Product Spotlight - The Crafter's Workshop – Tacky-When-Dry Gel Medium

The Crafter's Workshop – Tacky-When-Dry Gel Medium

Some products quietly sit on the shelf until someone discovers just how versatile they really are and The Crafter's Workshop Tacky-When-Dry Gel Medium is one of those creative gems.

Unlike a traditional gel medium that dries completely hard, this clear acrylic medium dries with a permanent tacky finish, making it the perfect adhesive for adding eye-catching finishes to your mixed media projects. It's a favourite for applying transfer foils, gold, silver or copper leaf, flocking, mica powders, ultra-fine glitter, and other lightweight embellishments, opening up endless creative possibilities.

Its thick consistency also makes it ideal for use through stencils. Simply apply a thin layer with a palette knife, allow it to dry completely until clear (patience is the secret!), then gently press your foil transfer sheet or metal leaf onto the tacky surface to reveal beautifully detailed designs. If needed, a gentle pass with a heat tool can help reactivate the tackiness before applying your foil—but avoid overheating the medium.

Of course, it doesn't stop there. Tacky-When-Dry Gel Medium can also be used for collage, decoupage, and as a creative adhesive for layered mixed media projects. If your finished piece is likely to be exposed to moisture or frequent handling, simply seal it with your favourite varnish or sealer to protect the surface.
