Dream -ATC 16

 Saturday...

happy weekend or just Saturday to everyone.

Hope you have some exciting opportunities for your Saturday.

today's share is another ATC.

week 16: Fantasy Architecture: Design a fantastical building or structure.

For those who know me, know that I really enjoy making little houses, so this week's theme was right up my alley....

I started by adding some bookpaper that was sitting on my desk from my last ATC.

I then added a couple of Walnut Ink Crystals.

I think technically the 'correct' way to use these crystals is to put some in a spray bottle and then add water... but for me. I just sprinkle some on the paper and add a few squirts of water.
Once the water is on, I then smooshed some around with my fingers and then let the rest just sit.
I really like the differing intensities that this creates.
I then added a couple of drops of oxide ink - Lucky Clover and some spritzes of water.
once dried, I then stitched around the edge of the page.
next up was how to create my building.
My dream is to have a rustic house surrounded by a couple acres of land, either in the country or somewhere near the ocean.
so, I wanted to use some wood elements. I found some really old wood veneer words that I knew I wouldn't use. I used these to create the front of my house structure. And I also knew that I wanted to use one of the Tim Holtz chipboard sayings that I have had for ages as the roof.
and then, you know me, I forgot to take some more progress photos.
I used the back of the veneers and used the slopes of the pieces to form the pitch of the roof.
then, I glued these onto a piece of paper to hold things all together and to help form the house.
next thing to do is to cover the wall. For this I used some Gas Station rice paper in strips, sanded each edge, and added some stabilo all to the edges to create some definition to the pieces.
I then scored the chipboard saying so it would bend in half and coloured the underside with the lucky clover ink as well.
You can see how this has turned out below.
Oh and I added some foam tape to the middle of the house so I could add some extra dimension and the 'roof' didn't take over or dominate the pieces.
but of course, it just doesn't end there.
Next up was something special to make this more fantasy looking.
I searched through my stash of items I had created using some paper clay and found this heart and wings.
Experimenting with distress oxides to colour the piece but it didn't feel right.
So, I tried some sparks and metallic paint.
this worked out nice.
to finish the piece, I had some acrylic stars - is there anything better than laying in bed and looking up at the stars or watching and listening to rain.
Finally finishing off with some dots of glossy accents and the word Dream.
so here is the end result for this weeks ATC
