Together - Lisa J Made a Girly Page!

Hi all,

As a mum to four boys you can probably guess it is pretty rare for me to make a girly page. At a scrap retreat last weekend I decided to challenge myself and I embraced my girly side to scrap a photo of my sister and niece.

I fussy cut a tonne of flowers from this stunning floral paper from the Heidi Swapp September Skies 6x6 paper pad.

I stencilled my white cardstock background with modelling paste using a floral stencil.

I used some Color Shine in Georgia Peach and brushed on some gorgeous shimmery colour.

Next step was to add some layers around my photo using co-ordinating papers from September Skies and some tissue paper. A similar tissue paper can be found here.

I added some colour to the Heidi Swapp Color Magic die-cuts using Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio and Faded Jeans. I swiped the inks on to my messy mat added a spritz of water then used my blending tool to combine the inks to create the perfect shade and add colour to my chosen pieces. These are so fun to play with and so easy to alter to suit any project.

This was a fun layout to create and it is always good to try something out of your usual style.
What have you challenged yourself with lately?

Happy scrapping,

Lisa J

The Best Things with Melinda Sweetman

Hi scrappy friends, Melinda here with you today sharing my take on the fun April sketch challenge, once again designed by the very talented Peg!

Here it is if you haven't seen it yet

And here is my take on it

And you can watch my process on the link below - just press the play button!

I have used the Kaiser Craft Ooh La La collection pack for this and mostly just the Oui Oiu floral paper (I fussy cut the florals from it) and the Belle paper.

I have a little of the packaging technique in the background with the Avocado Art Anthology spray and applied a few splatters in Navy Colour Shimmer Dust.

The finishing touches were a few of my left over triangles from my last project - as photo corners and also as corners on the top left and bottom right of the page.

So, make sure you get your entries in for this months challenges, you still have most of the month to get them done! Head over here to the FB group to upload your entries. We love to see the way you guys interpret the challenges!!

Thanks, as always for stopping by and until next time, happy scrapping!

Mothers Day Inspiration

 Morning Bloggers
Lisa Here with a Mixed Media Friday update .
Inspired by my gorgeous flowers I received for Mothers Day,and my lack of actual time in the last 2 weeks to really create anything new, I set myself a challenge on my 1st day of my weekend to try and learn something new.,So i watched a couple of quick You Tube Videos to get some basic ideas and then went into my art journal and created a few different pieces .
Here is my 3rd attempt at a bowl of flowers .
I kept the colours similar to the background, and added circles and shapes representative of flowers
(remember I'm no fine artist so I'm thinking abstract realism here)
I used 2 colours, then added highlight points on each flower with the opposite paint colour.., then a little white in there too.. finally a little black magic pencil,to add more detail.I did this all while the paint was wet , then I allowed drying time.
I used a mix of different paints  from Kylies fab range of mixed media goodness.
time for some dramatic contrast and a splash of blue against
those gorgeous reds and oranges
same principle, with a little paynes grey added to the blue for shadow.
A little negative space painting and I painted in the vase,
and added a little more detail for using extra layers of paint and working with light points
(still lots to learn here) But I really just didn't want to fuss all over these pieces, because practice makes perfect and I wanted to bash out a few to get a little control and confidence.
More colour with some folage ,and a little magic pencil
 Then I tried it again
And Again
and after a day of about 6  different pieces
I created this :) :) :)

Did you know I have a Red Bubble Account , which means you can get different items with my creative goodness on it ..
this beautiful colourful piece of art above can be purchase on various items like Phone covers, tote bags, travel mugs and hardcover journals .
Defs go check  Scrapwitchs Floral Fetish out .
Thanks for dropping by. see you next week , I hope your inspired to paint some Blooms soon.
Comments much appreciated.
