I love my Wednesday share day!

Here a sneak peek of the page.... before you see the finished project, I wanted to share some steps to how I created the page.

I started with a sheet of smooth Bazzil Marshmallow cardstock.

I got my trusty old compass and drew some mixed circles to the page.

Then I hand traced over these with a thin black Posca Pen. I went around a couple of times, and it did not have to be perfect! Added some squiggles and doodling as I went.

Next I grabbed a speckled Tim Holtz stencil and put modeling paste through - keeping the paste within the circle.

While the modelling paste was still wet, I sprinkle some OLD black/gold embossing powder (from my stash) onto the paste. I shook of the excess, and then heat set with a heat gun.

Then I repeated this - again used modeling paste - this time through a Tim Holtz sunburst stencil, applied to the largest circle.

While the modeling paste was drying, I sprinkled a fine gold embossing powder to the sunbursts and heat set with my heat gun. Things were starting to look sparkly!

Now for some colour! I used Colour Blast Shimmer Dusts - water soluble, bright, and with shimmer- they were perfect for this project! I used the colour: Duke and mixed a small amount of the dust with water and painted some of the circles. Using a wet brush and fast strokes, I was able to apply colour in different gradients. I would add more water or more colour to change the shade of blue in the circle.

I used the same water and Shimmer Dust mix to paint some flowers to match!

And here is my final page all assembled!  Once assembled I added machine stitched border, a painted blue edge, blue splatters and some random black stamping. To embellish I added some chipboard circle words, flowers, enamel heart stickers and some Tim Holtz Small talk word quotes.

The black embossing on the stencil looks and feels so good! LOL!

I just love how this page came together - and just loved combining stencils with embossing powder!

Hello Scrapping Clearly friends!

I am so excited to be here and sharing my first creation for Scrapping Clearly. Thank you so much to Kylie for the opportunity to create for her amazing store, along side her awesome team.

If you don't know me, here are some facts:

I have been scrapbooking for over 17 years. The evidence of this is my large organised stash, shelves full of albums and piles of layouts! My life is about the balance and juggle – as I divide time between my gorgeous family (husband and 3 girls), my rewarding work (as a Speech Pathologist) and my “me” time (Scrapbooking and Jujitsu). I think I can scrapbook with nearly any product; I love a good challenge. I love patterned papers just as much as I love combining mixed media to create my own backgrounds. But embellishments will always be my favourite thing; nothing like creating perfect interesting clusters!

I am starting my shares with a scrapbook layout with a mixed media background. I was inspired the awesome new February Mood board.

Here is sneak peek of the layout. Check it out and then I will show you some of the steps I took to create the page.

Here is this month's mood board that I used as my inspiration.

I started by gesso-ing a sheet of Bazzill Marshmallow. I used my new Prima - Finnabair - Art Basics Silicon brush: this made the gesso go on so smooth!

Next I did some stamping and clear heat embossing. Using Versamark Watermark stamp pad, I stamped a row of hearts from the Carabelle Studio Mini Textures set. I used WOW clear embossing powder to heat set the stamped hearts.

Next it was time to add colour! I decided to use some Lindy's Magical Shakers - so easy and fun to use. I used Oom Pah Pah Pink, Autumn Maple Crimson and Alpine Ice Rose.

I sprayed some water first, and then sprinkled some of the Lindy's Magical Shakers in.

I used a heat gun to dry and move the colour around the page. I used a paint brush to pick up some of the colour and add some splatters.

With the background done, I started adding layers of paper under the photo. I used a mix of alphabet stickers to create the title.

Then I decided I needed some more black. So I took another of the stamps from Carabelle Studio Mini Textures set - this time the textured circles. Using Black Staz On, I stamped a few of the circle images around the page.

Then I added some black splatters using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Spray in Black Soot.

With the photo mounted on some papers, I added a few stickers and puffy hearts to finish my page.

I love the texture of the embossed stamped hearts with the pink shiny magical colours on top.

Grateful for my Journey- An art Journal Page.

Good Morning Bloggers,

 Lisa here with a Mixed media update.

I am Blessed.

 In so many ways, an amazing family, incredible friends,

 a job that keeps me on my game and a craft that allows me

 creative freedom and is a perfect stress reliever.

I am a creative who loves to give and share their art wholy,

so today I am sharing with you a piece of art the I have created, 

that reflects the pure gratitude I have, for those who assist my life journey.

Being a creative giver has its perks.

Recently the amazingly generous folks at Ranger Ink,

gifted me a few select items to play with, 

today I am sharing with you what I have created using the new Letter It range

and a few of my fave Ranger products.

Letter It

Is a carefully curated collection of stamps, pens, embossing powders,

 pearl powders, mediums, tools, and surfaces designed to work together

 so you can create beautifully personalized cards, tags, gifts and

 more for all of life's occasions!

I am not really a card maker, even though I do make cards,

 and tags, yeah, I may make a handful per year, if that.

So playing with this new cool new product, I took out my small Ranger Dylusions journal,

because for me, my art journal is definitely the place to play, and experiment with new mediums. 

I started with a light coat of Bubblegum pink Dylusions paint using a baby wipe

(yep the colour is off in the pic above,

 because I needed to capture the beauty of the perfect pearls).

Perfect pearl powder; not something I have ever played with before.

I just YouTubed a video or 2 and I have to say, I love the shimmering subtle results - if you know me, you would know that subtle is not really my thing, but this is beautiful for a background element.

 Next, I added a strip of paper from the drop sheet on my art table..... don't underestimate this jewel in your creative arsenal of supplies. One's drop sheet will give your art a beautiful mixture of colour, texture, and random elements that one would find hard to actually create on its own.

I always add a little paint around the paper I have added, to work the piece together.

I have used Dina Wakley Magenta and Dina white Gesso.

 A little stamping with a Dina Wakley Background stamp using archival Ink in black and plum.

Then a Dina Medieval Cross stencil which I embossed with Ranger Bridal Tinsel embossing powder.

I cut a few leaves from my drop sheet and added them to each side

 for extra elements and to create a balance across the page.

Back to the Letter It stamp set where I selected a few stamps,

 to create a title and emboss the words with Ranger Gun Metal Embossing Powder.

 And a few more letter stamps to emboss

I added a little extra detail using the Letter It metalic markers and a Stabilo black magic pencil.

Happy with the result, I really enjoyed playing with these fun items,

definitely not just for the card/tag enthusiast.

Be Brave-Be the best version of yourself

Howdy Bloggers , Lisa Here with a Friday Mixed Media update .

Its been a crazy few weeks of family commitments and heart connections.

Today I'm sharing a layout that I started a couple of weeks ago but only finished up yesterday.

Sometimes just having completed a background prior can allow you so much more flow,

to bust in and get that baby done swiftly.

So my eldest child has just had some new professional shots taken,

(she's a professional wrestler-if you didn't know already)

and I really couldn't wait to get my hands on them and scrap them,

She's such a wonderful kid,she actually printed them for me -yay.

Knowing the colours she was in , and celebrating my love of her passion,

Dylusions Bubblegum Pink acrylic paint provided a perfect vibrant base for my vibrant girls photo.

I laid a Heidi Swapp word "wish" stencil onto the wet painted  Marshmallow cardstock page

 and used a baby wipe to rub back some paint,to reveal the words

 and then I smeared some Colourblast "Lipstick"Texture paste through the stencil. 

while it was wet I embossed the lettering with some

 Stampendeous Chunky Black Embossing Enamel powder.. Swoon at the effect .

Once the background is complete a little cosmetic fun takes place,

I didn't used any background stamps on this one as I usually would ,

 but I added an extra element by rough doodling and

 writing a few sentimental words with my Fude Balll pen,

 to add interest point and tell the story .

Layering of tissue paper, chippy, muslin, and whatever else I have laying on the table ,

 adds texture and colour behind the black matt photo

*note to self --wipe layout/photos free of dust before taking DT blog photos.

A few epoxy stars,a  water colour sticker from Vicki Boutin,

a couple Me and My big Idea chippy pieces, a gold flourish from Jollygirl, 

various lettering and this layout was finished .

Love the vibrancy of the page and the subject .

100 Day Project

Howdy Folks , Lisa here with a quick Scrapping Clearly Friday update.

I'm always trying to motivate myself to create everyday. 

Usually I'm great for 4 days of the week,

but work commitments take over and I sorta-kinda get distracted.

But I really want to create more and a challenge is always great motivation.

I have this black paged journal which I picked up at an op shop

(its actually a photo album, but Iam re-purposing it )

Today I'm sharing the quick Title page I have created .

I started with some Envy Colour Blast Paste 

Then i hit it with 3 lots of Colour Blast Embossing Powder

"Bling"

 "Apple Of My Eye"

 and "Deep Water"

 I then fixed it with a heat too

 Completed a little journaling about my commitment to the challenge.

Then dressed the page with a little Birdie and a Title I made with some scraps.

Making it quick and simple, Leaving more time to create.

well that's the theory anyway. :)
