Good Morning Arty Peeps,
Hope the warmer weather is agreeing with you,
must admit some rain would be nice!
Today I'm sharing a couple of things because this first one is a work in progress.
I recently scored myself a Vicki Boutin Junque Journal and decided,
inspired by my buddy (and DT partner in art) Lisa,
to make it a 'Retreat Journal' with all the pics I have
from art retreats over the years.
It's a ring binder with a plain kraft colour cover
and Canvas covered spine just begging to be painted.
It comes with white pages but you can also get refills in kraft and watercolour papers, they also include some with fold out flaps, so fun!
After priming with gesso, I went to town with Dylusions paints.
I had a long few years of always reaching for the cool colours but then yellow started sneaking in, and over a few months things turned around.
This is the back view. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here, I'll keep you updated.
My other project for today is a page loosely based on the sketch for this month.
Again with the warm colours!
I used a 12" x 12" piece of card with a resist pattern like these ones from Heidi Swapp, and coloured it with Dylusions Spray Inks, spreading it around with a wet wipe to blend the colours and clean the resist. I cut a football chipboard shape and covered it with white card that I also coloured with the ink sprays.
I traced the pregnant woman shape on vellum and typed my story inside it, then cut it out and went round the edge with a black marker. A few embellishments from my stash (gem flourish, washi tape, flower) pulled it all together and some stamping with black Dylusions and bubble wrap around the edges helped to frame the page.
The other challenge for September is a moodboard, Spring inspired.
