Em with you today sharing a very easy Art Journal page. 

This page is made up mostly of the awesome Dress my Craft Transfer Me pieces. The Transfers you see on the page are from the Botanical Scripts collection. This was my first attempt at using these transfers as I was a little nervous using them. I thought they may be a little difficult to apply, but boy was I wrong! They work a treat!

I layered them on after I had primed my page with White Gesso. And I overlaid them like I would stamps or any type of collage system. Once I had added all the transfers I wanted, I applied a coat of Clear Gesso, as this 'sets' the transfers ready for the mediums layered on top. With some modelling paste I used a stencil from the Stampers Anonymous Mini set 30 for a soft vintage feel.

I added 2 Distress Oxide sprays to compliment the soft colours in the transfers, and travel through the stencil work. These colours were Speckled Egg and Mustard seed. And these were activated with water and then used like a water colour over the page. Dabbing away any excess or to lighten the shade of colour. Once these were dry I began to layer some stamps. These were from 2 different collections, some from Stampers Anonymous Field Notes set and Art Daily - Carte Postale set.

I finished with a  Butterfly Layer and a couple of Small talk stickers, and a good flicking of white paint. 

If you have yet to play with these transfers, please do as they are just amazing! Super easy, super effective and super gorgeous.

Steampunk

Hi everyone,

I'm still attempting to perfect an image transfer and this is my latest effort.

After I'd transferred my image using gel medium (ensuring it was well and truly dry) I randomly scrapped some Faber Castell Whipped Spackle through a stencil.   I then stuck on a heap of chipboard pieces with gel medium, layering them with gay abandon.   A lot of old ones from my stash (basically anything that fitted the steampunk theme but also some new Scrap FX mini cogs.   (these are so cute).

I then covered the lot by dry brushing on some gesso  and then painted the lot with some bronze paint from my stash.   I then went back in with some black Dylusions paint, dry brushing again in random places and finished off by rubbing in some Platinum Inka Gold using my finger.

Image transfer

Hi everyone

I decided to try something new (for me) with this and did an image transfer.

I started by printing out my photo using a laser printer.  

 (I originally tried a black and white photo but that didn't work.   Not sure why, maybe user error!)   

I then coated both my cardstock and the front of my photo with matte medium using a silicon brush and placed the printout face down on my card stock.   I used an old credit card to squeeze out all the wrinkles trying not to get any medium on the top.   

When dry (well, almost) I spritzed the back of my printout with water and gently tried to rub off the paper.   All I can say is that I should not have been so impatient and waited until it was well & truly dry.   I lost a fair portion of my imagine as it wasn't completely dry.   Lesson learned.

I then dry brushed on some gesso and added some background stencilling.   I used a Donna Downey stencil but any would do.   I then glued down some chipboard pieces I had in my stash.

I added colour with an assortment of Dina Wakley paints and some Distress sprays.   I mixed a little Lime paint with some Faber Castle whipped spackle for dimension an scrapped that roughly through a stencil.

I added some words and highlighted them using a Stabilo aquarellable pencil.

I then finished of with some Viva Décor Inka Gold in platinum and copper which I watered down a little and painted on with  brush.

I'll definitely be trying this technique again.   Why not give it a go too?
