout.

I have then stamped in black ink under the photo using the AALL & Create stamp #441 by Bipasha BK I have also added a little stamped script to drag out the line of the stitched rectangle I have created. 

The photo has been layered on some muslin, Project Life Acetate binder tab, Heidi Swapp stickers with a little added cotton in pink and black.

I stamped out a few more of the AALL & Create #441 stamps and fussy cut them - then used a little water colour crayon again to match their stamping.

 

Other embellishments added were some little dewdrop crystals, Heidi Swapp stickers, Heidi Swapp epoxy word-cuteness.

For the title I chose a quote that I have typed out and highlighted the word BLOOM by using thickers.

 I am still finding pages that need to be cleared off my desk. I think I am up to the fifth one now. Slowly slowly will win this race 😏. I hope you are all enjoying your weekend thus far and are ready to get messy and creative.  This layout was all about just finding things that were on my desk that I chose not to use on other layouts and was too lazy to pop away. 

I started with a pre-worked piece of white cardstock which had a bubble stencil used on it with Liquitex modelling paste and some Dina Wakley paint in fuschia mixed through it {I am thinking but going from a very bad retention of memory}. I freshened the paint up with a little gesso over the top and a quick rub off with a wipe. I added a little black stitching across the page and then created a rectangular border to encompass the ephemera and photo. A little black shadow was added along the line using and ALLS pencil and smudging it with water.

  

I have then layered a few bits and pieces of paper & fabric ephemera - A playing card, old tags, some Muslin that I dyed with some yum Speckled Egg Ink, off cuts from Vicki Boutin & Heidi Swapp printed paper, Calico, Tab from Flutterby Designs, number cutfile created by myself. At this stage I added the photo and stitched an ephemera tag to tie it all together. I have also added hand stitching to the top and bottom corners of the photo. I found staples were the quickest and easiest way to attach a lot of this layering with a little glue for good measure squirted underneath.

I have then added a little more 3D ephemera to this page using Tim Holtz arrows, clock face and gasket. I have added a few wood numbers also and a offcut of hexagon chippy. Ooh and stamping I needed to add a little more black for balance. I have used AALL & Create Checkmate stamps which help tie in with the muslin check. I have also added my title using Heidi Swapp Acetate word - journey.

Finally I used some Tim Holtz Rub ons to add a few more words to the page. A blacked stitched border finished my page off. 

I do hope you have a creative weekend... bit jealous that Kylie has her retreat this weekend and I live a million miles away and just have to wish from afar. Have a fabulous retreat everyone!

Buckle Up Buttercup

Welcome to another fantastic weekend of creativity. I hope you are enjoying creating with the August moodboard. A couple of weekends ago I created a layout using a car like the one in moodboard and have found another photo similar to create with. I take a lot of similar photos at different angles when the kids were little - they each have a different story. In this one my little boy was so proud that he got to drive the car at Dreamworld. If we could only keep them this young and cute.

For this layout I chose some 12x12 Vicki Boutin paper from the Let'sWander range - Beach Vibe & Chasing Stars. I used the Chasing stars paper as the base and used a strip of the Beach Vibe as a layer.

I have added a little of the Ranger Distress Ink - speckled egg to the background. I did this by adding it to plastic & spraying a little water before tipping it and dabbing it on the cardstock in a few places.

After the ink had dried I then stamped in a few places the Stampers Anonymous stamp - Grunged  . I used Liquitex Modelling paste with a Dina Wakley stencil - Wheels. Once all of this was dry I marked out with a pencil where my photo and layering cardstock would go and then took them away and used my sewing machine to add some black borders.

As I added all the layers I found some grey loose cardstock on my desk to add under the photo also. I built up the photo using foam tape. I have then stamped a few small dots using Ranger Ink and a Viva Las Vegas stamp. The title was created in the Silhouette and coloured using an Artline black marker and raised on the layout using foam tape. I have used some yellow stickers and stars from the Heidi Swapp Stationary set and used a good amount of the Studio Calico timber embellishments that came in the pack. To add to the boy theme I added some chipboard cogs coloured with Staz On - midnight. I finished off the layout by adding a flair & some older rub-ons I had in my stash and Vicki Boutin heart stickers - because they are super cute.

#Circa 1980ish

 A new month sees us with a new moodboard and this one is a cracker. The colours are so versatile for all types of creativity... who doesn't like a bit of yellow and blue? Instead of the grey I wanted to test out my new coffee Izink ... but there will lots more creating for me this month so I will have a play with the moodboard again next week.

To create my layout I started with a base of white cardstock and to that I added some Izink dye spray - coffee - by spraying it on a piece of plastic and then pressing it on the page. I then did the same process for Art philosophy watercolour - ginger. 

I then went to my stash of ephemera - all that stuff you get in a pack but forget it is there - and started pulling out lots of kraft and brown toned tags & labels. I did a bit of paper shuffling to work out what shapes I needed and put them on the page.

After marking out where my ephemera layers were going I took a pencil and lightly drew a rectangle on my page which I later sewed around a couple of times. I have used the 13@rts stamp - unforgettable with Ranger black ink . I have also added a splash of Art Philosophy watercolor - truth 

I have added a little more depth by choosing Prima Art Alchemy paint - plum preserve in a couple of places to highlight the layers & pick up those tones in the photo. I used a spot stencil to add a little more texture to the page by adding a thick layer of Liquitex modelling paste. I have added this to extend past all the layers when they are added.

 

I double stacked the photo and added foam tape to the top photo. All the layers of ephemera were added by popping them under the photo in places. I have used some Vicki Boutin stickers, Tim Holtz rub ons, Thickers foam alpha, Ephemera tickets, Cocoa Vanilla Boys Rule word stickers.

I finished the layout off by adding some side journalling and some black cotton under the photo.

ATC's - get a little bit of creativity happening.

Welcome back to the blog and for taking time out on the weekend to get yourself in the creative zone.  I have been very blessed over the past few months to attend some arty retreats and I am sharing some of my work from last weekend’s retreat on the Sunshine Coast of Oz. There is so much creative energy flowing when you attend a retreat or arty escape as I like to think of them. I cannot vouch for them enough to help refill your cup and recharge your creative energy.

I have created three ATC {Artist Trading Cards} all themed a little differently. An ATC is created using a background measuring 2.5” by 3.5”. I have used plain white cardstock as a base and have prepped each card using white gesso.

 Card 1 – I used Vicki Boutin water colour crayon in orange to colour the cardstock. Then I used water to disperse the colour evenly. I have then used a spot stencil and rubbed off excess colour.  

Card 2 – Vicki Boutin water colour crayon in pink was used. I placed a Kinder Kreations stencil on top and then wiped away the colour leaving the white resist.

Card 3 = Vicki Boutin water colour crayon in blue was used with the same technique as Card 2. I have used a spot stencil.

The next step was to choose stamping. I have chosen some Viva Las Vegas stamps. You can use any stamp of your choosing to add to this layer. For Card 1 & 2 I chose the stamps as part of the feature for the card. Card 3 I chose this stamp purely as a background stamp to add interest to the piece and compliment the lines that I would add to the card later.  

I have added more texture to the cards by adding another layer to each.

Card 1 – Liquitex modelling paste was added using a stencil.

Card 2 – Liquitex matte gel was added through a Kinder Kreations stencil

Card 3 – Liquitex modelling paste was added using a stencil.

After these dried I used my ALLS pencil to add darkness and shading to the cards. I have then added different finishing touches to each card.

Card 1 – I have added more stamping with the word mysterious. I have stitiched around the circle of the stamped image. I have coloured a small price tag and  added it to the top of the card. A face was glued to the centre of the card. I then added more black pencil and smudged it over the white texture paste using a little water. 

 Card 2 – I stitched a black border around the outer edge of the card.   Word stamps from an older set were added to the outer edge of the card. Finally I used some glossy accents to glue down some teeny tiny watch gears. 

 Card 3 – I stitched a black border on the card. I then folded a paper flower and stitched this to the card. I have used the stitching to create the stem to the flower. I stamped a VLV stamp quote to the bottom of the flower and have also added some Finnabair art stones.

I love that I have been reintroduced to these little mini masterpieces. The dimension and individuality that you can harness from creating each one is amazing.
