Anyone for Coffee? Arty Stuff with Lisa Oxley

Howdy Folks, Lisa here with a Scrapping Clearly sleepy Sunday update.

Is it coffee of tea time?

Wouldn't you love to partake of your fave drink in your own handpainted cup?

Well, that was my idea, and after playing with alcohol inks on a gel plate, and knowing that thse alcohol ink adhere magically to ceramics and porceline, I grabbed my closest coffee cup and proceeded to paint.

Starting with a clean surface to work on,

a tiny brush and Alcohol Inks, I painted colour down first, and heat sealed with a heat tool.

then using Staz On Black ink, I carefully stamped an imgae onto the surface.

Heat sealed again, then a little brush detail with textured paste.

So I made this one, and inspired.....

I made another....

and another

and another.....

and.... well, you get the idea...

Now, at this point they are a handwash only item, 

but I have sourced some

Crystal Clear Varnish to seal them, after tapeing off the rim of the cup.

After the Varnish, for me these will stilll be handwash only items

Remember To Play

Hi All! I am popping in with an Art Journal share today. I have used the Dina Wakley Media Journal 8” x 10”. 

From time to time, when I have a play in the art journal: this is the one I have been working on.

I have used one of my favourite techniques – water colours! Personally, I find it therapeutic doing this. Now, as I was going to use a lot of water, I first chose the watercolour paper in the journal and used the Dina Wakley Clear Gesso to prime my page.

Then I stamped the page with a permanent black Stazon Ink Jet, using the gorgeous Dina Wakley Media unmounted rubber stamp – Scribbly Bird Cousins.

This stamp set, with its scribbly lines, is great to use for water-colouring.

To watercolour the page, I used (from the store) the following paints… Dina Wakley Media – Heavy Body Acrylic Paint in Turquoise, Sky, Night, Marine Cheddar, Lime, and Evergreen. All of these paints worked so beautifully with water.

 

I used Colour Blast Shimmer Spray in ‘Bling’ to add a bit of shine to the page.

Finally, for the title, I used this one from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Collection ‘Small Talk’.

'Your heart is your greatest treasure' - Art Journal - by Amy

Hi all!

Thank you for popping in! I have here my first ‘Art Journal’ project to share. It was both therapeutic and a challenge, in a sense, as I was getting out of my comfort zone here.

After creating this it is fair to say that – I am hooked! 😊

So, now, every so often, I will pop in and share my Art Journal projects.

 

I have used a watercolour page from the Dina Wakley Media Journal in 8” x 10”. This journal is fabulous as it consists of canvas, burlap, watercolour and Kraft pages. 

 

I have primed the page with Dina Wakley Media Gesso in clear. Once dried, I masked some hand drawn circles, as I wanted keep these areas white. 

I then set to using Prima Marketing Watercolour Pencils, using ‘The Basics’ range, mixed with water. I kept working the colours until I was happy with the setting.

After the paint had dried, I darkened the circles using a Marker Uni – Posca pen in black. 

To add details to the page I carefully tore strips – with the help of water – to remove some images from the Jane Davenport Napkin Collage paper. I applied it using a gel medium from my stash. To protect the images, it is important to apply the gel medium over the top as well – and smooth out any air bubbles. 

Once dried I stamped various images from Prima - Finnabair - Vintage Vanity Collection and 49 & Market Gabi’s Textures stamp sets, using Staz-on ink in Jet Black.  

I splattered Colour Blast Colour Spray in 'Roadbase' randomly around the page. To highlight some of the areas, I used Posca pens in black and white. Finally, the title was used from Tim Holtz Idealogy Collection – ‘Small Talk’.

It was a terrific learning experience, creating this journal page. I think that it is fantastic to try and experiment and learn new things – otherwise you never know what you are capable of!
