March Madness already - Childhood Memories (ATC)

 Welcome to Saturday.

I can't believe March is already here and we are starting the countdown to chocolate.. I mean Easter.

Today's share is another ATC. 

Prompt 9: Childhood Memories: illustrate a cherished childhood memory.

I really didn't know what memory I wanted to share but I had some images in mind so that is where I started. 

Among the Clouds

I started by colouring the ballons on the stamp with oxide inks - just used a paint brush to brush the ink onto the spots I wanted and then used the black stazon for the girl. 

I stamped it straight onto the paper doiley. 

I then highlighted the balloons by drawing around the edges with black pen and then adding some white pen to add some dimension.

while that was drying, I created the background. 

I scraped some light modelling paste through a small diamond stencil. This stencil is randomly in my collection and I have no idea where it came from.

I then smooshed some Oxide inks (spritz with water) onto the page - Aged Mahogany and Rusty Hinge.

I used some gel medium to adhere the doiley and when I did it I wanted to make sure you could still 'see' the diamonds, so I used a generous amount of gel medium and pressed it down. 

I finished it off with some.. 

yep you guessed it, Stitching and a quote. 

I definitely feel this reminds me of childhood. Who hasn't played with balloons.

I love the contrasts of the pieces in this book that comes from this process of following prompts and just creating.

Paper Towel Picasso: March's Floral Fantasy Unfolded! - by Amy

Hello Everyone! I can't believe it's already March! 

I'm absolutely in love with the whimsical watercolour palette of this month – the March Palette Play - the colours are just so beautiful. 

As soon as I saw these colours, an idea sparked in my mind, and I decided to try something a bit different. Can you spot it? I used kitchen paper towel as the perfect base for the wet mediums to achieve this whimsical watercolour effect - making the process not only easy peasy but also incredibly fun!

But before we dive into the creative process, let me share the colour palette for this month's Palette Play.

Starting with a good-quality paper towel is crucial. It allows for the absorption of the wet mediums to be applied later. 

In no particular order, I added splashes of colours to my work area, then placed the paper towel over them, repeatedly applying until I was satisfied with the coverage. After a quick drying session or a speedier option with a heat gun, I was ready to piece together this page.

Here are the products I used:

• White Cardstock
• Dylusions Ink Spray: Peony Blush, Vibrant Turquoise, Crushed Grape, and a yellow from my stash (Bee Arty-Citrus).
• Hand-cut cute black & white circles from Dina Wakley Media Collage Paper Backgrounds.
• Title stamped with Art By Marlene: Creative Alphabet-Light Art, using the Tim Holtz Distress Mini Archival Kit #1. For this page, I used Picked Raspberry and Fossilized Amber. This stamp set is fantastic for travel, scrap days, or retreats.
• Archival Ink stamp ink in Paradise Teal and Majestic Violet.
• Randomly stamped with Vicki Boutin - Colour Study Stamp Set.

To finish off the page, I added Charms Creations cloud and used various embellishments from my stash.

 Hi creative peeps, today I am sharing my take on this months February Moodboard which has some of my favourite colours.

Whimsical Monsters and Junque Journalling

 Why hello there Saturday morning...

Let's start of Saturday with my take on this week's ATC prompt. 

Whimsical Monsters - Invent your own whimsical monster and bring it to life.

well... I didn't create my own, instead I used a stamp. so, you know, same same but different. 

Keep it Real

an Octopus Bride is whimsical and monstery isn't it... 

I started off by sticking down some Rice Paper from the Lucky Findings Butterfly Effect pack. 

Then I got out my crackle paste (it's almost dead so I'm trying to resurrect it) and used it like I would with Gesso and scrapped it on in places. 

then I stamped the image onto some tissue paper and added it to the background. 

Coloured it in using watercolour pens and some distress oxide inks (supply list at the end). 

stitched around the outside and added a title. 

ATCs don't need to be complicated just fun.

I also thought I would jump on and tell you about the Junque Journal Kits. 

I purchased the January one. You see I'm still finding my way back to creating regularly and I've found that kits/instructions have been helping. 

and well the January Junque Journal Kit is freaking awesome. 
I'll share my completed one in another post

(Code for once I've actually finished it).

but.. what I wanted to say is that even though there are instructions and majority of the items needed. You only have to dig into your own supply for the mediums and glues really - unless you're like me and go off on a tangent. 

and just so you can see what I'm talking about, I thought I would share a page from it. 

on the left is the image that was to be created... 

on the right is where I ended up. 

I mostly followed the instructions, but I will be totally honest. When colouring the flower, I broke it (as in, I absolutely freaking hated what I did). So, I had to come up with an alternative. 

I looked through my stash and found this image that was from a Banksy calendar that I was given. I just cut it down to size (it still has a flower) and added it along with my usual words. For me a creative piece isn't finished unless it has words... 

Then, the background wasn't grungy enough, so I added black paint, washi tape and some other bits to get to a stage where I liked what I had created. 

As you can see, even though you are following an amazing kit there is still lots of room to add your own personal flair. If you're looking for a little something to kick off your creativity, then I highly recommend them.

Junque Journal Kits are released monthly and they are amazing!!!!!.

'Dream Chaser' by Emma Zappone with VIDEO

Welcome to my Thursday share.
I have an 8x10" canvas with VIDEO for you today.
It is based on this months Palette Play 'Natures Bounty'

I'm not going to lie, this Palette excited me, as I love browns and greens. The earthy feel this has is sensational.

I had fun mixing and matching some of the Lucky Findings papers for this project.
And I love the effect the transparency from the 'Earthly Riches' collection has for the background.

I love how it looks like a large stamped area.
I also added papers from the 'Velveteen Elk' collection, they matched the Earthly Riches range just beautifully. There is also a layer of a 'Ciao Bella' rice paper to compliment all the layers.

I loved adding all the textural elements also. Like the resin wings and gear elements. 
They added a little edge to the project. 

The ticket elements are a variety of pieces from all different Tim Holtz Ideaology tags, tickets and ephemera. I just rummage through and choose pieces that compliment the colour scheme.

And my project wouldn't be mine if it didn't have some 49&Market on it. Leaves & Butterflies are always a must.
