Art Journalling - With Karyn!

Hi Scrapping Clearly Lovelies!

Happy Mothers Day!!! I hope all the mothers are enjoying a lovely day with your families and maybe having a moment for some creative crafty time :)

It's Karyn here today and I have some Art Journal pages to share with you and a little step-by-step, made using lots of Scrapping Clearly goodies.

I'm part of one of the "Circle Journal" groups organised by Scrapping Clearly where we have all made a journal out of brown paper bags (yes! can you believe it!!). We have decorated the cover and a page inside then we send it on to other members of the group. In 12 months time it will make its way home to me with pages decorated by all the other lovely people in the group - how fun!!!

I thought I would share how I made one of the pages in my circle journal.

Firstly I painted a layer of white gesso on my page. When this was dry I applied texture paste through a stencil.
Next I selected the Dylusions ink colours I wanted to use
I did not want to spray the inks on though. I wanted to drip them. You could do this with a pipette, a paintbrush or just the end of the nozzle from the spray. I propped my journal up and added the inks a bit at a time, letting it slowly drip down the page. At times I also sprayed water along the top of the page to spread the ink.
I played around with the inks for a while and ended up with this.
On the facing page I used a stencil and applied 5 different colours of Colour Blast pastes. I just love these pastes - they are lovely and thick and shimmery!
This is how I finished up my pages. I kept it relatively simple as I just loved the backgrounds and didnt want to cover them up.
The theme of my journal is "Positive affirmations" - so I chose this simple quote for my page.

I've also added some paint splat stamps across my page and some background stamps along the edges.
I love the detail of the dripping ink pooling and moving around the textured patterns.
Scrapping Clearly products I've used include

Dylusions ink sprays Stencils
KaiserCraft stamps
Colour Blast pastes
Gesso
Texture Paste

Thanks so much for stopping by
