Bottoms up by Amy Prior - February Mood Board Challenge example

Hi everyone! Amy Prior back with you all again today, this time sharing my take on the February mood challenge which was designed by the amazing Peg Hewitt! Here is the current mood board and you can view the full details by clicking here

Here is my take on the mood board. I was inspired by the pretty flowers as well as the gorgeous colours and hearts!

I added lots of gold to this layout also because I just love this fabulous patterned paper from the My Minds Eye - My Story Collection - Patterned Paper. The gold is so hard to photograph successfully sorry but in real life this is so breathtaking!

Among the gorgeous layers of My Minds Eye - My Story Collection - Patterned Paper, I have also added various stickers from the My Minds Eye - My Story Collection - Paper Goods Stickers and My Minds Eye - My Story Collection - Story Stickers. I have inked the edges of all the papers, stickers and flowers to bring more black into the layers using Ranger Archival Ink Pad - Black and a Mini Ink Blending Tool.

I had so much fun playing with the Heidi Swapp - Wanderlust - Gold Alphas Foil sticker kit. It was so easy to use and I have added extra texture to the gold letters by squishing them down a little with my fingers. If you just want to keep the smooth gold finish, all you have to do is press the foil onto each letter. It is just so easy, I definitely recommend giving it a go! To help the letters pop off the background a little better i have doodled around the edges using a black archival pen.

Once all the layers were stuck down, I have splattered some Colour Blast - Shimmer Spray - Lipstick around the background however this step could be done first if you are afraid of splattering the photograph.

A few flowers from my stash finished this layout off perfectly.

Complete product list for this layout includes...
My Minds Eye - My Story Collection - Patterned Paper
My Minds Eye - My Story Collection - Paper Goods Stickers
My Minds Eye - My Story Collection - Story Stickers
Heidi Swapp - Wanderlust - Gold Alphas Foil sticker kit
Colour Blast - Shimmer Spray - Lipstick
Ranger Archival Ink Pad - Black
Mini Ink Blending Tool

Well that is it from me today, thanks so much for stopping by and until next time, happy scrapping!

Some People with Melinda

Hello there fellow ScrappingClearly fans! Melinda here with you today sharing my latest layout using the gorgeous MME "My Story" range available in store!

Here is my layout and I really love how it all came together!

I started with that big cut file that I got from Just Nick studio. It's called Some People and I seriously LOVE it! I used a mix of Colour Blast Sprays in Love and Sunset (these 2 are colour spray - flat colour, no shimmer) and also Sunshine, Tangerine Dream and Bling (these 3 are shimmer spray, so, so pretty!!) and the very fancy plastic packaging technique after I applied a coat of gesso and VERY carefully peeled the file off my cutting mat!

Here is a close up of the cut file and I love all the different colours in it. I chose my colours based on the colours in the MME collection florals.

I have a couple of layers behind my photo using the Grandma's Quilt paper and also some of the GORGEOUS vellum from the Maggie Holmes Open Book collection. The background paper is the B side of the BEAUTIFUL Heirloom Rose's paper and thankfully I had a second sheet so I could fussy cut some of those stunning florals!

I added a very subtle detail using a stencil from my stash and some pretty Colour Blast Bling Colour Paste on the area behind the photo.

I've kept the embellishing pretty simple with only a couple of the floral clusters, some of the cute as cork hearts from the Pink Paislee C'est La Vie collection, some of the WRMK Clearly Posh giant enamel dots and a few sequins from the Red/Pink Studio Calico sequin pack.

And of course, it was finished off with a sprinkle of Colour Blast Bling Colour Shimmer spray and also a simple label sticker from the Paper and Acessories kit. I didn't feel like this page needed any journalling (which is unusual for me!) because that title said everything I wanted to say :)

Here are a couple of close ups and I also have a process video you can watch if you'd like to see this page come together you can see that here.

That's it for me for today, please if you have any questions or comments leave them below and I will get back to you ASAP!

Thanks for stopping by and remember to go and create something!

Some Cards inspired by the September Mood Board

Hi there and welcome to the ScrappingClearly blog this Sunday!! Melinda here with you sharing the cards I created after being totally inspired by the gorgeous mood board this month using the fun MME My Story Collection.

Here is the mood board again for you if you have missed it or just would like to see the prettiness all over again ;)

AND, don't forget that if you entered either of our challenges last month and upload to either again (or both) this month and next month you will have the chance to win either the Urban Market range or the Something Wonderful range by Teresa Collins!

Here are the 2 cards I created. As you can probably see I was really inspired by the pinks/oranges in the mood board with the pops of black :)

I also made a video of my process and if you'd like to check that out you can see that here otherwise, here is a quick rundown of what I did!

I had a couple of off cuts of the papers from another page I had worked on and thought that they would make great card fronts! The papers I have used are the Heirloom Roses (I fussy cut that big floral), Grandma's Quilt and Typewriter Paper. I pulled out my sticker sheets from the Paper and Accessories Kit and pulled off a couple that I thought would make great additions to cards!

Once I had decided which side/orientation of the papers I was going to go with I popped one aside and worked on the other.

For this card I pulled in some of the gorgeous Open Book Specialty paper as a layer in the background with one of the Heidi Swapp bling frames in ruby (there is only pink available in store now) layered on top. I popped one of the stickers on pop dots on the top of that and then layered a couple of other stickers and one of those fun cork hearts from the C'est La Vie collection on top!

A few sequins from this and this pack and some black splatters using the Roadbase Colour Spray by Colour Blast. Oh, and lastly, to pull it all together before mounting on a card base a quick doodled border around the edge :)

Then onto the second card!

It did take me a little while to decide on how I was going to use that gorgeous floral and which side of the paper to use but again, I love how this came together too!

After I had chosen the way the card was going I added some foam tape to the back of the floral and stuck that to the card front piece. I did leave all the extra bits hanging until I had just about completed the card but after it was fully assembled I snipped off the extra floral from the bottom but left the couple of black leaves at the top. Another sticker from one of my sticker sheets - also popped up on foam tape - some gold thread from my stash, another of those fun cork hearts, some more sequins, black splatters and some doodling :)

I created these cards with a general "theme" in mind - congratulations/celebratory as I am always on the hunt for one but they were fun to put together and I could have quiet easily made them into no theme or different theme so just because you have "scrapbooking" supplies doesn't necessarily mean you need to "scrapbook" with them!

I hope you get some inspiration to try something a little different and go wherever the fun mood board takes you!

Thanks again for stopping by and have a fabulous, hopefully scrappy, Sunday!

Oh, and of course, a big happy fathers day to you if you are Daddy or doing the work of both Mum and Dad, I know without my hubby around doing the fab job he does as a Daddy I wouldn't get as much scrappy time!!
