Family Fun Today with Amy Prior

Hi there Scrapping Clearly fans! Amy Prior back with you all again today, this time sharing a quick scrapbook page that I have created using the gorgeous Simple Stories Life in Color Collection along with some other favourite products available from the Scrapping Clearly store!

To create the background for this layout, I have added some Colour Blast - Colour Paste - Sunshine through a stencil over a piece of Simple Stories - Life in Color Collection - Various Patterned Papers. Just add the paste randomly and avoid the middle section where the photo layers will go so you don't waste product necessarily.

When the paste has dried completely, sprinkle some Colour Blast - Shimmer Spray - Fire Engine randomly around the edges before sticking on some ripped pieces of Simple Stories - Life in Color Collection - Various Patterned Papers, and finish off with some Teresa Collins - Something Wonderful Collection - Washi Tape.

Spray some Colour Blast - Colour Spray - Love over a Heidi Swapp - Color Magic - Banners and set aside to dry. Wipe off any excess with a baby wipe when it is dry to show the resist better.

Layer some Simple Stories - Life in Color Collection - Various Patterned Papers in various sized rectangles around the phtograph. I have distressed around my papers to tie in with the ripped paper on the background.

Add the dried Heidi Swapp - Color Magic - Banners to the layers of paper and then add the title using American Crafts - Amy Tangerine - Better Together - You & Me Black Thickers and some letters from Simple Stories - Life in Color Collection - Expressions Cardstock Stickers. I have outlined the American Crafts - Amy Tangerine - Better Together - You & Me Black Thickers with white to help it pop as my photograph is quite dark in a lot of areas.

Best time together with Amy Prior

Hi there Scrapping Clearly fans! Amy Prior back with you all again today, this time sharing my take on the fantastic Mood Board challenge we have over on the Scrapping Clearly Community Facebook page. Here is the mood board...

...and here is the layout that I have created using this mood board as inspiration. I have a quick step-by-step tutorial showing how I created the background for this layout below.

Step 1: Scrape some Liquitex - Glass beads effects medium through a stencil using a palette knife over the top of some American Crafts 12x12 Double Thick White Cardstock and dry completely either naturally or using a heat tool.

Step 2: Mix some Colour Blast - Shimmer Dust - Duke & Candy with water and use it to paint some Heidi Swapp - September Skies - Color Magic - Die cuts words.

Step 3: When the Liquitex - Glass beads effects medium has completely dried, spray a deep puddle of water over the areas where you would like there to be colour on your background.

Step 4: Using the tip of a long thin palette knife, sprinkle tiny amounts of Colour Blast - Shimmer Dust - Duke all over the puddle of water that you have created on the background.

Step 5: If the powder is not dispersing enough, spray a little bit more water just over the top of dry areas. Let it dry completely either naturally or by using a heat tool but try to avoid moving the water around with the heat tool as you want the colours to be blotchy looking for a multi tone effect.

Step 6: When the Colour Blast - Shimmer Dust - Duke is completely dry, use your finger and gently rub some Viva Decor - Inka Gold - Silver over the texture on the background.

Step 7: Cut various rectangles and squares out of American Crafts - Shimelle - Starshine patterned papers - various  to layer underneath the photograph.

Step 8: Finish off the layout with various items from American Crafts - Shimmelle Starshine - stickers, the painted Heidi Swapp - September Skies - Color Magic - Die cuts, and My Mind's Eye - On Trend 2 - Acrylic words. Adhere the clear stickers to white cardstock then fussy cut if you would like them to stand out better like I have here with the hot air balloon.

Sweet & On Trend with Amy Prior

Hi there Scrapping Clearly fans! Amy Prior back with you all again today, this time sharing my take on the January Sketch Challenge. You can view the details over on the Scrappingclearly facebook group which is where all entries must be loaded as well.

Here is the sketch designed by the fabulous Peg Hewitt!

And here is my take on the sketch using lots of goodies available from the Scrapping Clearly store.

Here is a quick step-by-step on how to create this background effect...
Step 1: Place a stencil over some American Crafts 12x12 Double Thick White Cardstock.

Step 2: Scrape a few blobs of both Colour Blast - Colour Paste - Snow White and Colour Blast - Colour Paste - Bling randomly over the stencil.

Step 3: Carefully and quickly, smear the colour paste around then remove the stencil  and clean. Do not act slowly or pedantically because you will simply mix the colours together. Acting quickly and roughly creates a more authentic looking marbled effect.

Step 4: Cut random pieces of  My Minds Eye - On Trend 2 Collection - Patterned Paper to mount underneath the photographs. Avoid cutting any pieces that are larger than the photographs combined to keep the layers neat. I have also included some My Minds Eye - On Trend 2 Collection - Journal Cards in the layers and I have used some fringe scissors on a piece for the bottom of the page.

Quick and easy Christmas Cards with Amy Prior

Hi there Scrapping Clearly Fans! Amy Prior back with you all again today, this time sharing some super quick and easy Christmas cards that I threw together with the help of the My Minds Eye Sugar Plum Collection which is available in the Scrapping Clearly store here

Being a crafter, I really hate the idea of spending money purchasing cards for people but rarely do I get the chance to make cards and have them stored so they are ALWAYS a last minute rushed creation.

Once of my favourite tricks for making quick and easy cards is simply to use collections. When using a collection of products, the papers and embellishments are already designed ready to go perfectly with each other and then not much thinking is involved which is crucial if you are doing a last minute rush.

I just love handmade Christmas cards and here are a few quick cards that I quickly threw together using the products from the My Minds Eye Sugar Plum collection. A little bit of patterned paper here and there amongst the gorgeous matching embellishments has created 4 pretty awesome cards that barely took more than 10 minutes to make each.

No matter how creative you want to be, the collections are always a perfect starting off point to kickstart your creativity. These cards could have been given a totally different look as well if a little mixed media was added during the creation process. The only limitation is your imagination so go to town, have fun with things that are already designed to co-ordinate with each other for you and add extras if necessary.

Tis the Season with Amy Prior

Hi there Scrapping Clearly fans! Amy Prior back with you all again today, this time sharing a fun Christmas page created using the gorgeous new Tis the Season collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio

To create this simple layout, I have started off by smearing some Colour Blast - Colour Paste - Snow White over the top of a sheet of American Crafts - 12x12 Cardstock - Double Thick using my palette knife very roughly underneath where I knew my layers would go.

Once the Colour Paste was dry, I have then started to layer various pieces of Cocoa Vanilla Studio - Tis the Season Collection - Patterned Papers underneath my photograph ready to mount over the top of the Colour Paste so that I can start embellishing.

Smile Sister with Amy Prior

Hi everyone! Amy Prior back with you all again today, this time sharing a layout featuring a photo of my mum and 2 of her sisters that was taken at my wedding many years ago.

To create the background for this layout, I have started off with a piece of American Crafts 12x12 Double Thick White Cardstock that I have added stencilling to using some Dina Wakely - White Gesso. Once the Gesso was dry, I have added some Leafing Adhesive over the top of the gesso before rubbing some Gold Leaf randomly over the top. I like to use Gold leaf instead of gold sheets as it gives a much more random and varied look as you can see here.

Once the gold leaf was all done, I have then splattered some small bits of Colour Blast - Colour Spray - Bubblegum, and Colour Blast - Colour Spray - Rainforest around the background to bring a little more colour to the page ready for my colourful layers.  I have then cut lots of random rectangles out of My Minds Eye - On Trend 2 Collection - Patterned papers and American Crafts - Gold Glitter 12x12 Cardstock to layer around my photograph. I have added a doily from my stash into the layers also.

The final step for this layout was to embellish and for this page I have added some  My Minds Eye - On Trend 2 Collection - 12x12 Chipboard StickersMy Minds Eye - On Trend 2 Collection - Acrylic WordsMy Minds Eye - On Trend 2 Collection - Cardstock StickersMy Minds Eye - On Trend 2 Collection - Cardstock Stickers - Alphabet & Words, plus some handmade flowers from my stash. To add a little gold to the flowers, I have simply rubbed a little Inka Gold - Gold over the tips of the flower petals and the layout was complete.

Love you Sketch Challenge layout with Amy Prior

Hi everyone! Amy Prior back with you all today, this time sharing my take on the November Sketch Challenge here at Scrapping Clearly. You can view all of the details of the current challenges by clicking here. Here is the sketch for November 2016...

...and here is my take on the sketch challenge for this month using lots of gorgeous products available from the Scrapping Clearly store. As you can see I ventured a little from the sketch but not by much :) I have simply moved a couple of things, etc. which is the best bit about sketches as they can be rotated etc. if required.

I also have a quick step-by-step tutorial for this layout below along with some closeup images also.

Step 1 - Using a palette knife, create an oval shape onto the background patterned paper with some Liquitex Glass Bead Effects Medium

Step 2 - Paint over the top of the dried Liquitex Glass Bead Effects Medium using some Liquitex Gesso.

Step 3 - When the Liquitex Gesso is completely dry, spray over the top using some Colour Blast - Shimmer Spray - Envy and allow to dry naturally or heat dry using a heat tool.

Step 4 - Open the bottle of Shimmer Spray and, using the lid, splatter a couple of extra spots of the Envy colour around the page.

Step 5 - When the Colour Blast spray is dry, rub some Inka Gold - Gold over the top of the texture lightly to help it pop!

Step 6 - Cut random sized rectangles out of  Maggie Holmes - Bloom Collection - Patterned papers making sure not to cut any pieces bigger than the photograph that you are using for this page.

Step 7 - Layer the pieces of cut patterned papers along with some Maggie Holmes - Bloom Collection - Ephemera pieces around the photograph just leaving a little piece showing for each layer to ensure the frame around the photo does not get too large.

Step 8 - Embellish the layout using various items from Maggie Holmes - Bloom Collection - ChipboardMaggie Holmes - Bloom Collection - DelightsMaggie Holmes - Bloom Collection - EphemeraMaggie Holmes - Bloom Collection - Rubber Shapes. I have also added a few flowers from my stash to finish the layout off.
