Cool Kid - With Karyn Schultz!

Hi Scrapping Clearly Lovelies!!

It's Karyn here, and today I have a scrapbook page to share with you made using lots of goodies from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Boys Rule collection - available from the Scrapping Clearly Store

I created this page during the Australia Day cybercrop. The photo is of a beach holiday at Semaphore.

I started with a sheet of Messed Up from the CVS Boys Rule paper collection as my base then added to the background using Prima oil pastels (using a painting with plastic technique) and I also used the oil pastels to colour modelling paste which I applied through a stencil across the page in places.

I matted my photo on a white doilie and some papers from the CVS Boys rule paper pad then added some stickers, ephemera and paper flowers to embellish.

I created a title using words from the ephemera pkt.

You do You - with Emma

Welcome to Tuesday friends, Em with you all today.
I have been finding it really hard to find time to scrap lately or finding the right head space to scrap in, so I decided to do a layout that doesn't use too many elements and comes together fairly quickly for me.

I started as usual with most of  my layouts and used a Clear Gesso to prime my base paper. Once dry I then added modelling paste through a stencil and then went over that with 2 Distress Oxides, this time I chose Cracked Pistachio and Spun Sugar.
I wanted to leave it soft in colour as the vibe of the photo was soft and peaceful.
I only added 1 stamp also from Jane Davenports build a bouquet set.

Then I used a mix of elements, layering with Heidi swapp ephemera pieces and flower trimmings.

I added a few quotes from Tim Holtz and some stitched hearts by Pink Fresh studio.
These are a perfect addition to any sort of layout.

A few flicks of Dylusions ink and this page is finished. I think it took approx 15 mins to put together once I knew what elements I was using.

I hope it inspires you to try out some simple layouts when you may be time poor.

I'll see you all soon, Em xx

Stamping with Oxides

Hi everyone,
Today I got out my Oxide Ink reinkers to play around with some backgrounds.

All stamps and chipboard used are from KinderKreations
I used the reinkers but the new Oxide sprays would work just as well.
I put a little drop of colour onto my messy mat and tap the stamp over the top to cover in ink.
Then just stamp onto your page. I find it gives a lovely soft water colour distress effect.

For the first page I used marshmallow cardstock as it is a heavier weight and takes mixed media techniques well.

Here is the finished layout.

I then thought what would it look like on water colour paper as the oxide is designed to react well with water.

I took a piece of 12x12 water colour paper and spritzed it with water and then stamped on it the same as above. As expected it bled into the paper but ended up a bit too blury.

So I dried it off and took a darker colour for the flowers and leaves and did a crisp stamp over the top. So I ended up with like a shadow effect.

This is my finished layout with this page.

I finished off the layout with some Vicki Boutin and Simple stories ephemera and stickers.

Thanks for looking.

Afternoon Delights

Welcome to another fabulous weekend. I have snuck away with a few girlfriends up to the Sunshine Coast, Queensland for a scrappy weekend and we are having a great time creating and catching up despite all the Cyclone warnings . I had a great play yesterday to go with a nice simple little layout using a few easy and fun techniques.

I sprayed a little pink ink onto a non- stick mat and then sprayed it with water. Then placed the cardstock on top to softly pick up the colour. I then used the Dylusions 12" leaf stamp stamped with  black ink. I then used green ink and painted it into the leaf sections.

I added a little dimension to where the photo was to be placed by adding a little modelling paste through a TCW 6x6 stencil - Ocean Window - this is an absolute must have stencil.

I added layers under the photo by adding some Hambly Screen prints acetate, Dina Wakley washi, & Heidi Swapp stickers.

I added a fun large title from the Heidi Swapp wood veneer range and stitching to hold down the acetate. I also added some resin flowers & Geo tags

Lastly I added an ink border on the photo and the 12x12 page with the Artline markers and also did some zig zag stitching on those. The final touch was some little stickers from Pinkfresh live more range some personal journalling.

It has taken me all day to do my exceptional blogpost ... these chics on retreat are hard core and life is good - today is all about having fun - enjoying life- embrace your creative energy with those that love what you do & you love them right back ... have a fabulous weekend.
