 Hi everyone,

Another month and another colourful moodsketch.

My background started with  a Vicki Boutin Bubbles stencil I had used with Barn Door Distress ink on another layout.   As I always do, instead of just cleaning off my stencil on a wet wipe or paper towel, I gave it a spritz with water and used it as a stamp.  

I then added some Light & Fluffy modelling paste through a brick stencil and a little Tattered Angels Chalkboard  Glimmer Mist (Inchworm). 

I gave my chipboard a coat of gesso and then added some Distress Spray stain (Picked Raspberry) and some Colour Blast spray (Caribbean) and gave it all a coat of Glossy Accents.

Using the Kaisercraft Pop stamp, stamped usng archival ink (Mermaid lagoon, Vivid Chartreuse and Vibrant Fushia) fussy cut some balloons

Finished off with some enamel dots and Enamel Accents (Blue Ribbon).

Never lose hope created by Tracey Thorne

 Hello creative friends and welcome to the month of April and the new moodsketch. I wanted to use up some of my dylusions paints and these three worked perfectly within the moodboard parameters - Cherry Pie, London Blue & Fresh Lime.  I opened up the jars to find I was going to be creating with some very old dried out paint. Not one to be defeated this stuff was going to be put to good use. I added a little Atelier slow medium to it to help get it wet and pliable for use. It went on the page chunky & with a pallette knife I have smeared it down the page. The consistency was like a water colour crayon. It dried well using the heat tool.

 

 

I worked out photo placement and added a stitched frame to the page. The AALL & Create butterfly stencil and some Liquitex Super Heavy Gel was then applied. I have then chosen some pink minc foil and a gold foil sheet and applied this over the stencil before running it through the minc.

 

I created a photo stack of Vicki Boutin papers from the ColourStudy range to mount the photo on. I further embellished this area of the page with some large white punchinella , epoxy button, butterflies and black cotton. I have added some typed words and journalling to the page also. 

 

 

 

I finished the layout off with a title using some very old Making Memories chippie alphas.

'Somewhere over the Rainbow' TN Thursday - by Emma Zappone

 Hi there everyone.
Who would have thought I would enjoy creating the Travellers Notebook pages so much! 
Now I love the quick little art moments.
This one didn't quite go to plan, but I'm still loving the final feel.

I started with a Scrap FX tissue paper for my background. Applied it down to my pages with a gel Medium. Then I began to scrap some colour over sections of the pages with a mix of Dylusions and Art By Marlene paints. I did this very simply with a palette knife.

I added a little stencil work using an ABM So-fish-ticated stencil with light modeling paste.

This weeks TN prompt is handwriting and it made me nervous. I was not sure how to add this element, so I decided to add some script along my scribbly border. It's messy but it added to the grungy vibe of the pages.

 Hi everyone,

I'm sorry I've been MIA for a couple of weeks but I've been without Internet (Thanks Telstra).   

I thought I didn't spend a lot of time online until it wasn't an option - then I really missed it!

This next layout is about how to rescue a page when something doesn't go exactly to plan.

I started with a page of Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss patterned paper, a TCW stencil, some impasto and some very cheap washi tape.

As you can tell my stencil was just a little dirty.   I did know this but thought it was permanent - not so - I finished up with a yellow tinge in my impasto.   OK I thought, I can live with that.

Then my washi tape tore the paper when I was lifting it.

 

OK - can't live with that but rather than throw it away, I used more washi to solved the problem and created a frame.   Plenty of lovely washi in the shop.

I didn't take progress photos but I sprinkled on some Lindy's Magical Shaker (Afternoon Denim Delight) and gave it a spritz with water.

I then scraped through some Light and Fluffy through a rose stencil.   Because the Magicals was still a little wet, the Light and Fluffy was tinged blue - I'm OK with that.

I used a Kaisercraft Floral Circle Frame and die cut some scrap papers and used a Posca pen to colour a Heidi Swapp wood veneer word for my title.

I layered by photo with some Heidi Swapp Pineapple Crush patterned paper (Sun Chaser) and a Heidi Swapp jumbo tag.

Entomology Tag by Emma Zappone

Hello everyone.
Today I share a video and a tag created using a mix of products you can find in Kylie's shop.
It focus's on Stamperia product, resin and texture.

This tag is approx 5"x7" and created on packing board. Nice & Sturdy.
It is then primed with some white gesso to get it ready for all the paint to come.
I then chose a couple of earthy colours for my background from Art By Marlene in Tuscan & Tobacco.
And then a little watercolour concentrate from Prima.

You can see how I added the colours in the video. Then I added some texture with some modeling paste. I grabbed a sheet of the Stamperia collectables paper and tore what I needed and then blended it into the tag background with more paint and some rubons. 

Once the background was complete, I chose what I needed to decorate the front. I knew I wanted to use butterflies especially since I had this beautiful resin butterfly from Kylie. So I made this my centre focus. I painted it in a couple of Stamperia colour gels, Gold Dew & Star Blue.

I fussy cut some of the butterflies from the same collectables paper pad and then to make it look like one of those butterfly display boxes you see at the museum, stamped with Tim Holtz Field Notes to add the Fig.1 ect next to each butterfly.

I flicked with remaining ink and a few matching Prima watercolour concentrates.

 Welcome to another creative weekend. I loved pulling out all of my older ephemera last weekend and had a stash buster blue day - so this weekend I am sharing my stash buster pink day. 

I have a few pre- painted pages with smears of paint on them so I have chosen one of those to create with for this layout. The paint was added quite thickly and was left to dry naturally which left some fantastic texture. I have added a Donna Downey Number stencil to this by using some Liquitex Modelling paste.

After quite a bit of paper shuffling I was unhappy with it so the page received a good coat of Liquitex Gesso - it is my 'go to' when things are not working. After applying the gesso roughly to the page I have then used a Distress Crayon in pink and rubbed it over the raised numbers. I used a black pen to draw a square in the middle of the page and smudged that with my fingers. I have also added some plasterers mesh to the page at the bottom left. 

 

A Kaisercraft stamp was used to add various stamping on the page at this time. I have used Ranger Archival Ink to do this.

Now it is time for ephemera. Whenever I think of using pink in my scrapbooking I instantly go to my Heidi Swapp stash as I usually find everything that will accommodate my whims there. On this page I have use a range of stickers and labels - HS Journallers stickers 306, HS Scrapbookers stickers 305, We R Memorykeepers - Typecast Labels. The photos were mounted on some older printed papers - MM garden party and Jenni Bowlin vintage black bookprint. Heidi Swapp photo corner in pink were also added to the photo.

 

I have used the Stamperia mould to create a couple of pieces for this page. The fleur di lis was created by using part of the book plate and the key. Both have had the distress crayon rubbed over them to add the candy pink colour to them.

 

The title was created using American Crafts stickers - Piper. I have then drawn roughly around them with black pen to help acentuate.
