Two from One, 6 x 12 Layouts by Marelle

Do you have any old photos that are not quite in focus? 

Are you time poor and want to create a quick layout in less than 30 minutes?

If the answer to both questions is YES then I have the perfect quick layout for you!

I started off with a piece of Marshmallow Cardstock and dribbled Dylusions Spray Ink in Dirty Martini onto the page then sprayed some water over it to make it drip down the page. I dried it using a heat gun and then cut the cardstock in half. I have been creating my 6x12 pages for years - they are so quick and easy and a great mojo starter!

I used a Permaball Marker and doodled around the edges of the page then used one of my absolute favourite stamps. It comes in a set of three but there is only one set left in stock - so be quick! Lisa Oxley uses this stamp in a myriad of ways and I had to own it after seeing it on one of her paintings a while back.

I used the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink in Peeled Paint and sprayed the pad with a little bit of water. I then used this to stamp the small bloom into the right-hand top corner of the page. I then used the Oxide ink again and stamped three blooms approx 2" from the bottom of the page.

I then stamped 3 blooms on a separate piece of white cardstock, fussy cut them and adhered over the three stamped blooms on the page using foam tape.

I matted my photo with a thin border of black cardstock. I adhered some green thread over the top of the blooms and stuck the matted photo over the top using glue.

I had a photo of my two daughters taken about 9 years ago, they were both in a stage performance and someone snapped this photo but it was out of focus - it is the only photo from this time and I wanted to scrap it. So I cut out the photo of one of my Daughters to 3"x3" and it did not seem so "out of focus"! The smaller photo was perfect on the 6x12 format. You can use the second 6x12 for another quick layout as your background is already created.

Letters to My Daughters - Art Journalling with Feeling

Marelle back again!

I have an art journal/"Letters to my Daughters" book and haven't added much to it lately - so I have promised myself I will add to it each month!

I altered a visual artist diary a few years ago and I write letters to my Daughters - sometimes it's the funny quotes they said as little girls, sometimes it is what I love about them right now, each page has a different story and is special to me.. ... I hope it will be special to my Daughters in years to come.

Here is a picture of what the book looks like and an example of some of the pages.

I used paint and texture paste through a Tim Holtz stencil to create the front and back covers.

I coloured gauze a little darker than the cover colour and attached metal embellishments : Journey : Strength : Knowledge.

I love that Art Journalling does not have to be perfect - and also that Mia and Ella will have this memento of all the interesting and funny stories of love handwritten by me.

For this next double page in my Letters to my Daughters journal I used the gorgeous Vicki Boutin acrylic paint set from the shop - in this set are the colours: Orange Slice, Cotton Candy, Crushed Pineapple and Cherry Bomb. I wiped a small amount of each of these colours over the page using an old credit card. I allowed these pages to dry and started creating a background for my letters.

I keep discovering new paints in our shop - these are delicious and blend well! Another "must have" in your stash!

Next I used the gorgeous daisy Ken Oliver stamp randomly over the pages. Ken's stamps are so detailed and stamp beautifully. 

Here is the letter I wrote today as my Daughter was embarking on Year 10 at Senior School (1hr 15 away) after spending 10 years Prep - Yr9 at our local campus which is small and rural.

Marelle back again!

I love the idea of having either photos or scrapping pages on my walls in my scrap room

I have made the frame simple and pretty, and have used the quote that came with the frame kit. I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Patina and decorated the frame

using hessian strips and flowers, there are endless possibilities for decorations for this frame.

There are packs of inserts available for this frame kit in the Scrapping Clearly Shop so if you feel like using one of these for a change it will only take seconds to create a new wall art piece. 

This frame kit would make a beautiful Wedding, Baby Shower or Birthday gift.

Stencilling with Faber Castell Texture Luxe

Happy 2018!

I hope your New Year is healthy happy and full of creative times!

I have been playing with the amazing Faber Castell Texture Luxe in Pearl

with this amazing stencil from Kinder Kreations,

both from our shop - I love how the Luxe shines, and dries so quickly!

I used Marshmallow cardstock (my fave) being heavy weight it is great to use

with heavy mediums such as texture pastes, heavy body paints, thick gesso, etc...

I used the fabulous Dina Wakley heavy body acrylic paints in Ocean, Lemon,

and Black. 

After I wiped the paints on the background, I lightly stamped over this using a stamp in my stash (I am going to use everything this year in my stash -  wish me luck!) and used my Pilot Permaball pen to journal around the outside of the layout and doodle around the stencilled areas.

I matted the photo using Kraft cardstock and Black Raven cardstock.

I love scrapping in 6x12 format - I have lots albums of 6x12's that I have created over the years.

When I get bored with 12x12 I change over to 6x12 - it lifts my mojo. 

It is a bit hard to see the actual shine of the Pearl Texture Luxe in this photo,

but it is beautiful and adds interest to the layout!

Finding Me Layout

Hi everyone

Marelle back again to share some yumminess from our fantastic SHOP!

Today I am using the amazing Prima Impasto paint in Lemon Peel, Raspberry Pink and Aubergine.  This is the first time I have had a play with this paint and to say I am in love would be an understatement!  These paints are water-soluble when wet and permanent when dry - great for laying on mixed media projects.

I also used one of my all-time faves Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylic Paint in Penny with Carabelle Art Printing Plate - Numbers.  I love how my background turned out!

As I have said on many occasions most of us forget to document our lives, we are busy documenting our family friends etc. I try and scrap a page of 'me" once a month.  This page is about my journey right now.

I hope you will always remember to scrap pages of yourself for your family to learn more about you in years to come.

YOU ARE ENOUGH Frame

Hi again everyone,

This time I have something a little different to share with you.  I have created a piece of home decor (this is for a special friend who needs a little lift) which would suit a Teenage girl, or it could be placed in your studio or Scrapping Room!

I adore the Dina Wakley heavy body paint  and her stamps and my doodling around them create a non perfect effect that is what I was aiming for - so it looks a little more artsy!



I have used an embroidery hoop and I painted it with the amazing Dina Wakley heavy body paint in Magenta.  I then cut out a piece of Watercolour paper (I cut it a little larger than the frame, that way you can trim it down at the end).  I used Derwent Inktense pencils, Dina Wakley Stamps, Pilot Permaball Pen,  Dylusions Bubble Gum Pink,  Bling.



I hope this inspires you to try this gorgeous little gift !
