All about the MOODBOARD

Honestly how can you not love creating with the current moodboard... so fresh and full of summer - in its own way -- I am loving it and it is inspiring my mojo ten fold. 

I decided to have a play with some gelatos with this layout - the colours just worked perfectly. I started with some Adirondack spray ink  in denim on my board and then laid white cardstock on it to pick up the blue in a line - this was the base for the layout -  while that was drying I stamped out some flowers from the Tim Holtz range -  truth be told I wanted to use my Jane Davenport stamps but could not find them in the mayhem and mess that is my creative haven. .... so I stamped with black Ranger ink and then scribbled colour using the gelatos onto the cardstock. Then I used water -- glorious water -  to help disperse the colours. Once they were dry I sprayed some Dylusions Peony blush onto my board and dropped them into that to pick up a little of that colour. Once dry silver was added to the centers using an Artline  silver pen.

How good is that photo -- try using the same pic in your layouts but only one is in colour and the rest in black and white - it pops and looks awesome

 I added some Dina Wakley washi and Heidi Swapp washi copious amounts of cotton to help lift the layout and give it a little depth. A black line was also sewn through the middle of the layout and a black border was also added at this stage.

OOOOH metals - gosh I love metal embellishments -- here I have added some metal flowers, metal number and a buckle -- cute story is that I added the enamel number 15 and asked Emily how old she was here in the pic- we worked it out -- she was 15 - lucky guess on my behalf 😉

 Some added touches were the dots in three colours from the Art Alchemy range - Metallique mermaid teal, light patina & royal blue. Finally I added some Tim Holtz idealogy clippings stickers  - they are freaking amazing -- I love the different colours/tones in them - they can be added to so many projects - a definite must have in your stash

Moodboard Art Journalling - With Karyn Schultz!

Hi Scrapping Clearly Lovelies!!

It's Karyn here, and today I have an art journal page to share with you made using lots of goodies available in the Scrapping Clearly Store.

I'm also playing along with the January Moodboard Challenge. We would love for you to join the challenge and be in the running to win a Scrapping Clearly voucher. You have until January 31 and you enter by uploading your photo to the album in the facebook group here.

 

For my creation I've used the the small A5 Art-By-Marlene journal. I've first added colour using Art By Marlene Bold and Bright watercolor pan paints. The page already had a stamp on it that was blurred so I painted over it and aimed to cover it with another element.   

Next I added a torn strip of Art by Marlene collage paper. I love these papers - you could even use them to completely cover your page! I added this strip to frame the edge of the page and also to cover up the base of the tab (from the Art By Marlene die cut booklet). Next I added a paper doilie and "flower lady" element from the Art By Marlene die cut booklet. I also took 4 leaves from the same die cut booklet and added them to look like wings. These die-cuts are amazing - so quick and easy to use!

Lastly I added some stickers from the Art-by-Marlene sticker book.

Collage style Canvas

Morning Peeps,

This is a canvas I was lucky enough to teach to some beautiful ladies recently.

I thought I would put the step by step here for you to see the process.

Many of you would of done a similiar style at Art is Life. This is just taking it up a notch.

To start with I took a foam stamp and some black archival ink and added some script to the canvas.

I then added some 3D gel transparent with a palette knife and added some peaks by lifting the knife up and down over the paste.

STEP 1

After your gel has dried glue done all your elements. I also filled in any gaps with glass beads or art stones.

Below is a list of some of the goodies that can used in this process.

STEP 2

When your glue is dry cover your collage pieces with white or black gesso. You can see I left some of the script background uncovered to show through. I also left the butterfly alone as I was basing my colour choices around its tone.

STEP 3 

Once your gesso is dry (I know lot's of drying time)

start your painting process. I usually pick about 3 of the same tone of colour light,medium and dark. The dark goes closest to the focal to add shadow and blend out to the edges with the medium to light.

If I start with a cool colour tone I then go in and highlight with some warm tones.

STEP 5

Then let the colour begin. I keep adding and highligthing until I am happy with the look.

If at any time you feel it has got away from you and it just doesn't work. Let it dry add gesso over the mistake, let dry and colour again.

Once everything is dry if you feel it needs a little detail add some metalique wax lightly over some of your details. I love the white gold and antique silver for this.

HAPPY MAIL

Woohooo a new moodboard - and aren't these colours devine - the perfect way to start off 2020. The prompts are amazing with so much inspiration -- and the colours work so well together.

So I received an amazing gift this week of a new planner from Kylie. I have decided I would break it in with this months moodboard. It is a fantastic planner from Arts Inc and is made of leather with a suede inner. It holds four inner books - kraft, quad, dot and plain. It has a plastic zip pocket to hold little stickers for you to create with if you are on the go and a card wallet in the back to store business cards etc.( this is the perfect size for storage of my photos). I am loving the size of this - not too small and definitely not too large - it fits perfectly in my hand and in my handbag. I decided to create in the plain one and will dedicate this 'booklet' to a photo a week that I take with my phone. 

  I used gesso to prep the pages - they are a cream colour and I wanted a white background to start with as it would show through in places where I did not add colour. 

I have then chosen a few colours that work with the moodboard - Dina Wakley blushing, Dina Wakley Turquoise & Blue paint. I used two stencils to add pattern to the gessoed pages and then when it was dry I painted more gesso over the top and used the larger stencil to rub away the paint. I then added a Viva Las Vegas stamp to the top right of the page. 

 I have then added some Dina Wakley washi tapes and added more blue paint to where the photo will go. I added a little muslin under the photo and drew with the Fudeball pen a border around the outer edge of the pic making a border. I have also added a Lavinia stamp to both pages and randomly stamped a Kinder Kreations stamp on the pages. 

I stamped the title using Tim Holtz alpha stamps and then used some Pink Fresh escape the ordinary alpha stickers. 

Things got a bit messy by the end of my creating - it was a late night -- and i got a little paint on my photo - I used a baby wipe to clean it off and it took a little of the colour off - but it was in a good way as it helped the photo blend in with the turquoise paint of the moodboard - sometimes a mistake can be a hidden blessing.

Hi everyone.

What a fabulous mood board to start the year off.

I was inspired by the colours to create this LO.

I started by grabbing the first sheet of card stock I found.  It didn't matter what colour it was 'cause I knew I was going to cover it with gesso.   I then stuck down, using gel medium, whatever bits and pieces were lying around on my desk.  

I'd made some paper moulds (Lowel Lattice & Fairy Garden) for another project and then didn't use them and they were still on my desk so on they went!

After a couple of coats of gesso, I sprinkled on some Lindy's Magical Shakers (Afternoon Delight Denim & Alpine Ice Rose) and gave them a spritz with water.   A little goes a long way with these powders so make sure you used the opening with the small holes!

Finished off with some Cocoa Vanilla Life is Beautiful alphas.

Plenty of time to get creating and give this mood board a go for a chance to win a store voucher.

Marquee Love - With Karyn Schultz!

Hi Scrapping Clearly Lovelies!!

It's Karyn here, and today I have an off the page project to share with you made using some Heidi Swapp goodies available in the Scrapping Clearly Store. 

This is quite a simple project that I did this morning with my daughter Jessica. I've used a Heidi Swapp Marquee love letter J and a sheet of Heidi Swapp Honey & Spice Kindred patterned paper. I also had a selection of Heidi Swapp Magnolia Jane washi but decided not to use them in the end. 

I used the letter template in the Marquee Love pack to cut a "J" in the patterned paper and then punched out holes for the lights. This part was a bit tricky as I didnt have a large enough hole punch and you need to get them right so that the bulb caps fit in place.

Then Jessica assembled the light according to the instructions and viola - a pretty light for her bedside table. 

We have had this Marquee light sitting in the craft stash for some time and I'm so glad we have used it. It will be easy to add a different patterned paper in the future or to decorate the edges with washi. I hope you are inspired to do some of your unfinished projects these holidays!
