Hello Olaf with Melinda

Hi there my scrappy friends and fellow ScrappingClearly fans! It's Melinda here with you sharing some inspiration for the fun July sketch challenge! You still have a few days left to get your entries in so make sure you head over to the FB group here to upload your take!

Today I am using the beautiful Pink Paislee C'est La Vie collection to document the day we met and brought home our bunny Olaf!

And here is my take on the sketch!

I really, really loved this months sketch, once again designed by Peg - it was super fun to work with!

I have stayed pretty true to the sketch though I moved what I read as the stitching around the whole page further out and changed up 1 photo for 3. You'll notice too that my title and journalling, though they take up the same space on the page as the sketch, are also changed up a bit!

I started with a quick coat of clear gesso all over the background paper (paper #10) and then grabbed my Metallic Mint gelato and mixed it with some water to make a watercolour paint for the background! I've also added in a couple of swipes of my Lime gelato. Doesn't it look great! It's hard to capture the sparkly finish on camera but, swoon!

I knew I wanted to line my photo's up across the page over the watercolour and had decided to fussy cut some flowers from Paper #8 to layer behind the photo's as well and LOVE how this looks!

I grabbed the ephemera pack for the big "hello" piece which I knew I was going to use for my title and also a gold edged label for the date. The black and white stripped alpha's are from my stash.

I wanted to bring that yellow up the page so grabbed that yellow washi strip from the washi pack and layered that behind my photo at the top. While I had the washi out I tore off a small piece to go under my title.

I have used some of the cork hearts and black tiny vellum word stickers to finish my page off.

Oh, I have also used some scraps from Paper #3 & Paper #2 for layers behind my photo's.

Shine Bright - Scrapbook Layout by Tania

Hi lovelies!! Today I have a layout share for you! Have you ever purchased pretty things and just couldn't bring yourself to use them??? Oh yes, you know what I mean. Well, I am definately guilty of this, many times over!! But it's time to change my ways!

I almost forgot all about these gorgeous goodies I purchased from Scrappingclearly during Kylie's last sale!!! How could I???? My gosh, I totally love Cocoa Vanilla products, but seem to always be admiring other people's work using them!!! Not anymore....

I used this month's sketch to spark my inspiration and pulled out the stash of goodies I had!

 I love how all the Cocoa Vanilla ranges coordinate with each other and for this layout, I have used 3 different collections.

Papers from: Cocoa Vanilla Wild at Heart collection

Die cuts from: Cocoa Vanilla Free Spirit collection

The flair is also from Cocoa Vanilla, from the Love Always collection!

The Watercolour print on the papers mimicked the Brushstrokes on the sketch, and for the lines, the patterned paper worked brilliantly.

Then it was just a matter of using the die cuts from the ephemera pack to fill in all the other details!! It came together so very quickly.

To make my title stand out, I drew around the edges, with an Alcohol marker.

July sketch - by Chloe

Hello and welcome to July!  We have officially started the last half of the year - isn't it just flying by :/ ... anyway, a new month means new challenges!!

This one was really easy to work with ...

I have used the awesome YOU ROCK range by Cocoa Vanilla Studios again - it's such a fun versatile range!  The colours are great for boy pages!

I only added the gold ink just before I glued everything down - I thought it needed so extra texture - this was perfect :) ... I just applied it randomly with a scraper ...

My take on Chloe's fabulous sketch... by Tania

Hi everyone, hope you are all having a lovely Saturday morning! Today I'm sharing my take on the fab sketch that our very own DT member, Chloe, created. 

I love sketches, and this one was just too cute. I have stuck to the sketch pretty much with not too many bells and whistles, just a little embellishing and voila! 

I started with a watercolour background made with Gelatos. Then cut up some of the cute Crate Paper- 'Afternoon', from the gorgeous Maggie Holmes, BLOOM collection. I love having the sketch as a guide for this paper pieced background. I gave my layout a border at top and bottom with the Dear Lizzy TUTTI FRUTTI paper. (If you wet the edge of the paper, it is alot easier to curl!) For my paper layers, I then used a mix of the Maggie Holmes BLOOM and the Dear Lizzy, HAPPY PLACE collection.  I needed a bit of something purple to match the facepaint on my daughter in the photo, so I had a watercolour paper piece in my scraps I had made with a few Dylusions spray colours. It was perfect for just a couple of pops of purple. You can see it just under my Chippy title! (Which I have had in my stash for soooo long BTW. I painted this with some Dylusions & other acrylic paints in a few different colours to get the right shade.)

To embellish my layout, I fussy cut some more of those cute butterflies from the Maggie Holmes, FLUTTER paper, and used some of the little rubber shapes. (I'm quite a fan of these!) There's a Prima word sticker on there, (these are great, as in the pack you get alpha stickers and word stickers!) Finally, I love adding enamel dots to my pages for that final pop. These were from my stash but you can find some in the Scrappingclearly shop here:

Hi there and welcome to the Scrappingclearly blog! Melinda here with you today sharing my take on the gorgeous sketch put together by the very talented Chloe! Isn't it an awesome design!!

I have, again, used the stunning Bloom collection by Maggie Holmes and a gorgeous photo of my now 17 1/2 year old niece from my 2008 wedding :)

I have used that gorgeous "Moments" paper for my background which really surprised me! I thought I would use the other side but it just wasn't happening for me!

That sunburst was made using a Heidi Swapp stencil from my stash and a mix of Heidi Swapp colour shine in Primrose, Blush and (of course!) Gold Lame and then cut down from the 12x12 paper I started with. I have mostly stuck to the sketch but I did move the big cluster from the left to the right and found a white cardstock frame I had pre-cut which worked perfectly :) And, of course, more of that oh so pretty gold vellum!

I thought about adding something else for the title but ended up going with this gorgeous gold glitter piece from the ephemera pack. I just backed it with a sheet from the 6x6 paper pad - those bows are just adorable!! I made that fringe myself with my handy fringe scissors that I have had in my stash for years! That bottom layer is actually the branding strip from one of the papers and the black and white stripe is from another of Maggie's collections.

The sketch called for something up the top so I ended up picking this piece from the ephemera as it brought in both the gold glitter and the black. I also added some more of that fringed paper :)

As you can see I have scattered more of those gorgeous fussy cut butterflies from the "Flutter" paper. I needed a little extra something and after a little mucking about I decided on cutting out a couple of those little butterflies from the matching 6x6 paper from the paper pad.

Some sequins by Studio Calico - they are so shiny and pretty!! - and also some sprinkles of Gold Lame colour shine to finish it off.

A close up of where all the action is in the middle of the page! I just adore this photo of my niece and I can't believe that 8 years have passed so quickly and she is no longer this little girl but practically an adult!

And one more close up, just for good measure ;)

Time Flies - July Sketch Reveal

Good Morning, Rikki here today with your first design team reveal of the month.
