Brag book Idea.

Hi Peeps,

I had my great nephews 1st birthday party to attend this weekend and of cause I didn't think of this idea until the day before, lucky it is a quick and simple technique.

I took an old hard board story book that I had for my kids back in the day. I covered the front, spine and back in white gesso with a palette knife to give texture and let it dry.

I then sprayed it with a selection of blue tone glimmer mist sprays.

I pulled out what ever I could find in blue tones for accents and paper only scraps and leftovers were used in the construction of this brag book.

I dragged some Tim Holtz Distress ink in peacok feathers colour around the edges of the page.

Flair buttons are an easy way to add some interest to a page.

I also had a couple of Cocoa Vanilla rubber charms left over to use.

Die cuts make lovely accents and they are flat to keep you brag book less bulky.

This was a quick and easy gift idea.

Thanks for looking

This special ink formulation requires the ink to be added to the ink pad provided.
  • Remove blank inkpad and inker bottle
  • Shake inker bottle vigorously to ensure proper ink flow.
  • Apply a small amount of ink to blank inkpad.
  • Rub into pad in a circular motion, covering the inkpad surface.
  • Store pad upside down.
  • For longer lasting results, store inked pads in a sealable plastic bag.
  • Reink as needed.

The metallic silver and gold inks have special foam ink pads and even come with a spare reinker.
Have some fun and arrange them all next to each other like a mermaid's tail, or stack them up all together for easy storage. They also all have an outside label on the edge so you can see the name and colour when they're stacked.

Celebrate all that is MAY

May is a huge month in our family - so many birthdays... and my  layout is all about my main man ... his birthday is on Monday - so a  little sneaky party is in order this weekend ... this pic lent itself to the amazing moodboard on offer this month... a pic of his visit to the Statue of Liberty  just over 10 years ago ... gosh I love his energy ....

I have used a base of Pink Fresh Studio cardstock and layered some white paint with a brayer... then added a little Dina Wakley paint in Medieval  and used a dot stencil with a little more white paint.

time for a little fiddling and layering... I have used some Kinder Kreations words and frame from the words ... also I have used some project life cards in the layering process

I have also used some Heidi Swapp Minc Ephemera

Now time for a title - what better way to accentuate this months colors than to use the Cocoa Vanilla 'life is beautiful' alpha...

I hope you have a fantastic creative weekend ... so many opportunities to expand on the moodboard and let your creative genius to unravel. Don't forget to get messy this amazing weekend!

What a Day - With Karyn Schultz!

Hi Scrapping Clearly Lovelies!!

It's Karyn here, and today I have a scrapbook page to share with you made using lots of goodies from the Shimelle Box of Crayons collection available in the Scrapping Clearly Store.

For my base I've used a sheet of white cardstock cut down to 11"x11". I added some background colour using Prima Watercolor Confections and a painting with plastic technique underneath in the area my photo and in the bottom right corner.

I then matted this cardstock on to a sheet of Shimelle "outpouring" 12x12 paper. From the Shimelle "Make Something" paper I fussy cut lots of elements to include on my page (cat faces, paint brush, lolly pops, and easel. I cut the "what a day" title from the Shimelle "In the frame" paper.

I backed 2 mandala diecuts (from my stash) with the yellow side of Shimelle "A new thought" paper then fussy cut around the edges. I attached this underneath my photo along with 2 mats of the green side of Shimelle "A new thought" paper and the pink side of  Shimelle "Thats the spirit" paper.

I hope this inspires you to add some fussy cut elements to your page. It is a great way to use up paper rather than ephemera!

Thanks so much for stopping by
