Days gone by

Hi everyone,

Hope you're keeping warm and getting plenty of crafting time.  

It snowed just up the road a couple of days ago, so I'm very happy to be spending time in my craft room with the heater on!  

I was inspired by this month's mood board to scrap an old photo of my mother and uncle.

I started by going through my stash of paints looking for the right colours. Then through my embellies to see what would match.   I wanted to use some Heidi Swapp flower trimmings. These are pretty cool.   You can use them as is or hit them with a heat gun and they will curl up.   I did two stacks and secured them with a brad.    They weren't exactly the right colour but I wasn't sure how paint would effect their curlability (I'm sure that's word!) so I heated the first without paint and the 2nd after painting them.   It didn't seem to make any difference.

 I started my LO by sponging some Dina Wakley acrylic paint through a Dark Room Door stencil

I then built up my background using a few different stencils, some Ceramcoat paint, Art Anthology Velvet dimensional paint and some Colour Blast paste in Dusty Charcoal.   My paste was old and had gone thick and stiff and I was just about to throw it in the bin but decided to mix it with some cheap impasto - and it worked!   Yay!

I sketched in where my photo stack would be and then sewed on my title using Pink Paislee Bella Rouge Alphas. I find sewing not only adds interest to the page but is also the best way to secure these acrylic alphas.   

I die cut a heap of leaves from my left over paper and then suck it all down, along with some pearl beads from my stash and some Fancy Pants cork stickers and a Flair.  

Thought I had a lot more photos of the process but user error came into play!

Cocoa Vanilla Easy layers

There is nothing better than getting a great co-ordinated paper range out to play. Everything just fits together easily.

This one is from Cocoa Vanilla called "More than Words".

I started with a stencil and some light and fluffy texture paste.

I then tinted it with some spiced marmalade distress oxide spray.

Using Hickory smoke distress inks and a KinderKreation rose foam stamp I added some very subtle inked images to the background.

Then I just had fun building up the focal area around the photo's with the ephemera pack.

JEN HALL is our AUGUST Guest Designer......

Hi everyone, 

Jen here, excited to share my first project for my guest DT gig this month. I have been playing around with the beautiful collage papers by Art by Marlene today, these papers are not just for art journaling. 

They look great on scrapbook layouts too. Also added colour with the Art by Marlene watercolour sets, and added a couple of stamped heart images using the stamp “STAMPBM24”. 

Such a fun project of my gorgeous daughters with their braids.

I will be uploading each Wednesday throughout August be sure to keep any out on my next upload.

Treasure today

Welcome to another weekend to unleash your creativeness... I had another crack at the moodboard - I love a good challenge, so why not scrap another photo using these amazing hues.

I have used some old Studio Calico Autumn Press collection for the base of this layout. I glued down a piece of white tissue paper with some Liquitex Gel medium and used my brayer to roll out any imperfections. I then chose some Stampers Anonymous stamps and stamped them in a few spots on the page - I used the photo to help with placement of these. I then used two Viva Las Vegas background stamps to add more depth to the stamping. 

With Liquitex light modelling paste I added another layer with a TCW template (ledger).

 I then added layers under the photo. I backed/matted the photo with a project life card that I squared the corners on. I then incorporated similar peach/pink colours in varies hues of ephemera. 

An epoxy frame was cut and added before adding the photo. Other embellishments used on the layout - Rub on title, Jane Davenport journal tape strips, Heidi Swapp ephemera, enamel dots, Heidi Swapp Vintage Chic stickers.

The final touches were the collage words from Dina Wakley Media, the resin flowers and the stitched border in grey and black.

Fancy - With Karyn Schultz!

Hi Scrapping Clearly Lovelies!!

It's Karyn here, and today I have a scrapbook page to share with you made using the 13 Arts Aqua-Flora collection and other various goodies available in the Scrapping Clearly Store.

For my base I've used a sheet of 13 Arts Aqua-Flora Blue Breams 12x12 paper. I just love this paper range - in fact I love everything 13 Arts at the moment!

I firstly applied some clear gesso to the area under where I intend to place my photo and in the top left corner of the page. Then I added more background colour (navy, purple and charcoal) using Prima Watercolor Confections and a painting with plastic technique. This painting added more of the colours already on the page as I found that much of it became hidden once I added my photo and embellishments.

   

Here is a pic of my completed page. 

Around my photo I added clusters of tags cut from the 13 Arts Aqua-Flora collection papers, as well as tags from Heidi Swapp color magic notes. I also added some glass elements, metal embellishments, flowers, diecuts, and hessian from my stash.

 

The title is a Heidi Swapp wood words.  

 

I also added some Tim Holtz small talk word stickers around my photo. 

 

 I added a cluster in the top left corner using similar papers, tags and embellishments.
