 Happy FriYAY Scrapping Clearly fans!!

Belinda here with you today to share a layout I created inspired by this month's fabulous moodboard and featuring some lovely products from the Scrapping Clearly store.

'Merry Christmas'

Here's a peek at the moodboard.

I started with Cocoa Vanilla Studio More Than Words Precious patterned paper mounted on heavyweight marshmallow cardstock. I added some Liquitex Clear Gesso over the entire surface and let dry. Once dry, I sprayed on some Heidi Swapp Raspberry Colour Shine and spritzed with a bit of water too. I played around with it on the surface and let it drip down the page before drying with a heat gun.

Next I added some stencilling for interest using a Heidi Swapp stencil and some heavy white gesso.

I used some Heidi Swapp Wolf Pack papers to create a layered stack to sit under my photo. I stapled them together in the middle so that I could slip things in the sides later.

I had some sweet black mini doilies in my stash so added those too.

Finally I added my photo and all other embellies. The white stars and the title are by Heidi Swapp. The quote stamps are by Vicki Boutin and the stamped stars are from a Darkroom Door stamp set. I used Archival Ink for my stamping.

Smile by Belinda Spencer

 Hello!!

It's Belinda here today to share my very first post as a design team member at Scrapping Clearly. I am so excited and thrilled to be joining the team and hope I can inspire you with my style of creating.

Today I am sharing a layout I created for the fabulous September Mood Board Challenge using some awesome products from Scrapping Clearly.

'SMILE'

Here's a peek at the Mood Board:

I like to work with an A4 format for my layouts. I find it easier to store A4 size layouts rather than 12 x 12 ones. It's a personal choice.

I started my layout by adding some colour to the background Marshmallow Heavyweight Smooth Cardstock . I spritzed my layout with a little water. I added some Distress Ink in Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint to a stamping acrylic block, spritzed with water and then applied to my background cardstock. I spritzed the block again and placed on the page to pick up the rest of the ink on the block. I added more ink to the block, spritzed again, picked up the ink with a soft wet paintbrush and flicked over the page.

Next I repeated this process using a second colour. This time Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide.

I added a layer of stamping using the fabulous Art By Marlene Mandala Tapestry Clear Stamps and the Monday, Tuesday... Carabelle Studio Art Stamp with Jet Black Archival Ink.

I went on a treasure hunt through my stash for some patterned papers to match the colours of the mood board and came up with these. There is a sweet mix of Heidi Swapp Favourite Things and Art Walk as well as a dash of Cocoa Vanilla Studio You Rock. The stickers, puffy stickers and butterfly are also by Heidi Swapp.

I cut out the layers to sit behind my photo and stapled together with my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. I coloured the Heidi Swapp butterfly with the same inks as the layout background and let dry completely. I then added black outlines using the Brush 1 Pen from the Jane Davenport Finishing Line Pens Set.

Then it was time to start assembling the layout. I added some messy cotton thread and secured it in place with my paper layers.

I added my photo using 3D foam and tucked in the butterfly.

I used a Posca Pen to colour my chipboard title.

Finally I added the title and all embellishments to the layout. The tiny butterflies were created using an old Kaisercraft Die Cut that I have had in my stash for ages.

Dream, by Amanda Hartmann

Hi all!

Today I am sharing another painty background, this time using the bubble blowing technique that Vicki Boutin recently demo'd on Facebook. I mean, my daughter was in a bubble bath, so literally I HAD to blow bubbles for it....

Here are the mediums I used:

* Dina Wakley Acrylic Paint - Lapis

* Dylusions Spray - London Blue

* Distress Oxide - Cracked Pistachio

* Liquitex Ink - Iridescent Bright Gold

I started with smooth heavy marshmallow cardstock. 

To create the bubble effects, I put Dina Wakley Acrylic Paint - Lapis and Dylusions Spray - London Blue in a cup with some water and a drop of dish washing liquid. I blew bubbles in the cup with a straw, and dragged the cardstock over the cup to pick up the bubbles onto the cardstock.

Once the blue had dried, I wanted another layer of colour. I smooshed some Distress Oxide - Cracked Pistachio ink onto some spare plastic packaging, spritzed it with water and added the colour to the page. I dragged and smooshed the plastic on the page to apply it.

I really love the mix of the bubbles and the watercolour effect of the distress oxides.

I finished with some gold - gold splatters and some gold painted edges using Liquitex Ink - Iridescent Bright Gold .

Here is the final page and some close ups.

Under the photo I used Cocoa Vanilla Studios paper from the Daydream Paper stack as well as a doily.

A few finishing touches include: muslin, gold wire, random brads from the stash, some old gold flowers, a Charms Creations heart. I also used some stickers from the Cocoa Vanilla Studios Daydream sticker pack.

Beds are overrated

Hi everyone

I love moodboards as they start you thinking and can take you in unexpected directions.   This time I was inspired by the bed in the moodboard even though my photo doesn't actually feature a bed.   I did initially think I was going to go with the colour scheme of the board but started pulling out my stash and went in a completely different direction.   Sometimes life's like that!

I started by giving my Fancy Pants patterned paper a coat of clear gesso.

I sponged on some acrylic paint through a Heidi Swapp lattice stencil.

Then smooshed some Distress oxide (Picked Raspberry) onto my messy mat and gave it a spritz with water and then added it to the LO with a paint brush.

Next some Ceramcoat paint mixed with some modelling paste through a Darkroom Door Creative stencil.

I've matted my photo with some Teresa Collins Urban Market paper and then used  some left over bits and pieces from different Cocoa Vanilla ephemera packs (Love Always, Happiness & Hello Sunshine).   Love how they all effortlessly coordinate with each other.   Some Cocoa Vanilla enamel shapes and a Heidi Swapp acetate embellishment to finish off.  

Plenty of time still to have a go at this month's board.

Graduation time

Hi everyone

 Inspired today by this month's moodboard.   So much so that I went for some Cocoa Vanilla patterned paper as my base.   Very unusual for me!

I coated the paper with clear gesso and then some moulding paste through an old TCW stencil.

I sprinkled on some Ken Oliver Colour Burst powders (sepia & lamp black) and gave a little spritz with water.

I've embellished with some Heidi Swapp stars and cut out the waste from some used Cocoa Vanilla Stickers to give me some more embellishments (more stars and the arrow).   I do this quite a bit.   Not only does it stretch your crafting dollars but they look cool.

   

I finished off with Teresa Collins Urban Market pp & alphas and Tim Holtz Idea-olgy small talk stickers.

Plenty of time to give this month's challenge a go.

Playing catch up

I am guilty of scrapping too many pics of one child than the other but I honestly try to find a balance.  I must admit she is a little easier to scrap for than he is but I love them both equally. So this week I decided I best start playing catch up with the boychild's albums. 

I have had a couple of sheets of PinkFresh cardstock -  Escape the ordinary Search  & Wander in my stash for a few months and found this cool pic that fit perfect. I wanted to challenge myself to use the two sheets up on this one layout. 

I cut individual pieces out of the Wander sheet and used these as ephemera on the layout. The remainder of the paper was used as solid layers on the layout, using some of the printed word side and then using the reverse side to layer under the words. On these larger pieces I sewed an edge to  help define the layers as the papers were quite busy.

Sewing a border around the photo helped tie this element in with the sewn borders on the other cardstock. I then adhered it to black cardstock before adding it to the layout. In this picture I was doing a lot of paper shuffling to make sure I was happy with placement of all the different cardstock items I was layering on the layout.

I added a few timber elements to the page including Cocoa Vanilla woodies , Studio Calico wood corners  & Flutterby's star tab.

 Lastly I used two fonts to create the title. I end up with so many leftover letters that won't make a full title and I think there must be a special art to finding ones that meld together and work just so we can use up all those leftovers. I have used American Crafts Thickers  - Amy Tangerine Plus One and Wonder black. I also used a few of the foam stars scattered around the page.

The boy child is looking not so overjoyed in this pic but super cute in that jacket we bought for school camp.  He assured me it kept him warm too whilst camping.

It's all Perspective - with Emma.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Today I decided to create away from the mood board and go a little boyish.

I found this awesome image on Pinterest of this cute little guy who just happens to be a doll.

I love how much character he has.

How cute is he hey?!

So to start off, on this page I went a little different and went with using up some of my Tim Holtz Rubons. These are the Numbers ones.

Then I chose a couple of colours from the Distress Oxide reinkers that matched my papers, starting with Candied apple, I smooshed this over the background. dried it off and then went in with Broken China.

I loved that the ink just sat in and around the rub ons and made them really pop from the base sheet.

Behind my image I cut some tags out of a sheet from the Paper Arts collection, this one is called Psychedelic 1.

Making sure the tags  had pops of red in them to compliment the skateboard the little doll is holding.

In amongst those tags I free cut a sheet of Heidi Swapp die cut paper to add contrast and layers.

The chosen embellishments start with Some items from the Pink Fresh 'Escape the Ordinary' fabric die cuts.

Cocoa Vanilla flair and Some Pink Fresh block wood stickers.

The quotes are Tim Holtz Small talk stickers that always suit the mood.

Finally a flick of white ink and this page was done.

Love the feel of this finished page.

Summery 'Handmade Cards'

Hi All! I hope you are enjoying your summer!

We are currently over on the west coast of Australia, having a beach break. The Western Australian coast is just stunning, with its white sand and dry heat.

I am sharing with you today some summery cards. These cards were very simple to create using the fantastic Tim Holtz Distress Oxide ink pads from the store. 

I have layered cards using white,black, teal and yellow cardstock from my stash.

For these two cards pictured, I blended Distress Oxide in both 'Fossilized Amber' and 'Spiced Marmalade' on heavy cardstock. 

If you have watercolour paper, you could use this too. To add texture - on the hexagon-shaped one - I lightly sponged a Kaisercraft Honeycomb clear stamp with water then stamped over the blended area. After I heat-dried this, I scribbled the border using a Posca pen in black from the store. 

The sentiment here was heat-embossed with white powder from my stash.

For the second card, I repeated the same process, except I stamped the large circle using a 49 and Market stamp set. 

After I assembled these cards - I placed them side by side and splattered both backgrounds using Colour Blast 'Roadbase' Colour Spray. 

I have used enamel dots from the Cocoa Vanilla 'You Rock' collection.

For the cards pictured here, I have used the same technique again, with blending and water-stamping, with the stamps from Kaisercraft and 49 and Market.

However, I have used different colours from the store: This time, I used Distress Oxide in Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Twisted Citron, Fossilized Amber and Peacock Feathers - the latter to bring out the blue in the border. 

For the sentiment - for both of these cards - I have heat-embossed using white powder from my stash and Versamark from the store.  

Once again, I splattered Colour Blast 'Roadbase' over the back grounds of this pair of cards. I also used sequins to add some more 'bling' to complete the cards.
