My interpretation of the January mood board - PJ Laing

 Hi everyone, welcome to my very first blog post!

I’m so excited to be sharing a journal page inspired by the January mood board – Summer Sorbet 🍉🍋
While digging through my craft stash, I couldn’t resist pulling out some of my new 13@rts products that I purchased from Scrapping Clearly. My journal of choice for this page is the Dylusions Large Ledger Journal, which is perfect for layering and getting a little messy.
For the background, I used 13@rts sprays in Pastel Yellow and Pearl Bordeaux. To bring in those juicy orange tones, I added Orange Rainbow Colour, a pigment powder that really packs a punch. 

I started building my layers with Dina Wakley collage paper and incorporated her Seeing Is Believing stamp to tick off the bold mark making prompt. 

The quote I chose for this page is:
“Peel away the worries and taste the sweetness of life.”
I used two stencils on this page. The first was a TCW stencil called Vintage Scrolls, which I applied using 13@rts white gesso mixed with texture powder. This gave me a lovely thick paste to work with and created my crisp coconut white texture. The second stencil was the 13@rts Summer Flowers stencil, used with an ink pad and blending brush for a softer layered look.
My watermelon slice was created by cutting a semi-circle from one of the pages. I painted it using 13@rts water colours and then integrated it into the spread by pulling in elements from the surrounding pages.
I’ve always wanted to use some of the Lucky Findings to make paper dolls, and these three fit so perfectly — they really finished the page for me. 

As always, my final touches are hand-drawn details and splatter, because no journal page of mine ever feels complete without them!
