The $6 Kmart Challenge

Howdy bloggers,Lisa Here with a Friday Blog update .
I'm sure that most creative beings will be rejoicing this Easter and creating a little arty goodness.
I will be working, but I do have today off to play with some messy mixed media products.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Today I am sharing a challenge piece I completed (in the early hours of this morning).
While strolling through Kmart last week , My arty friend and I stumbled upon these canvases for $6,and I put a challenge to her that we paint/create something to give the canvas a lift.
Here is what I did with my piece.
Firstly it has a crappy plastic coating so a little Gesso to start,to allow paint to stick and out comes the House paint to create drips and add colour and interest to the canvas.
When the house paint dried ,I found a mandala stencil and
smeared on some shimmery Colour Blast Textured Colour Paste .
Love the sparkle in this product .
Next ,using my Signature Words Or Whatever Feather Stencil I added base feathers with Jo Sonja Black Textured Paste and then after drying I added the 2nd feather detail using Colour Blast Coloured Textured. Again super shimmery over black as well., Love this product.
The fun is in the details here , Playing with Prima Marketing -Jamie Dougherty Stamps, beautiful Blooms , Fun Fonts and Lettering, and the beloved Posca Black Pen to add my personal touches , all create a little magic , to bring this piece to life .
Here is the finished piece (atrocious shady morning lighting)
,Oh Dream & Say Yes, Right Now,to Our New Best Ever Adventures!
I really needed to wait until the light was better to show you how glorious the Dreamcatcher shines , but this blog post is going up now .
For the curious , HERE is my arty friends challenge piece, still a work in progress.
Thanks for dropping by, Make sure ,if your in Kmart and you see the $6 canvas and would like a Challenge . I challenge you too make something fun and please don't forget to share .
See you next week .xx
Especially if your coming to the ,
Sydney Paper Craft Festival in Penrith on the 1st and 2nd of April.:)
& big love and Thanks to all those who take time and comment here ,
I appreciate your feedback so much , THANK YOU >!!

  1. Looks fabulous Lisa! The thought has crossed my mind to paint over a cheap canvas. Feeling inspired :) The only problem is I can never leave Kmart without buying a few extra things! Happy Easter!
