A long way to go

 Hi everyone

Back with another layout inspired by this month's mood board.   I know I've said this before, but I can't get enough of this colour palette!

I started by swiping on some gesso with a credit card and then some TCW Light and Fluffy paste through a TCW stencil.   I then added some Nuvo Crackle Mousse in Celestial Blue through a hexegon stencil, some stamping using a Colour Blast stamp designed by Michelle Grant and a Darkroom Door stamp.   I scribbled some Neo Color II crayons (Orange, Grey & Ultramarine) onto my messy mat, spritzed them with water and added them with a paint brush.   I covered a couple of 2 Crafty chipboard pieces (Steampunk strips) with Black Soot Distressing powder. A few splatters of Distress Spray Stain in Stormy Sky, a word sticker from Tim Holtz Small Talk pad and some Cocoa Vanilla Life is Beautiful alphas and I was finished.

 Found this photo of the kids when they were younger and we hosted a Japanese exchange student - Akari. Everything was so new to her and she was always smiling - the language barrier did not even matter - they were kids having fun. I threw a heap of fun accessories on my art desk & played with the colour palette for this month again. I hope you enjoy what I have put together.

I have used a sheet of Vicki Boutin cardstock from the Kaleidoscope Collection and to that I have done some stamping using Carabelle stamps & Tim Holtz distress oxide spray in faded jeans.

Once dry I popped my cardstock in my typewriter and added my journalling. I then found placement for my photo & drew a pencil line around it to add some black stitching. I have also added more stamping using the circle off the Stampers Anonymous Grunge stamp pack.

 

I adhered the photo to the page and then started to add embellishments from Cocoa Vanilla, American Crafts Thickers & Vicki Boutin & Dina Wakley. I cut my title with the silhouette and coloured it with yellow then had a change of mind and coloured in the title with a black Artline marker.

 

After I had stuck a majority of my title and embellishments down - the procrastination set in and I wanted to add some yellow circles - *note* it is in your best interest to make the decision to do the layering prior to sticking everything down... it was a long process to fix this.

A few final touches were the clip at the top of the page & a black sewn border 

The final product is a fab photo showcased to capture the fun time the kids had and more joy and colour for the Scrapbook.

 Hi Scrapping Clearly Lovelies!

It's Karyn here and today I have an art journal page that I created using lots of fun products available at Scrapping Clearly!

 

 

I'm playing along with the August moodboard challenge. We would love for you to join in with this challenge and be in the running to win a Scrapping Clearly store voucher. You have until August 31 and you need to upload your challenge here.

 

 

This page is created in my Black Square Dylusions Journal. I used a palate knife to swipe Platinum modelling paste, Art Anthology Reef Velvet dimensional paint, and Art Anthology Vegas Gold Sorbet dimensional paint across the page. 

  

 

Then I added splatters of Heidi Swapp ColorShine in Tinsel, Gold and Navy.

 

 

 I stamped the Dina Wakley Good Idea stamp set on white cardstock then painted using Prima Watercolor Confections Classics and Decadent Pies. These flowers were fussy cut to use on my page.

 

 

 Here are some close ups of my page. I found an image on Pinterest that was inspired by the colours of the moodboard.

 

 

I added some Tim Holtz Idea-ol-ogy Small Talk Word Stickers, white gauze and a Heidi Swapp Acetate word.

Here's a sneak.... I will show you some of my steps before I share the whole page!

I started by stamping with the Tim Holtz Faded Type Stamp, and embossing using the Fired Brick Embossing Glaze. I stamped a few times on my sheet of old book paper.

To prepare the awesome Scrap FX chipboard piece, I coloured it in with Posca pens and then heat embossed it with a clear embossing powder. I used Posca Pens in Red wine and Red.

For colour splatters, I used my Prima watercolours - as it had the perfect red in the palette.

I also used machine stitching - for around the book paper and around the tissue paper squares that I layered under the photo.

From my stash, I used wood veneer from Flutterby designs, and a book paper X from Charms Creations. I love supporting Aussie businesses.

And don't forget those (now vintage) skeleton leaves....

After losing my mojo the past month, I was so excited to get this page done! And I love it, maybe I'm back!

 Hi everyone,

Back with another take on this month's moodboard.    Can't get enough of this colour palette!

I started by gluing down some old cardboard domino pieces I've had in my stash for ever for some texture.   I then covered them lightly with a couple of coats of gesso.   Then some modelling paste through TCW Newport Tiles stencil.

Some squirts of Distress spray stain in Stormy sky and Neo Color II crayon in ochre which I rubbed in with my finger.   I used Amy Tangerine Alpha (Everyday) for my title and some bits and pieces from my stash to finish off.

who doesnt love Architecture? for the pure scale and magesty, for shelter and comfort.

my other half is a draftsman and plans flow through our house, so these stamps, I just had to secure.

Buckle Up Buttercup

Welcome to another fantastic weekend of creativity. I hope you are enjoying creating with the August moodboard. A couple of weekends ago I created a layout using a car like the one in moodboard and have found another photo similar to create with. I take a lot of similar photos at different angles when the kids were little - they each have a different story. In this one my little boy was so proud that he got to drive the car at Dreamworld. If we could only keep them this young and cute.

For this layout I chose some 12x12 Vicki Boutin paper from the Let'sWander range - Beach Vibe & Chasing Stars. I used the Chasing stars paper as the base and used a strip of the Beach Vibe as a layer.

I have added a little of the Ranger Distress Ink - speckled egg to the background. I did this by adding it to plastic & spraying a little water before tipping it and dabbing it on the cardstock in a few places.

After the ink had dried I then stamped in a few places the Stampers Anonymous stamp - Grunged  . I used Liquitex Modelling paste with a Dina Wakley stencil - Wheels. Once all of this was dry I marked out with a pencil where my photo and layering cardstock would go and then took them away and used my sewing machine to add some black borders.

As I added all the layers I found some grey loose cardstock on my desk to add under the photo also. I built up the photo using foam tape. I have then stamped a few small dots using Ranger Ink and a Viva Las Vegas stamp. The title was created in the Silhouette and coloured using an Artline black marker and raised on the layout using foam tape. I have used some yellow stickers and stars from the Heidi Swapp Stationary set and used a good amount of the Studio Calico timber embellishments that came in the pack. To add to the boy theme I added some chipboard cogs coloured with Staz On - midnight. I finished off the layout by adding a flair & some older rub-ons I had in my stash and Vicki Boutin heart stickers - because they are super cute.
