"Expect".. planning folder, by Amanda Hartmann

Hi friends!

I am taking a monthly craft class this year and I wanted to create a folder to keep my supplies and planning all organised.

I started with this Kmart folder, and I gave it some painty/crafty love!

The supplies I used include:

* Dina Wakley Paint - Bright fun acrylic paints - perfect for a project like this!

* New Art by Marlene: Anemones, So-Fish-Ticated Stencil

* Jane Davenport washi sheet girls (out of stock)

* Liquitex Inks (white and pink splatters)

* Tim Holtz Cling Stamps – Tiny Text

I used a credit card to swipe and add colour to the folder. I added stenciling, stamping and the fussy cut girl images. I finished with lots of white and black pen doodling and some splatters.

Living the dream by Tracey B

 Hi everyone, back again for happy crafting Tuesday

This layout was totally inspired by these gorgeous rub-ons by 49 & Market 

I added some Neo Color II for the background (Salmon, Rose & Sepia) by scribbling onto my messy mat, spritzing with water and using the packaging technique.

I added some luscious Nuvo Embellishment Mousse (Cafe Latte) through a stencil. 

With the background drying, I thought about my photo.   It was every so slightly smaller than the frame so I looked for some paper to mat it onto and came across some paper Kyle has used to pretty up a delivery.   The colour was perfect so not only matted my photo but  die cut some flowers as well.

I used a heap (for me) of Cocoa Vanilla Unforgettable ephemera, colouring with my Neos anything that was too white.

I added some Glossy Accents to my title to give it a bit of shine.

I added some Amy Tangerine enamel shapes, ribbon and muslin and a little Posca pen on some embellishments.

YOU colour my world created by Tracey Thorne

 And a big HELLO to you all this fabulous Saturday.

I am going off the beaten track and letting the Moodboard have a rest today and  instead I've decided to add a little colour to my world. I have a lot of Dylusions Inks and they are not emptying their bottles anytime soon so it is time to put them to good use so I can make room for some new colours & products.

I have started with a base of - you guessed it - white cardstock and to that I have predominantly painted  in stripes down the page using Dylusions Inks - leaving gaps and filling in with other colours- these were my go to colours on the layout -  Peony Blush, Squeezed Orange, Fresh Lime, Vibrant Turquoise, Lemon Zest and London Blue. 

 I have then used a TCW stencil -  this is the first time for me using this one in 12x12 as I usually use the smaller 6x6 but I must say I love it - It has done all the work for me on this layout. I mixed black paint with some Liquitex Matte Super Heavy Gel and using a spatula pushed it through the stencil. I have then used a Fudeball black pen to draw a black border around the whole layout.

 

I have chosen some tissue papers to help layer the photo - Dina Wakley Backgrounds & Hearts and a some pink and green from my own stash. I have also used a stamped tissue using a Carabelle Studio stamp. The photo was mounted on a little card so that it was slightly raised off the page to help with dimension. I have chosen a couple of the quotes from the tissue paper to add to the top and bottom of the layout. Adhering them with Matte Gel Medium helps them blend in well with the page and helps disguise the edges as they disappear into the background.

I chose American Crafts Thickers - Dear Lizzy in white to create the majority of the title. The YOU part of the title was created with chipboard and painted white. I made some hearts using Air Dry Clay and painted one with the Peony Blush Ink.You can also purchase Resin hearts from the shop - here. The white hearts were sealed with Liquitex Matte Gel Medium before being adhered to the page. A little black cotton under the photo was added to help anchor it all to the page.

'Promise Me' - with Emma Zappone

Hey there Crafters!
Em here sharing a layout with you featuring the mood/sketch colours of the month and some beautiful resins. This project is 8"x11"in size. Oh how I love this colour palette.

One of the main features on this layout, is the 2 stunning resin pieces that create the shape of the project.
I really wanted texture and a sense of raw when I was creating this.
So I minimized the finishes on the embellishments. 

Let's starts with the resin, these were primed with some white gesso and then once they were dry I applied 3 complimenting waxes. The colours I chose were, stained wood, Ochre and Bronze age. And I only applied the wax to the surface that my fingers would touch so that they had the contrast against the white underneath. 

The background work started with a Finnabair stencil with some crackle paste through it. Which I then added a Distress Glaze in Vintage photo before I heat set it. This added a slight shine and another neutral tone to the page.
Then I went in with a little stamping using the beautiful Stazon ink in Spiced Chai.

The colour on the background was created with Vintage photo Distress Oxide, I love how you can get the various shades just from the one colour ink. I incorporated some metals in my layers and finished the page off with some Micro beads and whimsies.

 hi everyone and happy crafting Tuesday

I was inspired by this month's sketch in the Moodsketch but rotated it.

That's one of the things I love about sketches: they're so flexible.

I started with some Color Burst powder (Burnt Umber & Sepia) sprinkled on and spritzed with water.   Love the unpredictability of these products and this technique.   And it's so simple!

I then gave my 2 Crafty chipboard frame (here's something similar) and title a coat of Dina Wakley paint (Penny) and when dry a coat of Distress Crackle Paint (Old Paper).   I left this to dry naturally as apparently this gives better cracks and then scribbled on some Distress crayons (Crooked Broomstick & Bubbling Cauldron) and gave that a rub with my finger.   If I look really closely I can see the cracks!

I covered some chipboard chips that I have had in my stash for ever with some scrap paper including WRMK Crush, cut off the excess with my craft knife, some Distress Ink (Black Soot) on the edges and then roughed the edges with my Ingvild Bolme distressing tool (sandpaper would work too).

I stuck down the chips but wasn't happy and thought it needed more so I added some Light and Fluffy modelling paste through a brick stencil.   (Note to self - would have been much easier to do the stenciling first) 

I scribbled on some Stabilos (green, rust & red) and activated the with my water pen.

A few embellishments from my stash and was done.

 Welcome to another weekend blog post and a little more sharing of the current February Moodboard. Browns are not an easy palette to create with when they stand alone so I hope this 12 x 12 Layout will help inspire you to give the palette a go... you just never know how your next memory & masterpiece will be best displayed.

I had a bit of a day yesterday creating some embellishments using a Stamperia MaxiMould. They are lots of fun to use but can also be costly if you only want them for one or two projects. If you love the idea of using pieces like this on your page but don't want the cost of a mould Kylie has pre-made resin pieces using various moulds that can be purchased from the shop - you can check them out over here -

My 12x12 layout was started with a base of white cardstock and to that I have added inks using the kiss method - Tsukineko Walnut Ink, Adirondack ColourWash Espresso and Seth Apter Izink Coffee ink. 

After trimming down my photo and drawing a black border just on the inside of the edge I have then created a paper stack to enhance my photo. I've used a Carrabelle stamp - Blooms and Circles pattern & Ranger Archival black ink to stamp on some tissue paper and add to the layers. I have decided on the Studio Calico range - Classic Calico and Pink Paislee - 07 and Citrus Bliss Sour. After working the layers and creating some punched cirlces with the Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss sour I adhered them with foam tape and double sided adhesive. I have used the Tim Holtz stamp - Fragments to add more brown to the layout and stamping with some Ranger Archival Coffee Ink. 

 

I decided on the Stamperia Mould elements that did not quite work for me and the Finnabair Decor Moulds. The frames by Finnabair I have left white and sealed them with a little Liquitex Matte Gel. At the end after placement I used a little of the Prima Art Alchemy Metallique Wax in Rich Copper to lightly rub over. Other elements I have painted using Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint in Soft Satin and then a light rub over with the Rich Copper the same as the white elements.

 

I have added a little stencilling also - I have used Liquitex Light Modelling Paste in various places through a Finnabair stencil - Swirly Florals . I have also added a little black Adirondak ink to the page through a Finnabair stencil - Gothic - one of my favourite font stencils. 

 

After a lot of paper shuffling and Mould shuffling I set them in place with some glue. I have added a little fabric muslin and some black cotton under some of the layers and the photo. I have inked the edge of the cardstock with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Tea Dye. I have then come back to the outer edge and chosen a different stamp from the Tim Holtz Fragments range to create a border. A few brads from my stash of Kaisercraft embellishments help finish off the layout before adding the title using American Thickers.

 

The finished layout ended like this and I must say I am loving the final look...the resin moulds are amazing and take to the colours so well.... I am in love with my Finnabair stencils too ...
