Go Be Awesome Today- By Lisa Oxley

Salutations Crafty Peeps and Good Morning , Lisa here with a Mixed media Blog update.
Just a quick masculine layout idea to share with you .
today I am sharing a layout celebrating my 53 yr old partner, and his passion for Skateboarding.
As a busy working woman ,lately I find it difficult to fit in time for scrapping as well as all my other passions, so I love to create quick effective pieces, that don't take forever to throw together and allow for a more fluid creative flow.
How do you work your backgrounds? Do you create a page based on a photo,or, are you like me ,and get arty with your media and then find your photo to work with ?
I love to play(its my nature),so unleashing your Mojo and just exploring your mediums will release the inner child and give you a creative "shot in the arm".
This layout fell together quickly.I had a simple background prepared on White Marshmellow bazzil cardstock with a branches stencil used with colourblast paste as a base and spritzed with some Dylusions Lemon Zest and Teal.
Adding a little script/date stamping,doodling and
drippy black house paint completed the background elements.

As a rule I always mat my photos with black cardstock-to bring focus to the subject and to complement the ever present black in the photo and the supporting background elements.
Washi Tape is a bit of a star on this page,I just love its versatility and the range is outta this world.
Again as a signature, I have used tissue paper and muslin as layering elements and highlighted my layout with Me and My Big Ideas chipboard, Tim Holtz simple sentences. a couple of random puffy sticker and the hero yellow Star came from Charms Creations.

Thanks for dropping by the blog.
I hope your inspired to throw together a few quick layouts this weekend, see you next week.
Lisa xx

  1. What an awesome page :) I must admit, I - more often than not - start with the photo for my pages. But, love hearing how other scrappers plan their pages!
